Hey there, Classic Adventure Gaming fans as well as those relatively new to our worlds. Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, aka ‘The Two Guys from Andromeda’, are back together. No, your optic orbs have not been on a bender. You read correctly. After a very brief 20+ year hiatus, we have joined forces once again and are tooling-up to bring you a new Space Adventure, or SpaceVenture™, if you will.
A little older, a little wider (well, Mark at least) and a bit more demented than before (a toss-up on that one), we're both ludicrously psyched to be working together again. Combine that with what has been literally years of pent-up intergalactic pressurized cabin fever to go with it and we have some real wonderful…, uh, ‘stuff’ to share, incorporating that same style of comedy, wonder and delusion you expect from a Two Guys SpaceVenture™.
You’d be very surprised to know the range of requests we sought out and have been received from supporters. We know we can’t be everything to everyone but we're working hard to find a happy compromise. The only thing we won’t compromise on is your game-play experience (and maybe caloric intake).
Scott and Mark will have their hands all over this project with final say on everything, including how much cheese and Orat meat goes in the crust. What this means, people, is that no aspect of this game will come into being without the personal, crusty-eyed, occasionally salivating and barely comprehensible approval of The Two Guys from Andromeda. This is YOUR guarantee, for you fans and friends, that everything you are about to see is ultimately the work of The Two Guys.
Before we go any further, lets make clear one major question. What platforms are we working to make the game run on? Scan this list:

Mac
Linux

I hope they get the backing they are looking for, but I am not insanely hopeful. Of all the Sierra fans I know, Space Quest always seems to get the second to last amount of love (right before Police Quest). Space Quest was always my favorite series of all the Quest games, so I will spread the word.
I wonder if they are getting permission to use Roger or if they will be able to use the Space Quest universe.
Doesn't sound like it. They tried to get the license from Activision but failed. Thats why Spaceventure even came into existence.
They should have tried the road that Al Lowe took or maybe they did and it failed. Perhaps if this project does well, they will be able to take the license for a spin.
Maybe, though Lowe licensed from Codemasters, not Activision.

And on a somewhat unrelated note, I keep noticing that in these Kickstarter games DRM free is used as a bit of a selling point.
I love that as much as the next guy, I just think it is weird that not having to jump through hoops to play a game I paid real money for is a selling point. :P
Pass.
Fucking Sierra.

You need to download Chrome to get it.
In the latter years, the death sequences just played out and then brought you back to the point in the game just prior to the mistake, right? Hilarious death sequences don't necessarily mean they're giving us the early "YOU WILL DIE" Sierra Quest experience.
And my buckazoids.
I think it is interesting that they are exploring different options for their game engine. It will be neat to see the whole thing done using an HTML5 gaming engine.
They have been using http://sarien.net/ for all of their prototyping so far.
They do have a Space Quest Collection up on steam.
It also uses terribly configured DOSBox settings. Space Quest 4 will require you to download the latest version of DOSBox and set the clock cycles lower. It was a very rush job and Activision completely ignored all requests for an update on Steam. I bought SQ and KQ on Steam and am happy they allowed the option. I just wish they cared to make them work properly (like GOG does).
I can't tell from your wording if you already know this, but the Quest games are indeed available on GOG. Even though it was probably my... 4th? 5th? time buying some of them, I snatched a bunch of them up a few months ago when they were all on sale.
I'm getting Kickstarter burnout, too, but I have to keep reminding myself that joining a Kickstarter isn't the same as putting in a preorder. Unless there's some backer bonus that's just irresistible, there's no reason to just wait for the actual release when it comes to these Kickstarter games you know are going to meet their funding goals.
They have a lot of information about who they are, the cast they have picked up, and a few snippets of concept art. They still haven't given us any sort of synopsis on what we are actually backing aside from, "It will be like Space Quest." This isn't enough to pickup non-Space Quest people. I have tried to convince some friends to back this project, but they have no idea why they should. I explain how funny and entertaining the Space Quest games were, but it is hard to use 20 year old games as an example of what we might expect.
Let's look at Grim Dawn. They have had in-game footage of the game, in-game rewards for higher tier backers, and rewards that everyone gets for going past their original lower goal. They still aren't up to 500k as of posting this, but have well exceeded their 300k goal.
The Pinkerton road Kickstarter also had a slow start. I feel like Jane and crew were able to make and go beyond their goal of 300k because they started releasing solid information of what the game was going to be about. They really couldn't gain a whole ton of traction off of name dropping alone in the beginning.
The pledged amount for Spaceventure actually went backwards this morning.
I am aware they are on GOG. I had bought them previously on Steam, as CygnusZ mentioned. I also have one the original collectors (2nd edition, I believe) set CDs. I was just using it as an example of Vivendi not really giving a damn about the series judging from the ignored pleas from Steam users back when it was released on Steam.
And Jane got its push because the Sierra fans came over from the Larry Kickstarter and helped.
The last one I played was King's Quest 6, and that was really unforgiving. You got to go back to your last save point, and when I was younger I didn't save very often. :P
...It's funny: I'm glad that fan interest in the adventure genre is bringing these games back for those who are interested in them (both in terms of players & designers), but I personally haven't missed adventure games at all. The experience is just too linear for my current tastes.
I've been really surprised by the surge of interest & actual monetary support for these titles.
I hope you are right. I would have never thought it even possible to get Scott and Mark together again working on a game.

Yes, I see no reason why it wouldn't be funded at 500k, especially if a remake of the first Larry game - one that some said wouldn't be funded because it's not a sequel - could make it at 500k.
And yes to Jane's Kickstarter - hers was moving glacially until the Larry people got involved. But I believe that a big part of that is that she shockingly underplayed her involvement in PC gaming, so many people weren't exactly sure what they were funding and why.
about the kickstarter please let the two guys know, they WILL listen! Thank you

I listened to the entire twitch live stream and they were sort of admitting that they were having to offer more/work harder to reach their goal than previous Kickstarters. This is in part due to the burn-out/fatigue. Out of all of the new adventure games being kickstarted, this one will upset the most if it doesn't make it. I miss Space Quest.
If they begin updating again they will make it. Though both Tex and Carmageddon are certainly in better standing at the moment. It's deserved though, as they both have the better pitch. Rushed Prototype 1 and their seperated physical/digital rewad tiers didn't exactly help

Very excited about this game!
