this diablo fight is stupid and i'm not having fun with it
if i had known they were gonna take my follower away i probably would've invested in more vitality gear
my build totally sucked for him so I ended up tanking all his stuff(even lightning hose) with diamond skin and hacking away with the melee ability then running around until cooldowns reset. felt almost like cheesing it
this is actually the exact same thing i did to beat him
and then i felt stupid for not having tried it before! that's what i get for trying to play this game legitimately
The proper way to wizard him is just let your arcane hydra kill him. And teleport away from the lightning hose.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
Yay, beat it last night. Now I'm just goofing off before moving to nightmare. Trying to farm up the items for the secret level (since I got the pattern as a drop - wonder if it's 100% or I just got lucky), kind of a pain in the ass (have all but the last one which requires me to FIND a random dungeon that can spawn in several spots, and then hope there is a rare monster up that drops it... so far no luck). Of course I also need to come up with about 50,000 more gold yet too
I didn't get the recipe.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
spectral blade and explosion do serious damage. I did most of normal with it but now I use blizzard and hydra while hosing them down with disintegrate until I can rune out some of my spells more

Man, that fight was boring as shit. Considering all the hooplah raised over him being
the Prime Evil, embodiment of all 7 noteworthy Lords of Hell and Hell Honcho Supreme, you'd think that he'd invoke various aspects of the 7 done as some kind of a roulette or something so the fight would be different from game to game.
But nope, just the same schtick over and over. What a wasted opprotunity.

The hilarious thing about that fight, at least on normal:
He's stunnable! I stunlocked him with runed Cluster Arrow - Dazzling Arrow. Made the fight a joke once I figured out a good sequence (Grenades w/ the Hatred bonus help to regen hatred super fast too)

So, what do you get when you have an elite pack of demon shamans (that raise their fellows) combined with a siege breaker in the back spitting out dudes that you can't reach?
Anyone have a suggestion of a good place to farm gold? I need a bunch :P Might just be better off running around killing shit...
I agree with Dr. Keenbean. It seems like a trite and short answer, but you can sell pretty much all of your unused rares for more than the vendor will give you on the Auction House. Anything priced below 10k gold seems to get slurped up within a day.
For just gold collecting currently, my favorite run is starting with Kill Asmodan (easiest boss, and you get two quest clears for beating him and heading to Act IV for a very fast 3.9k quest gold above whatever you earn), at whatever difficulty you can handle, then moving on to Act IV to clean up the quick boss battles after that (as well as clustered vases to break). I have a full kit of Gold Find gear putting me at something like 150% Gold Find, which makes about 25% of the gold piles dropped into these massive puddles of gold bars and coins (600-900 gold for the big ones). It's probably FAR more efficient, though, to whore out the magic find attribute and do boss runs, then sell the rares on the Auction House.
I was trying to test out the game with a guest pass when I realized that I could only use European servers (they have lots of lag). I think my guest pass was from a European guy's box. Could an American please give me a guest pass, so I can see if that works?
I'm not a fan of Arcane Orb since its traveling speed is so bloody slow. Its hit box is also surprisingly small. I'm missing more than I'm hitting! Plus, it runs out pretty quickly when you're spamming it even at the reduced cost. Piercing Orb seems much more effective. Arcane Torrent is fine too since you can just click on a target and it'll travel there at a decent pace. None of the runes seem all that exciting though.
Piercing Orb is surprisingly strong -- probably too strong. It feels bugged, like it's doing way more than the listed 105% damage.

Like music and pornography, Diablo is better hardcore.
I think it's either flawless square or perfect square, meaning the highest tier of gem will be incredibly expensive to make.
Flawless square is the highest I've seen in act 1 inferno, but perhaps you can get higher later.
I'm not sure if this ever got answered as I don't really want to trawl the 10 pages between just to forget about it at some point but above Square is Star with Radiant Star being the highest.
Edit: It did not.
I feel so behind! Due to university responsibilities (passing and such) I've barely been able to play. I'm only halfway-ish through Normal Act II
currently looking for a certain someone's head
and you're all talking about finishing your 16th Inferno run or some craziness!
Come Wednesday, the catch up begins and it is going to be glorious.
Oh, also, is there any point in levelling smith/jeweler before the harder levels? I assume that he doesn't carry over and the money I've sunk into him already was a total waste?

one thing I'm pissed about d3 or blizzard itself is it already has those annoying bots filling up my screen when I play..
Joke's on you for joining general chat? Related, can people whisper you that aren't your friends or in a game with you? I'm thinking not, what with the Battletags.

