Now I keep getting Bad Version no matter what I do.
Steam ArmA2+OA
Had ArmA2 updated via the beta patch ARMA2_OA_Build_93160
Used Worrom to update
Later tried using ARMA2_OA_Build_93415, but no luck on that either.
Edit: And of course, the one last try I have after posting this, it works. :P
Edit 2: There's a ping limit now? Great...
I wish I understood this so I knew how to fix the issue.
edit: Alright. I think it was just enough info for me to fix it.

Interesting first night.
Life 1: Spawn somewhere on the coast, not sure where. Head inland, wonder around the forest for 20 minutes. Come across a shack with 4 zombies around it. I take down 3 before a random survivor comes from behind and shoots me. Huh.
Life 2: Spawn at the dock of Komorovo. Make my way out of the town, find the ATC tower in Belota. In the middle of picking up a decent amount of goodies, I turn around and see a survivor looking at me. I try to talk on the channel that is the immediate area but I don't find the button, so I look down and away from him. He amazingly starts walking past me, so I start walking...until I get to the staircase, where he turns and shoots me.
Life 3: Spawn at Krutoy Cap, start heading north for the barn. I run the 10 minutes to the inland road...where I promptly fall dead, hearing a shot about 1.5 seconds after I die.
Going to want to a. find groups and b. shoot everyone not in those groups.

LE SIGH.
A good run capped by tragedy. Me and I think his name is karrade (SE guy) drop down a channel and head north. The other PA types were farting around in cherno. We hit every deer stand from Gorka up to devil's castle. We hit everything up to the super market by the NE airstrip. The strip itself. All we had for our trouble was an alice pack for me, and an extra mag for both our primarys. We were safe and fed though. It was late, I wanted to park north of Berezino. When we got there, there they were.... military tents. And it looked clear. I left the decision to my partner, one last go or call it a day. Onward we went. In literally the first tent.... a coyote starter bag lay.... someone had just been there even though we scoped the place for a few minutes. One of us remarks "this is not good." We split up I am in a foward tent to his. 4 shots ring out. 2 kill my partner. 2 miss me. Had to be more than one guy and luckily my guy is not a good shot. My partner is dead before he hit the ground. Im alone in a tent (which doesnt block bullets for future reference). I peel out around the tent away from my perecieved shot direction. I am serpintining as hard as I can- I get winged. 4000 blood gone and I am bleeding out. But I am on my feet! Snake run out of there- bullets are hitting the ground around me and buzzing past my head. 400m out I weave through trees. 500m out I stop behind a bush bandage and eat 3 steaks- I have sub 8k blood now but no bleed. And a silenced mp5 that will not out range whatever is barking at me over the hill. Bullets are STILL hitting near my bush- they are firing at me but all the running is taking a toll on thier aim. I run another 300m with them still blasting rounds at me. Snake running again saves me as they light up a hill I'm climbing. I get over the hill and go another 200 or so to the next tree line. I turn and pull out the 'nocks. Nothing. Lost em.
I never once saw the attackers. In retrospect there could have been 2 or more bullet vectors in the initial ambush. Its really hard to do evasive manuevers and look over your shoulders.... I never even sillouetted them.
I didn't even have time to triage my partner. Crappy way to finish a good run.

Living after Day Z isn't easy. It only takes a few betrayals to make someone quick on the trigger. I started my day near the Balota Airstrip, quietly keeping to myself and looking for better arms when someone rips around the corner pursued by two of the abominations. I hold my breath, weapon drawn as I question: to help or to flee? "He needs to learn to protect himself. It'll make him stronger." At least that's what I tell myself so I can sleep at night- not that anyone is sleeping anymore. I run behind cover and hear the shots- he made it. I yell out, "FRIENDLY," not sure if I mean it or not yet. Maybe I'm just waiting for that clean headshot.
God must have been with him though, because he was never in my crosshairs- I didn't see him until he was behind me- but he didn't shoot. It's a lonely world- and that simple act of letting me live ignites a small ember of hope in my dead soul. "OK" I thought, "let's see where this goes." We continue to search the airfield, him running loudly on the pavement, me more careful, quiet, and always behind him. I find some sort of machine gun, I was never a gun guy in the previous life, but it looks like the guns henchmen have on the old Bond movies. My first feeling is excitement- this might be a chance to survive. Then dread. Will he kill me for it? A voice in my head tells me to pull the trigger, but that seed of hope he planted has begun to grow.
He didn't shoot me, and after a few minutes I could even breathe again. We continued looting the airfield and eventually I found a bloody backpack with a lot more storage than mine! He wasn't in the building with me so I took it. I can't allow myself to hope any longer. How much temptation could I ask him to withstand? I've known good men (and now that term is very relative) killed over envy of a can of beans. It's resolved, I will stomp out hope and put him down quickly. I'll make it painless for him.
Then he sees me, and rummages through my old backpack, I put my finger on the trigger- it's the perfect time.
I can't do it.
Curse him for what he's done- he had revived a small piece of something I once took for granted- humanity. He had moved on from the airfield a bit, and so I slowed down and let him go. He will live, God only knows how long- but me- how long can I survive like this? A conscience in this world? I should just put a bullet in my brain now, but I can't. How long can I live like this? I don't know. But every day I need some reason to get up and survive. Today I know my reason.
So as much as I love the idea of this game I loathe multiplayer shooters. But I just read somewhere you can play this single player. Is that true?
Obligatory "Why would you want to/you're doing it wrong."
It's entirely defeating the purpose unless you play with other people capable of real thought process or emotion (or, like greifers, complete lack of any).
Plus bot bandits/suvivors would probably just snipe you from forever away anyhow. Just like the real thing!

