I would rather have 5 mirror images than a teleport because everything is going to close that gap instantly anyway
I'm finding that it's best to combine the two. Mirror Image and then peace out with Teleport. Basically the Diablo 3 equivalent of popping countermeasures and doing an emergency blow.
Teleporting in battle means a lot more when you have mega-blizzard. I might give Wormhole a shot but it seems more of a "leave your allies to die" skill.
I like the flexibility of Teleport Fracture. Some distraction, some repositioning.
Profile -> Signature Settings -> Hide signatures always. Then you don't have to read this worthless text anymore.
When does WD get fun? I'm level 9 and completely bored with the starting skill set. I feel so weak compared to my Monk and Wizard, who I had no problem at all leveling. WD just feels so mundane.
Maybe by level 13? You already can run in and soul harvest and spam bats, and you'll have the option of a survivability or mana passive then. The majority of my time after level 10 or so was me being right in the thick of it with groups of mobs, aoeing the shit out of them, and without going to the AH for a lot of gear upgrades to boot.
Explosive toads at 17 would make this even easier, being much less mana intensive.
I would rather have 5 mirror images than a teleport because everything is going to close that gap instantly anyway
Not when you're dead and have a small window before you're resurrected to get the hell away from the invulnerable pack while your follower is busy distracting them. Right click Wormhole at the furthest of the screen, stuck between Teleports because an obstacle is stopping you in your tracks, pack notices you and comes at lightning speed to shit in your face again.
the choice is between mirror image and fracture
I'm trying to cheese the Cave of the Betrayer, because it's fucking impossible to properly kite around here. Fucking caves and spiders, man.
I was under the assumption from the Enchantress dialog during Act IV, that the Prophet was the Itherael, Angel of Fate. Who better to set up a team of Mages in the past for an event to come in the future than the Angel who CAN SEE THE FUTURE. Plus he WAS one of the ones who sided for the humans out of the council.
Seemed kind of obvious to me, but who knows.
The whole prophet thing is weird because I think only members on the Council can actually see the future, and only Itherael can see far into the future. Yet the enchantress says it was some random dying angel that set her and her sisters up centuries ago for it? It doesn't add up and Blizzard will end up retconning stuff later anyways.
She says that she doesn't know if the dying angel was the prophet himself or merely carrying the message for the prophet.
Still, the whole thing is weird. They'll either retcon it or flat out ignore it until someone calls them on it at a future Blizzcon.
My first legendary was a monk hat. i was playing a monk! i said with glee and clicked the item to identify it.
It was....a level 9 item and i was in my mid 20's at the time. well crap. Maybe i can make some gold i said.
I go to the auction house and look it up to see what kind of prices its getting. respectable numbers going from 50k to 5 million or so. So i say im not going to be greedy lets try to get 30k buyout. setup the auction, push the button...my attempt to post it times out. i look, see it got dropped back into my characters inventory so i quit my game will try again later.
Log in...my legendary is gone. its not on the auctions tab. not in characters inventory or stash.
Basically my first experience with a legendary was not a good one.

Hmm, AH seems bit more responsive than usual for once.

Gotta love when writers have no idea what is happening within their universe. Then again, they have outsourced a lot to different writers over the years.
Finally got a chance to test those runs I was thinking of earlier. Manglemaw and the Chancellor are no good, but Headcleaver will clear and reset as long as at least one skeleton is alive when Headcleaver bites it. I'm thinking of rolling with Ray of Frost/Numb, Wave of Force/Impactful Wave and Mirror Image with the 5x clone rune. Now to find some cheap MF and Int gear.

I haven't bothered to buy or sell on the AH yet, not for any particular reason, it just seems unintuitive compared to the WoW AH, which is laughable. I haven't had the desire to figure it out yet, which i imagine isn't too hard. Guess it's better not to try for now as my monk is still well equipped and I'm in no rush to watch the AH servers crash on me too.
Well Ithereal was the one who translated the documents that the Enchantress was given by the dying angel. and he said that the Prophet was an "Angel who saw promise in humanity" or something like that.
Just based on how far back the Enchantress is supposed to be from, it seems like Ithereal is the only one that would have the knowledge of that far in the future to set up something like the Prophet did.
When does WD get fun? I'm level 9 and completely bored with the starting skill set. I feel so weak compared to my Monk and Wizard, who I had no problem at all leveling. WD just feels so mundane.
When frogs rain from the sky, and zombie bears burst from the earth.
Supposedly Ithereal cannot see the fates of humans, which would have made it very hard for him to be the Prophet. Especially since the Prophet talked to the Enchantress specifically about the player-character, centuries before he/she was ever born.
But then that implies that there is an angel who is not the Angel of Fate that can see the fates of humans, which doesn't make much sense.

I thought he could see the fate of average humans, but not of Nephilim or specifically the player character.

