LCDs, Stuck Pixels, and wallpapers, oh my.

I just got a new LCD monitor. It's got a stuck (dead?) pixel on my black wallpaper. A dot that is red. Is there anything I can do? I've got a pixel fixer running, but how long do I leave it on? Do I just leave the little thingy on the affected area only, or do I have to maximize the fixer to fit the whole screen? I'd like not to have to massage the screen if I don't have to.

Also, I'm looking for some interesting black wallpapers. Right now, I've got the ol' regular black background going. Does anyone know where I can find some Heroes wallpapers that are like those Lost wallpapers? Just the name of the show in the middle, and black everywhere else. I tried NBC.com, but they don't have them, and I tried making one myself and it was disasterous.

Well, I'd leave it running all night. Preferably longer, even.

Try gently massaging the LCD monitor, too.

For desktops, don't clutter yourself with stupid NBC shows (JK I LOVE THEM TOO)

But try Mandolux.com. Check the archives. Some amazing shit.

    leaving it on all night...

would I have to turn the screen saver and power saver off?

because wouldnt that cause burn in?

It probably wouldn't hurt it significantly to leave it overnight for one night. Turn off all your icons, hide your start bar and put your mouse off to one corner.

JScreenFix. It cycles all of the pixels on and off as fast as possible. Seems to work. Definitely cleaned up this crappy old monitor a bit.

Screen burn would be with plasmas, and JScreenFix can deal with that too apparently.

    I'd Google it.

yeah, that's the one I tried. I made the window about 2 in X 2 in, and left it on the affected area for a little bit.

    Didnt seem to work.

Gotta leave it on longer. OVernight. Don't worry about burn in on modern screens.

Now that my screen is all nice and big, I've noticed some graphical slowdown. Stuff takes longer to appear and stuff like that. What affects the speed at which things are shown on screen? The processor, right? Not ram, or anything?

Try gently massaging the LCD monitor, too.

It helps induce the Wumpusberries between the sheets of liquid crystal to release their flavor.

Try putting on some Berry White, too. Dim the lights and put out some scented candles.

I was just getting to that.
