PPS It's even less of a problem in a mini. Worst case scenario, you make a sort-of busted mini. It can't be worse than Isaac! Or a Sportzphalla if you (don't) prefer.
Whoa whoa whoa, don't disrespect Isaac phalla, ya jerk.
Also, dear mafia, why did you never contact me beyond Bedlam's dying message? Surely having a village idiot would benefit you guys.
Neutrals really arent trustworthy to the mafia. Since (IMO) they would have a better chance to win with the village and be more likely to side with them for the easy victory.
This outcome is why I think mafia POWERS for extra kills are a bad idea. Despite the fact I did that in my last mini, they would have gotten something in return should they lose the vig.
I disagree; I think it's fine to make someone kind of OP (seriously I could only die to vote) with consequences. I was either basically going to win it if I lived (two kills + loves kills? yea...) or we were in deep trouble if I died quick. We still had a chance, but it was pretty damaging to us, right @bedlam
Not what I was saying at all. I'm saying mafia members that account for their smaller/greater numbers or special imbalance in the game can throw off the balance of the game because of RNG or silly grudges, like you getting voted out day 1 and them losing their ability to be competitive with the village.

And I'm saying that is fine. Not every game needs to be vanilla with 1 seer, 1 vig, 1 guard. Yes, any time you deviate from the vanilaa, OP can happen. DOesn't matter, it's fun and more interesting than vanilla.

I don't want to claim that victory was all my doing and I was a completely awesome vig.
But our victory was all me and I was a completely awesome vig.
The mafia need to learn that you come at the dean, you best not miss.
I need to crit your awesomeness a sec.
you shouldnt call a vote on a sure fire mafia when you can vig them. It makes it harder for the rest of the village to decipher votes when they all go one way. Essentially it wastes a day to build evidence against the remaining members. It probably could have ended on day 6 if you didnt do that.

actually it's fine to do this when you're not certain what the powers of the mafia are, i.e. if you're worried about them having a guard or something
the important part is WHEN you do it. you can learn just as much from the discussion early in the day as you can in late-day discussion, as long as people are willing to have it.

There's a difference between giving the mafia interesting powers and giving them a staple power on a character that if that character dies early it doesn't resolve the game without any chance of comeback. The best games are balanced that the most powerful people on either side can die really early and still allow a win for either team.
My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)

And we could have won with any sort of luck after I died; say we hit 2 more love kills, we probably win. We would have probably lost without the love kills and with a static 2 kills per day. It was just fine.

I had originally planned to give the mafia two group kills, but I was afraid that with those two plus the love kills that they'd be over powered. So I gave on of the kills to Jeff. I also added the busdriver at the last minute as well. In retrospect I probably should have only done one of those or neither, but really I didn't expect the RNG gods to work out the way they did with Sportz and mafia.
Yes, if you want to yell at someone about the mafia vig, yell at me. I was the one who told cayrus that while the lovers concept was neat, he needed to balance it out, as even with 30 people, 2 and a half-ish mafia kills a day would probably make the mafia over powered. I was the one who suggested the 2nd kill be made a vig, and the busdriver at the last minute too.
Normally, it probably would have been fine, but....SPORTZGRUDGES
