This list is just amazing. Which places do you guys recommend for fast lunches yet somewhat healthy (e.g. not fast food, deep fried food, etc)?

Specialties - they have awesome (huge) salads and soups, in addition to the sandwiches. Watch out for the cookies - you'll want one, and they're probably not healthy.

The health food place mentioned above is endorsed and encouraged by Khoo.

    Just FYI.

Happily on Sabbatical. Don't bug me.

I'm not sure I'd call specialties a health food place per se but they are good. I ate there a couple times last year.

I meant the place in WSCC, behind the escalators. The independently owned one with wheatgrass smoothies and killer salads.

My bad, I can't remember the name??

    Juicy Cafe.

I had the honor of being in line when Sir Wil of Wheaton came through with his escorts and Cape 'o' Dicks to pick up his lunch on Saturday, last year.

Attention vegans/vegetarians... I have found a FANTASTIC bistro in Seattle to meet our needs.

Plum Bistro - I checked the giant list and it hasn't been listed.
    1429 12th Avenue
Prices kind of vary depending on what time of the day you go, as normal it does get expensive when you get into dinner... but their veggie burgers are fantastic and unique for dinner (go for the panko portabella). This isn't your average vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Check Google Maps on how to get there since it's a bus ride away from the convention center.

Also, the reason I brought it up now is that there's a nice deal going on Amazon Local for this place, which would be useful for us saving money. Make sure to read the fine print!

THIS! I look forward every year to making two or three stops at Mod Pizza. It's remarkably cheap (~$7) and oh my dayum delicious. Not just generic pizza, that's for sure. One way to sum it up would be flatbread pizza assembled Chipotle style.

Sorry to post again, thought I'd bring up another deal thingy...

Get $10 worth of take-out or delivery through Living Social. You must order your food through the Living Social website, which includes a lot of places in Downtown Seattle, like Pike's Place Chowder and Lunchbox Laboratory.

Although this is from the Washington D.C. area, it works in the Seattle area since they have takeout available. Just make sure to switch your city when you go to redeem your voucher, and it will still be applied. Just tested this and it works.

@TevaZul, I think I love you. That is a huge help. I'll be bringing some of my own snacks and other things to eat, but to have some eat out options is awesome. Being gluten free is still relatively new to me so I'll have to give some of those places a try. I have been craving a good burger so I'll have to give Blue Moon Burgers a try.

I do know that some Subway locations do gluten free as well. They have a separate gluten free menu. The sandwiches are on the expensive side for the size of what you get though.

PrincessCleo: High prices are going to be par for the course when it comes to pre-made gluten free foods, unless they are not sold as such (rice noodles, for example). Razzi's (way up in north seattle) has gluten free pizza, but you'll pay a price for that small pizza. Last time I ordered one in fact, they seemed to be a bit scroogey with the dough (although to be fair it was when it was still Romio's). OTOH, it is fantastic to be able get something when you're out.

If you happen to run across a Blue Dog cafe, they have good gluten free pancakes.

Be careful at any place who *just* started offering gluten free - they may not know how to properly cook it, or worse - they may not understand the point of gluten free and cooking it in a non-contaminated manner. I once heard a story that a chef thought it was fine to cook the gluten free pasta in the SAME POT as the non-gluten free stuff! There is more awareness now and places that are long established with gluten free are not likely to do this, but if they are new, you might check their methods. :)

    @PrincessCleo

Glad I could help! I tried to only add places where "Gluten Free" was backed up by online reviews and the like. But there are a few more places close to the convention that you
will have to use your best judgement on. Blue C Sushi is close and if you go to their website and click on individual items they are marked as "wheatless" but caution should always be
used with sushi as some rice vinegars are not gluten free. There is also supposed to be a place called Bambuza but its listed as closed on Yelp? Pretty sure I ate there last year...
well if it is open it touts a gluten friendly menu as well but since I am not 100% on them I haven't added them to the list.

Also if anyone finds other great Gluten Free/Friendly places to eat during PAX send me a message and I will add it to the list!

@phoo: Yeah, I've found that out. I have found some places will tell you up front that they don't use separate areas for their gluten free stuff. So it's an eat at your own risk kind of thing. I still have to yell at my boyfriend sometimes because he does things out of habit and will contaminate my food by accident. He tries really hard though, so I try not to get too mad at him.

I'll have to check out Blue Dog Cafe. I love me some pancakes.

@TevaZul, I've also found that a lot of soy sauces contain wheat, so to be safe I've just avoided any Asian food places. Even though Asian foods are my absolute favorites. We're learning to cook them at home, but they just aren't the same.

I will definitely be checking out the places that you listed.

If you have the ability to cook in your hotel room, you can head over to Uwajamaya the local asian supermarket. They have tons of different noodles that are gluten free. Rice, bean, etc.

Instead of soy sauce, you might try Bragg's Liquid Aminos. Heat will destroy the aminos, but it tastes a lot like soy sauce. It should, it's soybean protein and water. I try to add it on my food afterwards.

If you go way up north (greenwood), there's always Razzi's, which has a separate menu. It's a long way to go from the convention center however. They have pizza, pasta and about a million other things. They've been doing gluten free for a long time.

Question for you Seattle people: I'll be staying at Crowne Plaza, what's the closest grocery/convenient store around? I google mapped and saw this one place that didn't look like a store on street view, I also saw a Walgreens on 3rd and Pine? Is that the closest?

Anyone know of a place to get some Poutine? I've never had it but really want to try it and seeing as how I live in Atlanta, I won't get another opportunity to get this close North again for a while.

I figure though that Seattle is close enough, so it should be easy to come by. Anyone know of someplace to get good poutine? Or bad poutine? I know I have a problem, but at this point, I'll eat poutine from a Waffle House equivalent that sold it if only to satisfy this craving...

Skillet's poutine is all right. By that I mean, it's really delicious but not 100% authentic. They have a permanent spot in the Centerhouse (well, maybe it's called the Armory now??) in Seattle Center by the Space Needle. They also have a food truck that roams around. They also have a diner up on Capitol Hill: http://skilletstreetfood.com/diner.php

How close to the university street light rail station are both of those more specifically the citytarget? I fly out tomorrow and planned on heading there when I land for a lil cooler and hotel room food

The Coterie Room on second and Lenora. Much more authentic than Skillets, and way better IMO. Go in for a slice of Foie and the Poutine and leave a happy person.

Asgafsafgdgafahsbavag stop recommending Skillet for Poutine guys :[[[[[
