maybe the sinfest dude, like jeph jacques, is somebody who works hard enough and updates consistently yet will never progress from his plateau of mediocrity due to not being exceptionally intelligent/creative.
I've never found sinfest particularily offensive. I think I've cringed at some of the feminist stuff, because even though it's well intentioned it comes across so not good, and than trans-state thing was really fucking awful. But overall it's not like, the worst thing. And I don't think that an artist not living up to their perceived potential is a sin because a guy can do what he wants if he likes doing it

I have some of the original sinfests saved on an old, old harddrive. It had a few decent jokes. Same exact art too.
So he has actually gotten worse somehow.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Obviously I'm very interested in what it is that makes people cringe and resist when certain comics are posted!
Also webcomics drama is so ENTHRALLING. I like to know what missteps people have made as creators so that I can learn from them.

Another thing is that it is so easy to feel mediocre because of how much awesome shit is out there! Beyond comics too. The double edged blade of art that inspires and depresses because of how unattainably awesome it seems.

it's a four panel comic and so you expect a setup and a punchline but there's never any punchline or indeed any discernible comedy at all
