i think it's a few short stories involving several of the books spinning out of the CW. Think of it as an Initiative appetizer.

This all-new special written by Brian Bendis, especially for modern legend Marc Silvestri, debuts the all new IRON MAN, OMEGA FLIGHT, MIGHTY AVENGERS, NEW AVENGERS and with a special chapter written by Warren Ellis...THUNDERBOLTS! It's been a couple of months since the last Authority issue. This issue better at least have one of the title characters in it. The first issue didn't exactly explode out of the gates pacing-wise.

Most of the other Wildstorm relaunch books are up around 5 or 6 issues but Authority and WildC.A.T.S. are both at 1. :P

Man, Dark Tower and Criminal were phenomenal. I'm not done reading my other stuff, but I just wanted to say that.

Most of the other Wildstorm relaunch books are up around 5 or 6 issues but Authority and WildC.A.T.S. are both at 1. :P

i flipped through it at the store and i saw midnighter and the engineer so...there's that

also, they were all out of captain america at my store, and apparently they've been getting calls from shops around the city looking to find some more copies

    it sold...well

Listen to this man. His words are made with pure, wholesome truth.

Except for that "last issue" shit; it was the last issue of the "Coward" story arc. The next story arc starts in May. Stop trying to jinx it, Servo! :x

I was pretty sure that's what you meant, but I didn't want to take any chances. From the way Brubaker keeps going on about getting the word out about the book, I'm almost scared that it's not doing quite well enough to sustain itself. This must not be allowed to happen.

Has JLA been getting any better? I bought the first few issues and didn't find anything special about it so I dropped it. I can't quite pin down where the problem was, but I'd say it was just the entire presentation as a whole -- the writing and the art. Did I make a mistake? Am I missing out on something truly wonderful?

i was talking to the guy at my shop today about it, and apparently brubaker says criminal is doing 'very well' (he comes in to the shop from time to time and they ask him about stuff)

edit- not to say that i'm sure it couldn't be doing better. it's great stuff, and should be a'toppa the sales charts

I'm sure all the publicity didn't hurt. I imagine Joe Q. anticipated this after the big to do over Spidey's demasking. It was a no brainer to take advantage of an event that's just as big.

52- Basically just one very long (albeit cool) fight scene that sets up some stuff for WWIII. Eddy Barrows' art was very nice, and the writing was perfectly fine, with a few nice one-liners. B+

Boneyard- Richard Moore continues to write a funny, quip-filled book with excellent pacing and beautiful, cartoony art. A

Justice League of America- Well, it took this book seven issues to finally get the team in one spot and start punching things, but it's damn satisfying when they finally do. Everyone gets a cool little moment, with Red Tornado coming out with the King Badass hat. This issue also addressed something that I always wanted to see; why is it that a superstrong villain will often tear off a robotic hero's arm, which is logically most likely made of battle-ready metal alloys, but he'll never do it to a flesh and blood hero? Now we know. Because it's really super gross. A

Manhunter- Really? That's how Ted came back? Okay I guess. Though I'm kind of tired of that particular cop-out. Still, it's a good story, which continues to juggle numerous plotlines with a lot of skill. Though I have to imagine that Andreyko's going to have some difficulty wrapping up all the plotlines in one more issue, unless he plans to just continue things when the series picks back up later. Great story, great art. Buy Manhunter. A

Everyman from Infinity Inc. had been posing as him. This leaves me with questions. Who's pulling his strings from the shadows? How did he get a piece of Ted Kord to eat and assume his shape, when Ted had been incinerated post-mortem? How'd he managed to mimic Ted's mannerisms and personality so well that Batman couldn't even tell the difference? How'd he know how to fly Beetle's bugship?

Eh. I liked my, "Cyborg Max Lord was just using telepathic voodoo to make everyone see Beetle, the Madmen, and working parachutes" explanation better. For all I know this could just be another fake-out. I hope so, because I got tired of the old shapeshifter routine following all that dumbfuckery with Clayface in Hush.

I was kinda pissed I couldnt find CA, I thought it was Civil War tie-in so they'd pull it for me, but it seems it wasent on the original checklist and I never updated them with it. And from the sounds of it the issue has sold out at most stores with no chance of it being re-ordered. Guess I'm stuck waiting for the 2nd printing. =/

Helmet of Fate: Zauriel was really cool. I wasn't expecting it to be funny. It makes me want to pick up the rest of Morrison's JLA run, since I only have New World Order & Rock of Ages.

    Also, on Manhunter:
I don't like how they made Everyman fight like Clayface. We have Clayface. We don't need another shapeless mass fighting with tentacles. What did he eat to turn into that?
