Damnit, what a tease. I was hoping for a 3DS Castlevania trailer. :(

I guess during the Nintendo press conference then? That was a cock tease. Rubbing the zipper and everything.

Yeah, it said June 5th so that would be my guess too.

You guys realise the rumours said it's a Lord of Shadows tie-in, right? No Iga.

    Uh, yeah. What's your point?

    It might suck?

True, but can't make a fair assessment without some kind of footage. And something a bit more than this

Good point. My only apprehension is them working on two games at the same time. Maybe their team is bigger than I'm thinking it is.

My understanding is that Mercurysteam isn't actually making the 3DS one; just Dave Cox and uh...another guy from the LoS team are on board with it directing it. It's probably a different team within Konami using Mercurysteam to manage it.

Tomb Raider release date trailer looks fantastic

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol_-QGlwRqc

Karl Stewart at Crystal Dynamics said this on twitter
aaaaaand don't forget to mention that we have a VERY big announcement off the back of the @tombraider trailer reveal :)

Really hope it's somethign about the Legacy of Kain series.

And the Dishonored trailer has some gameplay and lots of blood.

I loved Lords of Shadow. The trailer for the new one was insane. I guess you're playing (LoS spoilers)
as the main dude after he becomes Dracula? But before the modern time period as seen in the post-credits of the first game. Hmm.

Wow, I think I've never been as interested in a game pre-release as Tomb Raider.

The Game Designer might just be doing an amazing job, because playing some of the experiences alluded to in the trailer promises to be intense. They might be pulling a Bioshock in terms of video game storytelling (which is what I have been looking forward to for years).

The writing/voice acting, on the other hand, based on this trailer, was disappointing. Visuals and design presented an intense scenario, and the voice acting pulled me personally a bit out of it. But, whatever, it's only a trailer, and so far, Tomb Raider looks to be an immensely intriguing title. I also loved the pacing of it - actually rather reserved despite the intensity of what was happening, until it exploded at the end.

    ... I don't want to kill a deer.

(How haven't I heard of Dishonored before? Neo-Victorian Steampunk, are you kiddding me - how did my radar not pick this one up? Trailer was a bit dull, though.)

It feels like there's very little hype for the fall game lineup, very little that's surprising or particularly interesting...yet a ton of games that will probably be pretty good.

TBH, most of the fall line up games I was looking forward to are now 2013.

Off the top of my head, the only things left are Xcom and Borderlands 2. Plus whatever nintendo decides on for the fall.

EDIT: oh yeah, AC3. But I always get those on the after christmas sale where they're invariably half off

Dishonored, AC3, LoS 2 (if that's this year) all look really good. Not that excited for Revengenace only because of how stupid it looks. Though I bought Diablo 3 and there probably won't be a dumber game than that for years, so I'll probably rent it.

I feel like January-March is the new holiday season. And then there's always some stuff that comes out in May, like Max Payne 3 and Diablo 3 this year.

LoS 2 is coming out next year, from what I heard. I think Dishonored is going to become a cult classic, but I can't see it being super sucessful.

Everything seems to be coming out in 2013. God damn I wish Half-Life 3 were announced.

The Tomb Raider trailer gives me that feeling that it could be genuinely one of those "greatest video game experiences of all time" a la Uncharted 2, BioShock, etc.

I actually think the audio was great, myself

I've been following Tomb Raider since the Game Informer cover story, and if they can pull off what they say they can it will easily be a Game of the Year contender. Even if it can't deliver everything, it's still the kick in the ass the series desperatly needs.

I've been psyched about it since the original trailer and gameplay. While it looked a bit QTE and scripted on rails like a bit too much for my liking, the concept and idea behind the reboot I thought was fantastic. So long as the game opens up a bit and isn't so directly scripted feeling, with some classic puzzle solving I think it could be just plain fantastic.

I don't mind if Tomb Raider has a whole bunch of stupid scripted QTE nonsense as long as there's also plenty of solid actual gameplay along with it.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is such a goddamn good game that they've earned the benefit of the doubt from me, so I'm going to go ahead and get kind of excited about this.

I'm really not sure what to think of it. The Visual Works trailer and open world premise got me really hyped for it, but that trailer... The dialogue seems like it's aiming for Uncharted but completely lacking Amy Hennig's great writing, the voice acting doesn't seem too good and there's too much groaning/moaning. Maybe they're just showing the "cinematic" crap for the trailers and the actual game will be pretty open though.

Anyway, Hitman HD Collection? I'd be up for it, far more than Absolution.

I'm sure Tomb Raider's going to be a game worth playing, but I also fear it might turn out to be incredibly scripted. I mean, that's pretty much all we've seen so far. Moments where we'll mostly be looking rather than playing. That bit with the deer definitely piqued my curiosity, but then the trailer veered right back into... pretty much telling you the entire story. I wanna see what the game plays like when stuff isn't exploding around you or you're falling to your death or whatever.

Mh, depends. Kinda sounds like mid '90s game design, when games would open cinematically and present a story that might hook you, which would not be heard from again until the epilogue. But I'm assuming Tomb Raider is an amalgamation of scripted and free roaming - once a goal is accomplished, some scripted event will kick in. And obviously, the more abilities Lara acquires (which is one of the gameplay premises), the more freely can she roam, so that the beginning will most likely be more scripted.

    Guesswork, though.
I'm sure Tomb Raider's going to be a game worth playing, but I also fear it might turn out to be incredibly scripted.
Phew. What's the issue, though? That it is a scripted game at all, or that it is a scripted Tomb Raider game? Because I feel like there NEEDS to be a place in the triple A arena for story-centric games, while I would agree that Tomb Raider is more about exploration. Its story should be told through environments, art and player experience more than scripts - but that's specific to that franchise, in my opinion.

I think the people saying that the trailer is "giving away too much" or "telling the entire story" are kidding themselves, the same way people reacted when BioShock Infinite showed you that '80s bit

It is the pre-release trailer for a game that's nine months away, no way in hell are they even close to showing their hand yet. That trailer just got me super-intrigued for the story.

Tomb Raider does look pretty good actually, but that is the job of the trailer editor to make it look fun and engaging. Seems really scripted, but there is lots of potential for an amazing survival game here.

Metal Gear Rising still looks pretty meh, kind of losing interest as time goes on. Never played MGS4 anyway because of no PS3, but I've seen some gameplay and an Xbox port of that would be neat considering we have the MGSHD collection now.

I never beat LoS so that trailer was pretty much a giant spoiler, but... what the hell? WHO THE FUCK IS THAT?! ALUCARD IN MY LOS?! ...Sold. Just....Sold.

Someone mentioned an LOTR MOBA which could be really fun if done right with some original ideas instead of just copying DotA again. I'd never pass up a chance to replay as Legolas. ROTK was one of the best action rpgs, ever.

Also 2KGames should sue. Dishonored looks like they ripped the Bioshock engine and made a F.E.A.R. like story arc....Oh well, I'm sure it'll be fun.

Overall, I'm also glad I didn't stay up for this but I'm pleasantly surprised at some of the trailers.

P.S. Please god Zynga no. Just....no.
