Problem viewing PA w/ Firefox

I am a recent convert to Firefox (been using it for the last 2 weeks or so - and I've upgraded to .92 if you're curious). The thing is, it doesn't seem to like PA, particularly the forums. Nine times out of ten when I am trying to get to the forums I get a message reading

'The connection was refused when attempting to connect to www.penny-arcade.com.'

I get the same thing about half the time when trying to get to the main site.

IE has no such errors; does anyone have any idea why this is happening to me? Am I missing some important extension (totally possible)? Do I need to go check or uncheck something in options? Is my computer haunted? Any help is appreciated.

Should have been a rock star.

    Firefox has a lower timeout setting than IE. :P The HomeLAN servers hang a little bit, and then you get that error.

    Okay, that's interesting. Any idea what the rational is for that? And more importantly, is there a way to manually change the timeout setting? I didn't see anything when I just poked around in the options menu, but my experience with computers tells me that doesn't mean jack.

    type "about:config" in your address bar in Firefox. That brings up a bunch of stuff you can change. You can then search for "timeout".

    The way I see it, it's one of these three choices, but I don't know which to change.

    network.http.connect.timeout = 30
    network.http.keep-alive.timeout = 300
    network.http.request.timeout = 120

    I guess you could try playing around with those.