Nope, they carry over all difficulties and all characters.
In fact, they'll spawn in A1 before you would normally to meet them, as will the companions [*SEE SPOILER BELOW]. Higher difficulties have different mats for the Smith when salvaging and creating.
Shen is up past by the far gate in town, and all of the side characters have Act I conversations around plot points if you're going after achievements.

But there is no real point salvaging much of anything (before maybe maxing the Blacksmith out, I guess). The mats don't carry over into the next difficulty, so you'll out level it all quickly on top of it being cheaper to buy them off the AH.
"For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men. Not women. Not beasts...this you can trust."
Can't decide what to play after my Monk. Wizard or Witch Doctor?
WD seems whacky-crazy-fun, but Wizards look neat too.
Witch doctor feels so slow and laid back after playing my monk, I can't stand it.
Monk just has so much energy in its play style.
Wait till you get to higher difficulties and then the WD becomes an utter adrenaline rush to play. Early on yeah it was just hide behind pets and lob shit but now?
It's like, fuuuck I have hardly any life okay time to pop spirit walk and use these two seconds to get into a swarm, drop my soul siphon to hit the max number of people for healing and the damage boost, and then get back out, just in time to drop your slow and stack some spirit barrages oh shit why isn't my health going up as fast as it should oh shit the guys that I haunted must have been too far away when they died so it didn't hop okay gotta recast it fuck I only got one application off before I went OOM okay 2 seconds until spirit walk comes back up so I can get enough mana to set back up until then time for some choice blowdart sniping yes its back up I've got this fight YESSSSS
I kind of got a little disheartened when my pets stopped being useful on my WD and wandered aimlessly between builds for a bit. But my current one is just so much fun to play and does so much damage that I am in love with the class more than I ever have been.
Just now got back to the PA boards, still adjusting to all of the changes since the last time I really posted was when these boards looked quite different. Anywho, back to the actual subject : I've been playing a WD after playing a DH to about level 16 and I am LOVING it, it's a bit easier when doing single player and it's a complete breeze whilst playing with a full group, though I know that'll be changing on higher difficulties. If anyone wants to add me, I am in the middle of Act II on my WD and my battle tag is HanShotFirst#1609.
Finished nightmare on my DH tonight. Ended up clearing Act 4 in under 45 minutes with no deaths. Little shy of 16k hp and 4k dps. It definitely feels like all the bosses/champions are fast, even without that specific buff. I've found the worst combo to be anything that snares + anything that leaves crap on the ground. I got absolutely destroyed by a group of wall + molten + freeze zombies. It seems difficult now, but I know if I just spend the time or gold I'll be OP again and not have to worry about it.
In regards to AH prices on gems and crafting stuff. If everyone just vendored all their magics and rares it'd get real expensive real fast. It's been less than a week, people are still testing the market. It'll all change once the RMAH opens anyways, cause people will just be buying gold and everything will cost $Texas on the gold AH.

I am not prepared for this game. Apparently I should have bought a new chair, cause my butt cannot handle much longer in this chintzy office chair. I keep wanting to get on, but I'm uncomfortable within a few minutes.

I'm running cleave/bash, hammer, shockwave, leap, and earthquake on my 34 barb. Decimate through regular mobs easily but bosses giving me trouble. Bash can probably be phased out for something more useful I guess, but only using cleave gets boring.
You don't want two primary attacks. That's a waste of a slot. Bash is good single target damage which is what you want against bosses - you could also take the high damage Hammer rune instead if you want to keep Cleave. Basically as you go into the later difficulties you want to make sure there are no redundancies in your build - six slots is just enough to handle the various situations the game throws at you later on and there's no room for overlap. I think the Barb's non-elective skill categories are actually pretty reasonable.

Reminds me of Touhou. Which is a good thing. Positioning actually matters rather than merely trading hits.

I'm thinking something like this:

And then stack Int, attack speed and flat damage.
Definitely worth rolling a Wizard just to test it out.

Use int buff to buff int. Fire off bats. Loot. Wait for mana to regen.
I had the unique joy of going against a waller, invulnerable minion, arcane champion today. Kind of made me want to gauge my eyes out!
Which just ends up feeling like a hassle considering its short duration
Think I'm probably going to leave my WD alone for awhile and make a Wizard instead
Fired one Arcane Torrent into the mass, and promptly died.
