I can't imagine that the Persona 2: EP port cost all that much to make so 30k sales is probably plenty to cover their costs.
Ouch to Samurai & Dragons.
EP numbers don't seem bad until you look at what P1P and IS did.
Persona 1 PSP 1st week sales - 95k
Persona 2: IS PSP 1st week sales - 62k
So, yes, 24k-25k sales in the 1st week is a huge drop but I still stand by what I say - this is a port of an old game with a couple minor improvements here and there. It can't have cost them that much to make.
Doom 3 is an incredible game that hasn't aged well. Not because of the gameplay (which I enjoy) and not because of the visuals, which are still quite good. It's because it doesn't have widescreen support and barely runs on newer machines. Dunno why, it's just a bitch to replay.
Announcing a rerelease with a lick of paint, and Dooms 1 and 2, well I'm sold.
Seriously, Doom 3 had some flaws (monster closets) but the atmosphere was incredible. And the soundtrack. And the little gameplay innovations that are essentially industry standards now, like the interactive in-game monitors and the PDA thing.
Man, Doom 3 was so good.
Yeah, this rerelease is a good idea just to make it easier. That said, if you already own Doom 3 it is possible to mod the crap out of it and get it looking/playing great. Visual-wise, it does not look that old at all.
If I didn't already own all the Doom games I'd definitely consider getting this. Wonder if Doom 1/2 are going to come with all of the mission packs...
The only problem is that a chest-mounted light is going to absolutely murder the ambiance, let alone make some of the levels completely trivial (like the imp rails)

I imagine that the flashlight will still have the worst batteries in existance, ambiance probably wont be affected all that much. I'm liking the fact that I'll be able to use the light and shoot at the fatass zombies, instead of thunking them in the face with the butt of the light.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
Re-release of Doom is pretty cool. I hope Doom 1 and 2 have the mission packs and have been touched up a bit. Older id games do not run well on newer systems, if they run at all.
I think it's just time to let FF14 die and admit failure there. They're essentially just doing yard work outside a burning building, what's the point?
Price drop on the Vita is nice, shame it still has over priced memory sticks and no games. I want it to fail if only so that Sony can hopefully learn a lesson from it.
It's not really a "service" it's a one-time fee to get all the DLC. Basically a Season Pass. It might just be me, but "service" implies something like the Call of Duty Elite.
EDIT: Though it does get you into exclusive members only double XP weekends, I guess that makes it a service. Oh wait, I didn't see the whole image, it nets you a load of stuff like priority access to servers and whatnot. I suppose I should read the whole article before commenting.
It was an ok game, but by Ratchet & Clank standards, it was pretty bad. It just wasn't as fun, the weapons weren't as good, the story was ok-ish, and the camera they designed to keep up with four player mode was irritating.
The humor was still there, just not as witty as previous games.
So yea, as a HUGE Ratchet fan, I was pretty let down. I can't wait for the FFA, and hope it leads to another full fledged retail Ratchet game.
On a serious note, what was the complaint again? Dyack was saying that the reason Too Human took so long to develop and wasn't critically acclaimed was because Epic and the Unreal Engine were deliberately too hard to work with or something, right?

While the focus of CD Projekt Red's summer conference was its new Cyberpunk RPG, the company still doled out a few tidbits about its best-known title, The Witcher 2. Specifically, the game has moved 1.7 million copies across the PC and Xbox 360 platforms.

Doo-wait, never mind.
CD Projekt even released an extremely cheesy "thank you" video.

Basically. I think there was also a bit about them hiding functionality of the engine specifically for Epic's use or something. I also heard (maybe in this thread?) that Silicon Knights forgot to actually ask for a damages amount so even if they would have won the most they could have received was $1 :P

They asked for $texas but failed to provide a breakdown of the damages. The judge then told them they were only entitled to one dollar.
According to court documents obtained by Polygon, even if Silicon Knights wins the judge ruled that the studio would only be entitled to $1 in damages. He may have based his decision on the fact that Silicon Knights reportedly failed to supply a breakdown of the damages it was seeking.
Hm, wonder what this means for the future of Silicon Knights. Let's hope Dyack didn't pin the financial future of the studio on winning the suit. Then again, the fact that they took contract work for Activision for the X-Men game (and botched it horribly) suggests they aren't doing great.
Though weren't there vague hints that they were doing Eternal Darkness 2 a while back?
Almost certainly. This is less franchise fatigue or old Persona fatigue and more console fatigue; the PSP is finally out of gas in Japan.
I think there is some port fatigue in there too. The last new Persona game came out almost 4 years ago - there's gotta be some people who have given up on the constant ports and so the sales reflect that. I think when they finally get around to making Persona 5, it will sell just fine.
It is pretty neat though that you'll be able to have enhanced version of all 5 Persona games on the Vita though (Vita port of 4 and PSP ports of everything else).
"Our game wasn't so good because the most widely used game engine was just too difficult for use to work with. And its all Epic's fault!"
I did enjoy Too Human, though. I would've liked to see some more Too Human games, but come on, man...
To be fair, UE3 had to be heavily modified by a lot of developers after it turned out to be not so great.

At this point I almost think I'd rather see another studio do Eternal Darkness 2. Like 90% of the appeal of that game was the story and cool freak-out stuff anyways. Maybe SK can sell off the license :P

Nintendo owns the license I believe.

This is going to be a thing in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
I don't know if someone should make a thread for it or what.

Sony would be smart to make this a Vita game. But that's probably asking too much.

Starting now.
I've heard from Ratchet fans that the single player was pretty meh, and very few people actually played multiplayer.
That's the actual name of the universe. It predates Shadowrun by about a year, and there's quite a bit of tension between the two franchises.
Is Battle 3 having a "Premium" service for 50 bucks new? I think pretty much every big shooter and many other games like Saints Row 3 are doing this. I assume it is raking in the cash considering it seems to be becoming more common.
EDIT: Though it does get you into exclusive members only double XP weekends, I guess that makes it a service. Oh wait, I didn't see the whole image, it nets you a load of stuff like priority access to servers and whatnot. I suppose I should read the whole article before commenting.
SR3 doesn't have a premium service. There was a $20(?) season pass, but there's nothing like CoD ELite or BF3 premium.
Unless its a new thing, as I have not played SR3 since the last story DLC dropped.

From the Twitter comments, this sounds like it is in regards to Silicon Knights?

Silicon Knights was never mighty despite from Denis Dyack would have you believe.

I am partly responsible for the success of Elite. I bought a year sub, I mean it wasn't my money but I still bought into it.
Its pretty worthless, and segregates the CoD MP community. That's when the service actually works, of course.
