Been zerking it up hard for a few days. Masterworked a full set of Molten Token gear with the weapon already +12 and gloves +11. Haven't been into Wonderholme yet, which I guess is where I'd get recipes to upgrade these things into the uber versions (if I can luck out on zenith chest mark drops)? I dunno. This is definitely a game.

It is actually insane how good berserkers have become. Seems like they made the immunity timing on Evasive Roll more forgiving. The instant vampiric strikes after overcharging are just crazy. There's a shitload more crit on gear too, which puts a smile on my face. Charge speeds are so fast compared to vanilla berserkers that it's almost comical.

Get your iLevel up to satisfy the special snowflakes and do Wonderholme hard mode. It isn't much different from easy mode and drops the uber versions of the gear.

Just poking my head in to say that I'm giving it a whirl. It's fun so far, and I'm getting the hang of it.

There's a few things I am not a fan of, that might just be ignorance on my part:
    1. no target lock that I can tell, so moving left and right and back actually aims you away from the enemy you're facing, so you have to reorient before you attack.
    2. I got a neat stack of sign up rewards. I looked at them, decided I didn't want to use them, closed the window, and the next day (today), none of them are anywhere to be found. They all seemed to be temporary buffs, but what gives?
    3. Stupid freaking lvl 10 "intro to crafting" quest that gives you a design you're not eligible to learn until level 15. WTF?

Other than those minor gripes, it seems like a lot of fun and I'm digging the fight system.

TERA is a solid game for folks looking for something to do that's accessible for people wary of a sub. The game has become a good deal easier/less grindy than in its prime. The good news is that it still has a pretty healthy population.

Since the faction update I have no clue how leveling is now. It used to be smooth sailing leveling-wise until you hit the late 40s where it turned into kind of a slog because they never updated mob xp to xp required ratio for the old level cap of 50.

The last (as in final) content update for the game should be coming out early 2015.

I've not played TERA in quite awhile, but I think about it from time to time, and it remains one of my fondest MMO memories. I hope to find time to get back into it one day just to derp around a bit.

Late 40s wasn't too bad I think. I've been playing pretty frequently recently, and have the priest to 55. I hear the last few levels are going to be a bit of a slog, but meh.

Yeah, gameplay wise, this is much more of a first person shooter/freeform action game than anything else. You are always, always moving, always always positioning, always always aiming. Every class plays that way, including healers.

It is a singularly unique playstyle in MMOs (Wildstar is in the same vein but falls far short imho), it's just a shame just a gorgeous game with amazing mechanics has a completely shitty lore.

For the guy asking about Warriors above, they just have an insane risk/reward ratio. when you are good enough, you can stay on target doing damage in a way no other class can match, but you have to be utterly perfect in timing and execution to do so. You don't have to out-range mob attacks or tantrum moves, you can simply stay in there, hammering away whilst deftly avoiding the hits, or hell, just straight up invincible through them.

There was a boss that would do an attack that would freeze one player into a pillar of stone the other players would use to LoS an attack that can easily 1 shot you. As a warrior, if your timing was good enough, you could just ignore the whole shebang with Death From Above and keep beating on him while everyone else ran away.

Be off with your timing by more than about half a second, though, and you went splat.

Incidentally, I'm "Resii" on Tempest Reach; if anyone is still playing on that server, I wouldn't mind the friend invites. I know the guild is probably inactive, but an invite there would be welcome also.

Not sure what guild anyone is in really. I know Pixie joined some random guild, not sure how active with it she is.

Kinda irritated, as I need this 54 instance to do a quest. There are a few spots that I have issues healing with and most groups wipe and disband which is mildly frustrating. I'm at 57, and I've still been questing, but I like making sure I've hit story quests.

I'll shoot you a friend request on my few characters. What level/class are you at/playing?

I'm still low level, ~17, and a lancer. I've determined I hate crafting in the game, but mostly b/c it seems so damned expensive. Maybe I should just be focusing on one and selling materials for the other on the brokerage?

I didn't join a random guild. I'm guild-less. If a couple of you guys want to get together and let's start up a new [active] guild, I'm game. I'm also on Tempest Reach. I have a full stable of characters but my most active one right now is my L29 lancer.

I don't even remember the name of the server I was on, especially because I know there were consolidations. Which server was WANG on, was it Tempest Reach? My characters are on whatever server that was. :pop:

Not that I'm promising I could be active or anything, as I'm sorta getting back into WoW for a bit to see if I can find a way to enjoy myself after all this time.

