Anyone else having problems with the action hijack heat reduction skill? says it reduces heat level when you're being chased by cops and you do an action hijack, but in practice it does nothing...
As silly as this sounds, I believe.... "believe" mind you... that all it actually does is make the circle radius around the cops smaller than normal (referring to the danger zone on your minimap). Then again I've only done it once and that's what it looks like. I don't normally get chased by the cops.
So anyone know how to make the dlc activate on steam? I bought the two little packs but I haven't received any bonus xp. Does it occur later or something?
Having a similar issue, I have the HD pack, I don't think it's installed or activated though...
Still in the first area, but there's something about the setting that makes me want to walk and take everything in, instead of just jacking the nearest car and driving away.
Setting it where they did was the smartest thing the devs could have done. Really sets the game apart.

Well! Couldn't resist. This is the first full price game I've bought on Steam in a long while.

Oooooo.... you know...
You would have gotten it for $36 at Greenman Gaming with promo code PCGMR-GREEN-SUMMR. (Steamworks title as well)
Uh... well, I guess this can be an FYI for anyone else who might still be on the fence. I did this yesterday so it should at least still work through today I'd imagine.

But the whole thread so far "fuck GMG this is the worst aaaa" so why would I get it from there!?
Wait, naw, no worries, the voucher is expired anyway, and the price on GMG is the same as Steam here.

So for the HD pack, it's not your typical DLC. Once you have it installed (it's like a 2GB download) go into your video options in Sleeping Dogs, go to advanced settings, and set HD Textures to "enabled."
It throws me off too because the texture pack doesn't show up in the DLC list on the game properties, nor does it show up in the DLC list from the game's main menu.
I've been staying away from this thread since release for fear of spoilers, but just wanted to pop in and say goddamn, this game is so much fun. Now back to shoving mooks into fish tanks.

Oh hey, you can holster pistols by tapping the down arrow; you don't have to drop it if you want to interact with shops.
Yeah and it appears pistols are the only weapon that lets you do this. It wasn't ever fully explained and someone else in the thread clued us in. Shame you can't holster a tire iron, or at least a knife.
But you know what? I ain't even mad. It sort of adds to the realism that you can't have a 4 to 8 weapon arsenal at all times. Makes you consider what you carry and when. Plus I absolutely love the melee combat in the game, and the pistol is just there to thin ranks until I can close the distance to break faces.

I AM FINALLY PLAYING THIS! It looks great on the spare 5570hd too. I am shocked. Not as good as it would've done on the GTX460 but its all I got at the moment. Stupid PSU failure!
I'm not bothered by no cantonese only track, because I'd hate to have to try and read text while I'm trying to dodge dudes shooting me. Plus its in Hong Kong, they speak english over there.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I finished the final story mission last night. I haven't had a game's story get its hooks into me like that in a long time. I couldn't get through the last 3 or so missions fast enough, I wanted to find out what happened so bad. The way they handled the last couple missions was masterful. They took the game mechanics that were routine by this point and switched them up just enough for combat to feel like you are doing something new.
I just wish there was more of this game. I still have races to do and mans to beat up, but I don't see that lasting terribly long. Here's hoping for some quick dlc.
Also some spoilered girlfriend stuff:
Was anyone else disappointed that most of the female characters were there for one-off missions? They were pretty well developed and interesting, I was expecting them to have more screen time.

Srsly.
I had my nuptials written and everything for Not Ping. At least what small romance-esque scenes existed were done very well, and actually felt like real conversations.

Yup
the stuff with Amanda felt very natural and genuine, good chemistry
Was seriously thinking she was going to factor heavily into the story, like Kate in GTA4, but noooooope. World's most pointless Emma Stone cameo
I'm really at a loss as to why she was hurt you banged someone else, and why you cared she was banging someone else? I mean when you meet her she's like a karoake prostitute and you're a fucking gangster!

For some reason, I can't play this on anything past Medium graphics. I bump up to High, then everything breaks - the world just won't load and my characters go spiralling into blue hell. At least it looks pretty on Medium, but I'm still pretty bummed. I have a good PC, should have no problem with the highest graphics settings.
Also! I'm not so far in, just stole the watches, but... how do you replay missions? I see "replay unlocked" at the end, but I'm not seeing the option anywhere?
Oh brilliant

Are you using the most recent version of your graphics drivers? I had an issue where shit was straight up invisible till I upgraded.
I also like how you can use how fucked up a dude looks to pick out the guy about to get dropped. Well when you don't have skills like leg breaker and the knee stun that is.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
You can find them by exploring (some are in lock boxes) you can get them from completing certain activities (like the fight clubs around the city) you also get outfits just from story missions and side missions.

Iono mans, I had the key on my order summary literally the moment it was billed. I had no problems with it last night.

Game: So good
I don't even have a sister and I still feel like I want to lay that guy out on the pavement.
It was awesome to get the Ong Bak outfit as a reward.

You and me, both. The good news is, I'm fairly certain we'll eventually have a chance to kill him... and subsequently everyone else in Hong Kong.
I know everyones looking forward to the Game of Death jumpsuit, but the Fist Of Legend pants are RIGHT THERE.
Also, Mr Black suit lets me feel like Johnny in A Better Tomorrow 2.

Well Mr. Black looks like any number of HKBO dudes in a suit with glasses, but yeah its a neat outfit.

Well what does it mean in Cantonese? :P
Anyway, there is a large amount of incidental Cantonese dialogue, which is nice, but I am still disappointed there is no full Cantonese voice track.
