I think anyone concerned about the hacking of accounts, or security of the game in general should read this. It's pretty informative and should help explain some things.

Plus the authenticators say "made in china", which is the exact place where all the security intrusions, virtual currency theft/selling/trading ect originate from. Overwhelming amount of integrity issues over there, and yet the vasco data security company manufactures out of china because of out sourcing to cheaper labor costs/parts I'm assuming.

One thing that annoys me about this game is that it's easier to solo inferno rather than join up with other people. At least I felt that way anytime I grouped with people.
Beat Magdha on Inferno before the servers crashed again. Had to run from an invulnerable minions mob, but other than that I was able to take things down with the classic "die a couple times and hope their life totals haven't reset to 100%". My drops in Act 2 even with five NV stacks haven't been noticeably better than in Act 1. But I did get a magic source that had 80 Int, +50-280 damage. Is that something? You can't search for damage on the auction house, so as a non-Wizard I have no idea.
While crawling through Act 2 is fun and challenging, it does feel like my time is more efficiently spent facetanking Act 1 Warden/Butcher runs.

I really wish this didn't happen. I'm fine with them healing up while you're dead and/or they're not taking damage for a while, but every so often the mob will be healing and suddenly their health will snap back to 100%, which is aggravating.
So I hit Act 2 NM and predictably got butt blasted by the usual shit in a MP game. Did some science rather than get frustrated though and it turns out that Slow Time is the Act 2 I WIN button. I've been slicing my way right through it with 0 problems ever since I switched to this: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#WcXROg!abX!a.abaZ
My guy is level 39 right now.
I've got my Stam and Int both in the 400s (Vitality is in the low 400s, Int is in the high 400s). Seems that the winning strategy is to keep your nuke stat and your vitality pretty even.
I'm not entirely sold on the Venom Hydra though. I might switch back to Arcane for more AoE with Lightning being my anti-boss death ray.
Time to go die a bunch in Inferno. My gear is NOWHERE up to par, but I'm a DH, so I figure I can get by for a while by dropping smokescreen constantly and running away screaming.
I've given up on my Barb for now. Tired of getting 2 shot by junk white mobs in act 2 of Inferno. Maybe it won't be so ridiculous with 1.0.3 when they even out the "spikiness" of the damage, but I think the simple fact is that I need to upgrade all of my gear again, and I'm not in much of a mood to farm the last stretch of dungeons in act 1 to farm up the millions of gold I'd need to do so. I'm hoping that prices will come down to somewhat realistic levels by the time I get my DH, and maybe a third class, up to 60.
So I've been unable to get past authentication for about an hour or so now, I finally get in and have no heroes.
In 30 mins a 2hr maintenance starts.
God damnit.

Arcane Hydra is better for moving packs. Venom Hydra is great for stationary/slow targets, since all of the venom pools stack. The Act II and III bosses in particular melt pretty quickly with just Venom Hydra. Lightning is just poor compared to Venom on bosses, but it does hit against fast targets better than either Arcane or Venom.
I used Frost Nova rather than Slow Time (FN has a faster cooldown), but the principle is the same. Slow down a pack, then nuke the pack.
On another note - I know the commodity AH is down, but does anyone here know off-hand if it's better to vendor your Nightmare drops or Salvage 'em? In terms of recovering the most money, that is.
what ways can DHs increase discipline regeneration? Is there any gear with passive discipline regen, or do I just have to use preparation if I want more vaults/smokescreens?
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

Ah, I didn't know the pools stacked. Well then, that changes things.
Nice thing about ST over FN is that 20% damage bonus and it lasts a hell of a lot longer. It's also basically 20% less damage due to the attack rate slow down but the real winner is that it stops projectiles almost dead in their tracks. Bees? No worries. Fire bombs from the cat fuckers? Lolz. Act 2 is basically bullet hell and Slow Time kicks that shit to the curb.
So I ran across an interesting glitch today. I became immortal and invisible. It definitely had something to do with the "always on" connection because the only way I could kill myself was by throttling down my upload and timing me out with the connection.
For some reason playing a wizard almost at max level (52) in hell mode, I've lost complete interest in softcore.
I started playing my monk in hardcore and I'm having 10x the fun because I believe it's the only thing worth playing in the game, I can't seem to find fun in softcore because there is no risk. Maybe I just like the adrenalin rushes you get when your character rarely escapes death by a slim margin.

Yeah, I about had a heart attack when I was nearly one-shotted by the boss on my first Hardcore run through Act II with a Demon Hunter. I'm SO glad I swapped to Vitality gear just before that fight. I missed my Smokescreen button and hit Caltrops instead. I ended up beating the boss without further incident, but had I not switched to Vitality gear, I definitely would have been rerolling at that point.

Eons ago when the commodity AH last worked, Nightmare mats were cheap as shit and it was almost universally better to just vendor items unless you had some absolutely terrible nightmare blue ring or something that only vendored for 40 gold or so. Of course who knows what the market will be like in 2 years when the AH finally works properly again?
Either way I'd say you're safe just vendoring trash items, because I don't think the salvage mat costs will be so high that you'll have regretted doing so, and in the meantime, more gold! Plus, you'd just end up crafting garbage with those mats anyway!
So, question about the mechanics of magic find... Mainly just a clarification.
Magic find only increases the amount of magic, rare, and legendary items dropped... but does not increase the odds that the item would be a better one (i.e. higher stats), correct?
Wow, I'm caught up on this thread for the first time in days!
Tonight, more farming for Staff of Herding items. I got the plans on my first farming run at Izual. Got the shinbone after about 15 tries. Had the mushroom already. Have the 100k for the vendor item. No sign yet of the rainbow or gemstone.

they should prolly disable that for inferno. I think thats why I want to flip my desk over so often. I can kick the shit out of Act 2 solo. My friends join? almost a constant 30 second res timer.
..... I don't want to play with my friends anymore....

In Normal, no. In Nightmare and up, yes, with the amount increasing per difficulty and per number of players. Inferno monsters in 4 player games do 45% more damage. Kind of ridiculous, but I suppose they were trying to account for class synergy. It's probably higher than it needs to be, though.

Okay, no wonder why I get my ass kicked constantly. So yea, they should rethink that idea.

I wouldn't trust my mother to hold my hamburger.
You'd see that in the AH faster than a single-player LV 60 HC character dies to lag.
(two LV 60 HC friends died to lag yesterday and one to Belial.. twas a dark day...)

As far as I know the Commodities section is still down on the AH, which includes gems and dyes.