In preparation for the upcoming TERA grouping shennagins, I re-installed this yesterday. Took me a bit to get back into the groove, but I started doing well and having lots of fun with my 45 Lancer by the end of the play-session.

I will have to check into the Steam thread, but since this is the TERA thread, maybe a re-post is in order? :)

I meant to get TERA updated this morning before work, but apparently I hadn't ingested enough coffee, because I somehow got distracted and ended up not doing that.

  • Pixelated PixiePixelated Pixie They/Them Registered User regular
    The tl;dr version:

On a whim, I asked if people would be interested in a weekly "dedicated group" Tera game. As in, 5 players who start at level 1 together and proceed through all the content together. This is just something I love doing in MMOs and I've really wanted to do it in Tera.

The response was ... surprising. So now, starting next Tuesday evening, there are FOUR such groups starting. Specific details to be determined yet: tonight I'll sort people into groups based on available time slots and class preferences. This is all being handled through a Steam group I created for the purpose.

For now I've locked the group because of size, but attrition will certainly kill some off. If someone wanted to come on board as an alternate and quest alongside but independently until a slot opened up, that would certainly be an option.

That's cool, I probably couldn't really participate in this sorta thing because I have a 2-year old (as I mentioned in the Steam thread), but maybe if it becomes a thing, someone could create a guild (or revive WANG) for people to join as part of the Tuesday event which will benefit us hangers-on.

Also would be pretty cool to get people in this thread, so the TERA stuff doesn't get lost with all the regular Steam talk, but that's only my personal preference.

  • Pixelated PixiePixelated Pixie They/Them Registered User regular
Well, it just started in Steam thread because that's where I happened to be ... and where everyone I know is. It wouldn't have occurred to me to ask over here because I don't really know anyone.

I expect most stuff will stay in the Steam group once things get organized.

A new guild seems pretty certain. I'm sure hangers-on would be welcome.

Yes... but I was doing the equivalent of "hey, looking for a few friends for commitment to a weekly casual game" so it made more sense to do that among, you know, friends. ;) Rather than in a thread that is (a) mostly dead, (b) primarily belonging to an existing guild that I am not part of, and (c) populated mostly by people I don't know (I'm a very reclusive gamer/hesitant multiplayer, so I need to know people first).

If I had posted here, it's unlikely I'd have gotten much/any response. Instead there's now some 12+ people reinstalling Tera or even installing it for the first time.

    Just sayin. :)

Hey I totally understand, being quite a bit of a recluse myself. I get why you'd bring it up in the Steam thread, I was only saying that it'd be cool if, once the discussion got going, it got a mention here, or people perhaps migrated over to the game thread to talk about the game. I'm not saying this because I think someone did something wrong, or that I'm trying to moderate or anything... it's just that I personally don't read the Steam thread all that often, and I think some others who also might not will start to catch on and perhaps add to whatever movement is about to happen in TERA. ;)

Which, of course, you might not want, and that's understandable too. I'm glad that some inkling of the Tuesday thing did get over here so I was able to catch onto it... I've been wanting to pick up TERA for a very long time, and just haven't been able to find the proper motivation.

So WANG is out of commission for now, gotcha. (At least we already have an acronym, or the basis of one, for a new guild, courtesy of @The Pink Skull's gloriously warped mind.)

What, pray, is this Raidcall thingumajig in the OP?

Oh, and I'm gonna be a noob at it. Never played it before and only really dipped my toe into MMOs in general. The combination of ungated F2P, pretty art (some of which I'm led to believe does something called "jiggle") and, most of all, having a good crew to roll with right from the off has swayed me into at least giving it a fair shake.

I don't even know if I have characters in WANG, because I have been such an altoholic that I kept switching things around to the point I felt guilty about asking again for membership. On the positive side, this means I also have a bunch of lowbie characters who will fit right in to whatever is being built here.

So, since I'm gonna be joining in on the tuesdays, I'm downloading the launcher. I THINK I've already got a level 1 character, but I need to ask...

Does the launcher have a pause function when I'm downloading the game? Cause I'm not seeing it, and I've had games just flat out not have this option, and closing the launcher means you have to restart the entire download. I would like to not have to do this, since at 25%, I still have a literal day left on the download.
