    Zedath nods to the avenger and motions for Mazdrah to move closer to Bahl'Monah. The shaman touches a gem on the diadem he is wearing, and he feels his sense sharpen dramatically.

    He aims his totem swiftly at the dragon and whispers, "Tear the wickedness from your own hide, my scaly nemesis."

    Enjoying watching the dragon try and bite its own tail, Kothargix keeps his distance from the dragon. In his wounded state, it would be wise not to drift closer to use his more powerful magics. Also, he can move very well at the moment anyway. Instead he unleashes his trusty ball of Dragonfrost at Bahl'Monah, freezing and cracking her scales yet again. The simple attack whets Kothargix appetite for destruction and reinforces his body to withstand the battle. He then directs his new bauble to send the ghostly dragonspirits to attack Bahl'Monah this time, and not himself.

    Actions:
    Standard: Dragonfrost vs. Fort = HIT!!! for 27 Cold damage. Spellfury: +4 THP & +1 Attack until EONT
    Minor: Arcana to direct dragon sprits = 26

    In the chaos of fluffy clouds and razor grapeshot, a number of things happen at once. The avenger's spear bites down to the bone of the dragoness, carved a terrible scar and sending her into a tailspin; Amon'Kul launches himself like a cannonball, denting the beast's spine as she is being held in place by ethereal chains; grapeshot explodes upward into her exposed wing, burying a million tiny shards into the thin(ner) membrane while the kobold's bolt further brittles her skin.

    Any one of these things would invoke a terrible rage from a red dragon. Together, however, they awaken a primal rage in Bahl'Monah. With soundless calm she exhales a storm of flames- though she is imprisoned, all of her foes, bar the sorcerer, are still singed by the blast. In the eye of this storm Amon'Kul stands resolute before the seething hatred. The cracking of his bones between her claws barely sates her bloodlust.

    Kothargix, determined to put a hurt on this dragon but not his friends, aligns his little body in an arrow formation and, using his higher altitude, dives into Bal'Monah's flank with his dagger leading the way. As he chants the words to a powerful spell the dagger flares with a powerful light. Many lights really, running through the entire spectrum in rapid succession: yellow, red, green, turquoise, blue and violet... yellow, red, green, turquoise, blue and violet...Finally settling on green as Kothargix's charge plants the Goblin Totem Dagger deep into the dragon's hide (well, as deep as a dagger can go) and unleashing a poisonous explosion that rattles her internal organs and sets them to rot.

    Actions:
    Move to D12
    Standard: Prismatic Explosion (channeled via dagger) = HIT!!! for 47 poison damage + 15 ongoing poison damage (save ends).
    Minor: Arcana to control spirits = 28

    Evanche smirks and for the first time since fighting these scaled creatures feels amused: fire being used against her as if to kill her, a touching gesture. To repay the favour she chants a glyph in the air in front of the dragon's eyes, searing them into their sockets and burning the heresy out of him one orb at a time. Combined with the strike from the Angel still harrying its flank, the dragon cries out as its vision darkens and then fades completely...at least temporarily, but with the hope that enough was taken from this creature in order to inch it that much closer to death.

    Actions:
    Minor Action: Angel of Light Attack (Melee 1, Divine, Radiant) vs Reflex: 1d20+22+2 41 1d10+10=15 Radiant Damage. Until the end of my next turn Bahl'Monah Does Not have Line of Sight to anyone more than 5 squares away.

    Poom. Poom. Poom. The time it takes for the sound of defensive fire to reach the slayers is getting steadily shorter, but our heroes manage to avoid most of the mammoth payload. Kothargix and the shaman both take a battering from torso-sized slugs, but it's not enough to disintegrate them just yet. It seems the slayers are a more imposing target than the overweight dragon. The mind boggles at what sort of training the royal guard have gone through.

    The rotund dragon in question, blood flying upward out of a dozen deep wounds, twists and snarls in the air. Blinded once again, she roars a fiery retort and claws desperately at her foes. Her desperation betrays her, however, blunting her otherwise formidable strength.

    Tumbling through the air on crumpled wings, Bahl'Monah clutches and gasps at the hole in her throat. The dragoness whispers something, but the sound is lost to the wind and the palace artillery. Her massive bulk plummets away from the slayers who, professionals that they are, pursue to confirm the kill. Like a meteor of red scaled flesh, the elder dragon crashes through the palace roof in a plume of dust and blood.

    Swooping, flying or simply falling with style, our heroes dodge and dive between clouds of flechette and enter the palace through it's new sunroof. Passing a cross section of several halls and dining rooms, the slayers find their quarry- or what is left of her- in what looks to be the Royal Vault. Bahl'Monah lies flattened on a pile of gold, the only part of her not reduced to red paste is her belly.

    Before there can be any celebration a keening sort of cracking sound can be heard. The pale tummy-flesh of the ex-dragon starts to split and distend, hissing as it sloughs off of a giant obsidian egg. Even if they weren't professional dragon hunters, the team could easily tell that it was about to hatch. Grabbing anything of use from the treasure-strewn vault, they prepare themselves for battle.

    Corellon speaks to his Favoured Soul, directing the Eladrin's attention to a brooch depicting his symbol, and a ring that gleams atop it. Affixing the brooch to his breast, Alénthian's robes flare and radiate with every colour of a pure sunrise, empowering him with pure, divine purpose. The ring he wears strengthens his command of that other dimension that lays upon Prime, and the Avenger smiles widely, feeling his powers grow and blossom.

