Pokemon Diamond Import Problem

Hello!

I imported a used copy of Pokemon Diamond. I've looked through the guide book and fiddled with the buttons, but I'm still not able to start a new game and save it over the other person's file. I've tried UP+B and LEFT+RIGHT+SELECT, but those haven't done anything. I've also tried searching online, but I couldn't find anything.

Do any of you know how to remedy this?

I can get you a solution in one month and 15 days.

But seriously, isn't it just like the other pokemon games? Start your new game, then save. It'll prompt you that it's erasing the other file, hit OK.

I've tried that, but before I even start the game, it basically tells me that I won't be able to save it at all. At first I thought it was just because my Japanese wasn't good enough to understand, but I had a fluent friend look at it and she said that there is a way to erase the data, but that neither the game nor the guidebook say how.

I believe if you hold A+B+X+Y+Select+Start (might want to throw L and R in there just to be sure) while starting your DS, it will erase the save data on the card in slot1.
