Agreed. It's not exactly 'right next door' but it's definitely a reasonable walk through the South Lake Union district, which is fairly tame.

I'm more concerned with getting back than I am getting there. I'm at the westin so I can ride the street car up but sadly it shuts down early so I won't have any way that I know of to get back to my hotel. Nothing against Seattle but unless there's a group walking back I really don't wanna be walking alone in any city past midnight/one or two. Especially one I won't really know my way around

Since its not an inconsequential walk, we can meet up in the lobbies of our respective hotels and then walk there as a group. Better to find the location and much better than wandering around an unfamiliar town alone. And I'm sure people can walk back in groups too, especially if you stay to the end.

    Westin checking in.

I'm down for a group walk. Crowne Plaza (though I'd be headed there from the Homewood, meeting up with some friends there immediately post-PAX before heading to the party).

I'll be there for the great exodus out of the building. I'll also be walking to the Sheraton with a cigar/cigarello if anyone wants to share some of those along the way.

Yeah, groups form all too easily for walking, and on the way back if you somehow got yourself stranded without one you could fallback on a taxi. That is unlikely to be needed so long as you make some friends, or bring some along.

I'm not sure if my team and I will be walking back or not. We took cabs last year but it was because we had a bunch of equipment, which we will again, so... who knows. If we did walk we'd have protection on us, so no worries there. :D

It's not a bad walk though, but it's a short cab ride too, so it wouldn't cost too much.

I'm less thinking the cash for a cab ride, and more thinking that if I eat at this year's PPP anything like I did at last year's, I'll be in need of some walking!

Plus, if a medium-large group forms up, it means a longer time before splitting out from the cool people and going back to FOREVER ALONE.

As far as I know you can buy a "raffle donation" ticket in the eventbrite thingy on its own, but I could be wrong.

I hope not too screwed, but I bet we (the people with tickets) could raise the difference via a chipin or something if necessary.

For sure, anybody that's able/willing would definitely be able to chip in extra money if they so desire, to make sure we get the necessary amount to make this thing happen.

Last year, I walked there in sandals, from pretty much pike place market. Then I walked back, on drunken sandals. Worked out fine for me, even ran into some other people headed there.

I'm pretty confident we'll sell out. The buzz is starting to build (no idea why it took so long this year) and people have mentioned that they've had to wait until later in the month to buy their tickets.

We aren't screwed if we don't sell out. I just call Jillian's and adjust our headcount from 300 to 275 or something. I'd rather not do that (mostly because I'll consider it a failure :P), and I don't think we'll have to.

So, very important question for you guys. I had enough ThinkGeek points (from buying prizes for this thing 4 years in a row) to get a free Darth Vader Force FX Lightsaber. I've always wanted one of my own, and this was a nice bonus prize for me. But I couldn't decide between the Luke (RotJ) saber and the Vader saber, so I got them both.

I'm giving ONE away as a raffle prize, and keeping one for myself.

Which one do you guys want? ;)

Vader! And this might just be the most awesome prize ever. I've always wanted one of those Force FX lightsabers, but could never quite justify the cost.

I've got them both, and the Vader saber is a nicer design. It's much closer to what Vader's saber actually looks like on screen. I always felt kind of let down by the design of Luke's saber. They messed up the hilt a bit.

I guess the real question becomes, would you rather keep the nicer one for yourself, or auction it off?

Any luck on that Portal gun? :)

No luck on the Portal gun. They sent the e-mail while I was in the shower and the guns sold out in 15 minutes. Oh well, I'll find something else.

Worst case scenario I'll get another XBox 360. ;)

    Or a 3DS XL maybe?

And I vote for Vader too, though I'd much rather have the green, Vader's is still more badass.

Or a Vita. They all cost around the same, right? Not sure how much 360's go for nowadays.
