LOOK AT MY [Comics Art Appreciation Thread]! – NSF56K
Posts
He poses figures awkwardly, they all have ridiculous musculature that has little logical consistency, their muscles print through clothes and armor, he only knows how to draw maybe two or three different male faces. The Bat-cave picture he drew a few years ago is my favorite piece of his-- because he doesn't draw any characters! He draws stuff very well, just not characters.
I think Jim Lee's pretty good at what he does, i.e. big muscular guys punching each other, in very dour comics. His characters aren't particularly emotive or varied, he can't design a decent costume to save his life, and he seems to be suffering from deadline pressure and poor colorists lately, but he does have his moments.
I think his watercolor stuff in Hush was actually really cool, and showed he at least has the potential to expand his artistic repertoire.

Look, I know Liefield is terrible and that's plain to see. I look at most of Jim Lee's stuff and go, 'wow that's purdy'.
*shrug*.
It was Lee that sold me on the new Superman costume, so I can't be too angry at him.
Skottie Young's been putting old Spider-Man covers and such up on his Tumblr, too. Man, why hasn't this guy been given a Spider-Man OGN, or something?

great pic(k)s here!
because those panels looked awesome
Skottie Young is delightful.
Venom is a great book and I'm looking forward to completing my collection of earlier issues soon (I jumped on three issues ago, so good).
Flash Thompson, Spider-Man's old bully/biggest fan, lost in legs during his military service, and was subsequently given the Venom symbiote, to be used during military operations. There's a few volumes available, but you can start here.

Or General Glory.
Or Agent Liberty.
Or Mister America.

daredevil does have powers though
HUGE images
Look at that, it ain't even fair ahahaha
Not big enough names for Marvel vs DC. Even Lobo back then was as oversaturated as Deadpool was recently.
Well it is actually used in a comic series, and there are actually quite a few characters in all of those pictures posted!
The thing is, the environment is so busy and livid that the people get lost in the transition! ImperialBoy focuses on making the environment a "character" of its own rather then just a backdrop for an action comic. This is similar to how the manga One Piece approaches world design, and why the Grand Line venues are so memorable because if it.
It's a different fare then your standard Marvel or DC formula. Give it a try!
All I know so far is that his art is featured in something called Robot manga, which is ironically pretty hard to find!
You can see more examples of his God-like perspective here

That first one's just a video game screenshot or something, isn't it? Because the figure at the top just looks like an avatar from Final Fantasy, or something.
And everything I can find of the artist online, is people saying stuff like, "Wow, check out this amazing artist, ImperialBoy!"
I feel like I'm being lured into some kind of comics art pyramid scheme.

Imperial Boy works exclusively on comics though
more here: http://ohotmuredux.blogspot.com
but the Gladiator one is not nearly as good as the original which doesn't need touching, to be honest
the art in the original handbook is better in all those cases
which is not to diss on the new stuff too much
just sayin
they just hand the picture to the artist and say "have fun with this"
Yeah, I love seeing stuff like this. Artists that might not normally draw this kind of stuff, given an excuse to.
Like David Petersen's Rocket Raccoon.
Or Tim Seeley's Brothers Grimm.
And I love Patricio Oliver's Warlock, Rusty Shackles' She-Hulk, and Erica Henderson's Hercules.
I also love these kinds of sites, because they always wind up pointing me towards some new artist, that I might not have found otherwise.

I think a neat touch would be if Nightmare was always drawn as asleep and his shirt did all the talking.
The normal Nightmare design is just generic scary man, so anything that plays up his nature as a creature of dreams would be welcome.

It's pretty similar to an idea for a Wonder Woman design I've had in my head for a while
Though she might consider wearing a belt