This mod right now comes across to me a bit like this saying if I recall it correctly: "If everyone is eye-for-an-eye, the world will before long be blind". It certainly would be some kind of accomplishment if you can become like the Batman, True Grit or some sort of wandering do gooder of this game trying to rebuild a civil society in the ruins.
I don't think that will happen until the game has better options for construction and making trade of some sort of crafted or skilled labour goods possible. Like a garden. Which probably won't happen till this thing is its own game but at least it is something to look forward to. At least in the mean time, there is always those vehicles for something to work with others towards rebuilding.

yeah we had this discussion last or the other night. He is adding in restoring part of the electrical grid,,, that might make player towns work.
And i am considering paying 25 bucks in dlc just to have better textures. (some guns and vehicles too....)

If and when Rocket gets a way to keep people from server hopping to getting around barriers, it would be incredibly kickass to be able to fortify a town on a server and make it so nobody gets in unless they're a part of the "fort". It would add enormously to the game if the gameplay focus could be shifted to digging up raw materials to keep a fort going.
Not to mention that it would be awesome to defend the place from bandit attacks. Watch out when you open that front gate to send some people out for supplies; never know if there's a bandit force in that treeline, waiting to pick off the scavengers and rush the gate while it's open.
Today is day four of this character’s life. I have almost everything – even a ghillie suit. The only thing I’m missing is a really nice rifle, but my M16 is serviceable for now.
I spent most of the day yesterday looking for players to kill. I spent about an hour and a half stalking Zelenogorsk, to no avail. I spent the first half hour on the north side, underneath a tree near a gas station, hoping that the bus I’ve seen might stop for a refueling. The bus never came. I spent another half hour stalking over to the other side of the town, then another half hour watching the store. I saw no one.
I finally encountered another player way down near Balota. It was night. With my ghillie suit, I’m nearly impossible to see even in daylight. At night, I’m invisible. And once again, I’m convinced that there’s something wrong with my M16. The survivor was right in my ironsights, not thirty yards away, but he kept moving even after five shots should have killed him. Another five shots made sure he was dead.
Do people have more health than zombies? I had a m16 and shot a player from about 200 meters. I shot about 10 bullets at him, I think about 3 or 4 missed. He escaped behind buildings and I fled because a mob of zombies was chasing me.

I think that's just alpha sketchiness. Different weapons are stronger than others, but there seems to be a fair amount of trouble with people taking for too many shots to kill some times and then dying to a single shot at other times.

Man, had me a nice run today. Game decided to spawn me in Electro, and through sheer luck I happened to run through the church, grocery store and fire station without seeing anyone. Then decided to follow the power lines to Cherno(Still haven't found an ingame map yet), ran through some of their apartment buildings. Came out of it with a Winchester with around 4 piles of slugs, 1911 with 4 mags, lots of food and bandages and chemsticks, compass, binoculars, watch, flashlight & hatchet. Might start heading north, I hear better weapons spawn up that way if I can avoid the rude bandits.

Deer stands spawn military weapons, but they're fairly spread out. On the upside, they tend to be in areas where few people tend to go. Almost always far fewer people inland as well, making most of the inland areas much safer to visit at the expense of having to travel some distance to get to them.

Are there any particular locations that have been known to spawn maps more frequently?
According to that sheet. The municipal office has 14 loot spots. I can only find 2 loot spots that is in the back i think. Can you enter that building?

I haven't played much because I simply don't have a couple hours at a stretch right now to spend looking for friendlies. But Rocket is supposedly dedicating some serious effort to a grouping system, so hopefully I'll be able to do more than wander solo before too long.
And with new stuff getting added pretty frequently and Rocket not really worried about how those additions balance the game, I think the mod could actually end up being radically more complicated in just a month or two.

You have to have the item in your gear (not your backpack) and just use the mouse wheel menu. It can be kind of finicky, though, so be ready to slowly circle the vehicle trying to find the sweet spot (especially for fuel).
I caught the last few minutes of your stream and it seemed like you don't know how backpacks work (saw you trying to make room in your inventory in the grocery store). It's incredibly unintuitive, but if you double click your backpack, it'll open a whole other inventory. I think the basic pack has 8 slots and the best one has 24. Also, do your best not to fire the Lee Enfield anywhere near civilization. It's better to run into the wilderness with a few zombies chasing you and kill them there rather than killing them in town and having 20 more swarm you.
