The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
it's currently in development by a newly formed Korean development studio.
Akira Toriyama us personally supervising the development with Bandai & Bandai Korea(holding Korean license repectively) currently in search of a publisher.
Looking at the second screenshot I notice that even in a DBZ game, it's still lame to have your name be SS *insert name*. Real players would play as the Ginyu force anyway. They get chocolate bars and other assorted candies.
If this is true, it is awesomesauce. The only thing I want to be made into an MMO more than this is Starcraft.
I don't even like DBZ all that much, but the games often turn out to be a blast. Just something about huge explosions and melee you can barely see turns me on.
There's going to be MMOs of every 80's property soon enough, so soon i'll be able to achieve my life's dream of watching ninja turtles eating captain crunch while fighting player controlled foot soldiers.
Seriously though, does it not cost money to make an MMO in korea? These things are pumped and pimped twice a week.
I dunno about this... as a large DBZ fan, I'd love for there to be an actually GOOD DBZ MMORPG, I know the community would be horrible at best, but I know enough friends who would be interested for us to just have fun with it ourselves.
But there's something fishy about this that I can't quite place my finger on...
If this is real though, and AT is supervising it? It seems like it could potentially prove interesting, or at the very least amusing. Wonder if they'll use a traditional level/skill system, or one more like those seen on the DBZ MUDs out there, where instead of levels, all you have is a powerlevel that increases from fighting in general. (Fighting stronger things = More powerful increase. Simple, yet effective.)
Eh, I don't think I have the time for a game where the battles take weeks to resolve themselves.
That's why it's so perfect for a subscription game. They hit the attack button, then every week or so they check back in to see how the power charge is going. Server and bandwidth load and thus running costs are low since nobody is actually doing anything, users won't mind waiting a month for one attack to complete since it's an expected part of the mythos, plus they'll keep paying their monthly fee because OMG DBZ111!. It's brilliant.

Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.
Because the Dragonball universe just doesn't make a good setting for a game where you're not playing someone from the show. Period. The universe is based AROUND these characters. It's not like Star Wars or The Matrix where he's a lot of material based around other characters in a fully fleshed out universe. It's Goku and his friends and family. They're the focus. That's it.
Also this game is going to have SWG's everyone-wants-to-be-a-Jedi problem in fucking spades.

Nope, that won't work. You can't power up without hours of taunts, monologues, inspring speeches, empty threats, etc. You have to sit there and type out your entire life story before every attack.

That's not good. At all.

WHICH ONE?!?!
Note: every MMO I've ever played is/was inhabited with several players who seemed to be under the impression that they were playing a Dragon Ball MMO.
Dear god the players alone could be the worse..
I never asked for this!
I'm totally going to try this out though.
Or maybe a Smurfs MMO.
damn you WoW. Damn you EQ for starting all of this
You're thinking about the wrong 80s properties.
Transformers MMO.
Ghostbusters MMO.
My Little Pony MMO.

One of many reasons why I'm skeptical this is even legit.

in the same way that regular multiplayer was "a fad"
Nameless developers out there. Are you listening to this man?
Something in the vein of CoX but with customisable transformers.
Seriously, if there was ever an MMO most suited to grinding, it would be a DBZ MMO.
Links? Official site? Betas? Any more information?

Find the Dragon Balls.
Now, what do you suppose happens in game when you do that? I mean, I don't think they can just let you "win".

Naw I think they'll be OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAND!
The hitch is that you would have to travel the entire million kilometer journey in real time.

But that wouldn't nearly be as marketable, plus...y'know...Korea.
