king of the hill is a show about this man:
hank hill, the lone voice of anything resembling sanity and rational thought (though by no means without his own issues) in arlen texas. he sells propane and propane accessories
it is also about his family:
his wife peggy. fuck peggy. peggy is an arrogant jackass who thinks she is just the best thing since and including sliced bread. she is a substitute spanish teacher who once accidentally kidnapped a mexican child because she couldn't understand what the girl was saying.
their son bobby! he rules. 90% of the things bobby does are an attempt to be like a comedian he admires, like celery head, or weird al (who blew his brains out in the late 80s after people stopped buying his records)
it is also about their neighbors dale, bill, and jeff boomhauer. boomhauer rules y'all. boomhauer is the best character because he is the only one who ever seems to be aware of how crazy the whole damn thing is. also because in his mind he is the only one who doesn't talk with that crazy speech impediment. also bill is fat and depressed and dale is a conspiracy theorist who doesn't realize that his wife has been cheating on him with john redcorn for over ten years
it's about being a trucker on christmas, having a father who killed fiddy men and lost his shins in wwii, death, and narrow urethras
it is the best show on television and adult swim has just started reairing it from the beginning, two episodes at a time and you should all watch it! and then we can talk about it!
i'll start: the firefighting episode is great for the scene from boomhauer's perspective where he is just calmly requesting that everyone keep it down while hank angrily mutters about "dang ol' tell you what that boy ain't right"

and this show was really well done
it's hard to keep writing a show about stereotypical characters without slipping into hateful parody territory
and for all his conservative redneck stereotypes, Hank is one HELL of a dude
I wish everyone could be more like him, he's reasonable as fuck