Usually I am in the first line of defense in the battle of maintaining a good story in a video game, and I am not at all invested in the WarCraft story, because I cannot stand its MMO, so I don't know the severity of what the dude in the video is pointing out, HOWEVER, WoW has a huge, sprawling story, it necessitates delegation in terms of writing and almost any epic of any qualitative caliber might contain plot holes.
I think almost by definition, if you pull a popular franchise in an MMO, you'll dilute its story, and at some point, it just stops carrying any weight. I mean, if they need to keep coming up with higher stakes content, what is left after the lord of all things undead, and then a dragon? Pandas, obviously. The Pandaren have the same significance to the lore at this point as anything else.
The issue is more with Metzen, who seems to be a miniscule George Lucas of the video gaming industry - he established his successful franchise(s), and lives off of their reputation, while working not particularly hard to tear them down.
But if you were talking about the holy steaming pile of socks that is Diablo III, nevermind.
@RandomEngy - Honestly, I think a healthy 90% don't care. Sorry, don't mean to be your kryptonite, or whatever. But even reviews don't note how particularly horrible everything relating to narrative is, because they're too busy having fun. Regardless, I'm a single player, story kind of guy, so I do have the dubious ability of being affected by its lack of quality.
So, its bullshit that the Witch Doctor's basic attack spells scale up in cost when nobody else's does and his mana pool/regen doesn't scale up at all. Why the hell am I going OOM trying to kite stuff while the DH/WZ can run around spamming anything they want in their basic four and *generate* resources!?
Switching to my WZ is literal night and day resource-wise, and don't get me started on pet scaling >:-|
iirc correctly your mana pool and regen do scale up, just not at the same rate as the cost of some of your moves.
If you are having issues with mana start slotting in more mana efficient moves and runes and start looking for mana regen gear.
I have every possible mana efficiency rune slotted, passive and active. I've tried basically everything at this point and I'm just fed up with the entire mechanic.
I mean, there is no way you are running into mana issues if you are running Vision Quest, unless you are also specifically using the WD's super mana intensive attacks.
That said its a pretty crap mechanic, but the WD is pretty much just a walking pile of crappy, buggy, nonsensical mechanics anyway.
So if the answer to the question "how is the WD supposed to maintain resources in Hell/Inferno?" is "use this specific build, its the only one viable" then all I have is a giant middle finger for those silly geese at Blizzard. I refuse to run a specialized build just to have any chance at all playing a class.
When does WD get fun? I'm level 9 and completely bored with the starting skill set. I feel so weak compared to my Monk and Wizard, who I had no problem at all leveling. WD just feels so mundane.
When frogs rain from the sky, and zombie bears burst from the earth.
I guess that's fun. Its getting old though, I'd rather take the good, boring spells at this point. The novelty of "hey look, bats/frogs/toads!" has started to wear thin while I watch the other classes rape shit en masse while my mana regenerates.
Found my first set item in Act I Inferno! yay! Blackthorne's undies or some shit. I also farmed/AH'd up 900,000 gold tonight. Soon I shall be able to buy my first big boy item.
Also: I'm playing the final difficulty and I'm still not sure wtf is going on in the story. Something about dime weasels, meteorological anomalies and a housing shortage in Arreat. Go figure.

Ghom solo'd! I even dual-wielded, for those of you monks who hate shields for some crazy reason :P
42k hp, 31% dodge, 830 resist with MoH (73.44% DR), 4805 armour with Enchantress (61.56% DR) and most importantly... 829 life on hit. I bought a relatively cheap weapon with 600 dps and 600 life on hit for 650k, put a radiant square in my 889 dps mainhand. Basically kited him around with Deadly Reach runed for Keen Eye (+50% armour) with Earth Ally tanking intermittently (he died often, but I had plenty of spirit to keep bringing him back).
Now I can move on to Azmodan without feeling like a goddamn scrub (took Siegebreaker out ages ago).
Grats! Welcome to the Dual Weapon Club! I'll admit I haven't tried Eath Ally yet (The one Time I did was just trying random stuff against The Butcher and he died way to often for me)
I have been holding out for a 750+ 1 hand Weapon with solid Life on Hit. Although if i find A good deal I may drop down to around 600 or so (600 lif eon hit on your weapon is CRAAAAAZY good)
Delph I have a couple of weapons in the 800 DPS range. Message me in game and you can check and see if you want any of them.

God damn, one thing they REALLY need to fix with the AH filters is how it how it processes modifiers in tandem with sockets. If I ask for X modifier at Y level and a socket, I DON'T want "X modifier at Y level BECAUSE of said socket".

I would normally feel bad. But I'm 99% sure Blizz will use one of his restores to get his stuff rolled back, and that he'll wisen up and get an authenticator...and MAYBE not copy paste passwords on a livestream.
So because of that i'll chuckle at the 1337 gold and hamburger and not feel too bad.

For those who were disappointed with D3's story (something on which I cannot comment, seeing as I've yet to clear Act 2 Normal), you should definitely check out the short stories on Blizzard's website.
I have only read the Wizard so far, and am starting on Witch Doctor, but from what I've seen, they make pretty good use of Diablo lore and scratch the storytelling itch that I really hoped the main game would.

So what is the hidden difference between Ball Lightning and Nether Tentacles runes for Elemental Arrow? The damage listed is exactly the same and they seem to have similar ranges, radius, and speed, except tentacles has life steal. So what am I missing?

Because eventually that will happen and shit all over your day.

lightning hits twice for less whereas hentai hits once.
thing is, for mobs that are "big enough", hentai will start hitting more than once, increasing dps/hatred tremendously and will pull ahead of lightning.