    The slayers pose as a team (because shit just got real), waiting for whatever abomination is about to emerge. Long seconds inch by, the egg's obsidian shell shifting and crackling ominously. Then, in the blink of an eye, the obelisk of an object melts into the golden hoard beneath it. It disappears like mist into the infinite nooks and crannies of the king's hoard. The slayers seem a little disappointed that it's just gone- what an anti-climax.

    Their hearts jump with joy though, when piles of gold explode upward, melting with the force and fury they were looking for. A leering face emerges from the boiling metal, baring fangs as tall as Amon'Kul. It is the gleaming visage of Nihilox- Maker of Nothing. "Greeetings ladies and gentleman." The words seethe from the very air in maddening waves. "It would seem you are all ready. Would you care to make your first play, madam?" He seems to be looking to the eladrin.

    While he speaks two humongous talons emerge from the hoard, one crackling with lightning, the other sheathed in ethereal flames. They beckon with clawed fingers.

    "It beginnns."

    "Aaaaah it is so goooood to feel pain again." Nihilox's eerie features stretch and contort into what could be a grin, oily in the light of the molten gold. One gigantic fist launches past Amon'Kul, cuffing his shield, and closes around Evanche. "It makes us strrrrong does it not?" His voice sussurates, becoming more corporeal. "I should shaarrre it with you."

    Twin beams of whitehot flame blink from his enormous pupils, striking at the shaman and sorcerer. Their wards absorb much of the strike, but this does nothing to remove the dragon's expression of glee. "And you, sweet elf-" his other talon snatches up the eladrin, turning him over like a toy "You cannot wish to do harm, hmm?" The words take on their previous echoes, fogging the avenger's mind.

    Zedath waves his hand, and Mazdrah appears next to Alénthian. "Fear not, Alénthian, for Mazdrah will break the wyrm's hold on you!"

    The spirit nods and thrusts both of its sandy arms into the air. Mazdrah becomes wreathed with flames that lash out toward the dragon. Only the creature's head is scorched, but the flames remain, seeking to drive back winter's chill and bring peace to the shaman's allies.

    Not waiting to see if Mazdrah's aid succeeded with the eladrin or not, Zedath flicks his newly acquired totem at the ground. Soft white light pulses from Mazdrah, and a small tether appears to connect to and strengthen all of the deva's allies within reach of the sand spirit.

    "Take your dirty claws off of her you overgrown salamander!", screams Amon'kul as transforms and begins to resemble a brutish denizen of the Nine Hells. Then he tears into the claw holding Evanche moving it away from her and steels himself for the retalliation.

    Actions:
    Move- Diabolic Transformation- Amon'kul transforms into a diabolic brute until the end of the encounter. While he is in this form, he gains regeneration 4, increases fire resistance by 5, gains a +2 bonus to damage rolls, and the bonus to attack rolls granted by Bloodhunt racial trait increases to +2.

    Reeling under the grab, she lets out a relieved sigh as the friendly demon comes to her aid, shoving the claw far off into the distance. Tapping her heels together she summons a pair of small, feathery wings attached to her boots that flap and carry her up and closer to the abomination. Inhaling, she lets out a loud shout that reverberates across the pile of gold beneath her and sears into the mind of her target (presuming it has one). While feeling like nothing more to her party members than a sudden, mild shockwave, the shout screams into the ears of the dragon with the voices of thousands of wailing, tortured dragons. They scream for its death, of its betrayal to its kind, and of the pain yet to come. Recoiling, the claws and head retreat from the immediate battle, shoved into the molten gold without heed for their own safety.

    Nihilox's head reels back on it's sinuous neck and finally the grin falters. Only able to glare through his wounds, he lashes out pettily before withdraws his scarred visage into the wall of molten gold. Though only his forearms are still visible before them, his voice rings out in Evanche's ears "You've proven yourself worthy of servitude, little devil. Now finish the others..."

    Evanche's head, already ringing from the shout she had just delivered that sent the draconic head reeling into molten lava, cringes as a voice booms through her head. Hoar's servants, however, are not without their own defenses and as the dragon's words work to take control of her body, invisible walls of psychic barriers drop down and force the alien influence out as quickly as possible.

    Almost lazily, Kothargix tosses another Ball of Dragonfrost at the floating claw crackling with lightning. The magical frost coats the claw, freezing it solid and causing it to drop to the bed of coins, cracking and breaking off as it lands. Satisified with his field position at the moment, Kothargix stands pat, but there was more fight left to this last beast, he was sure.

    Actions:
    Standard: Dragonfrost vs. Right Claw = HIT!!! for 30 Cold damage. Floating Claw dead. Koth gains temp. HP from Spellfury again.

    The gigantic claw flinches and twists, withdrawing into the molten gold to the sound of a psychic howl of pain. The mass of precious metal convulses and churns before settling to pool among the king's hoard. The respite is short however, for no sooner have the slayers regained their composure when the pool convulses once more but, instead of rising up to engulf them, flattens outward to reveal a single ogre-sized figure of pure shining metal.

    "Well... less is more. Besides, you could do with levelling the playing field a little..." The hunched figure flexes it's powerful arms, cooling metal crunching and crackling around it. Two blacks pits for eyes finish the sense of a crude imitation of life. A dark flare lights those pits, magnifying the glow of the construct's body. "I can live forever, mortals, in whatever form I choose! Surrender now and I will only torture your souls for a few aeons..."

    Actions:
    You can all spend a healing surge and regain a single encounter attack power.

    All end of encounter effects end, as do all save ends effects.
