Some friend asked me for snes coop games, and well, I couldn't answer him.
I think I told him about Contra and mario kart, but there must be 1000 of more coop games.... right???

Battletoads in Battlemaniacs: Hard as hell but it will keep you coming back for more.
Super Double Dragon: Kinda mind-numbing, but check a faq for the moves you can do for added fun. Also, protip: The game is hard as hell until you learn the cheat that gives you seven extra continues: Both players press and hold start at the same time when they are both dead and there is only one continue left.
Lost Vikings, IIRC, has a coop mode. It's sort of a cross between action/platforming and a puzzle game. Three vikings, each have skills necessary to progress, and you switch back and forth between them as you play.
Edit: Also, the game in the OP's avatar technically has co-op play.
Edit 2: Super Contra! (Contra 3?....oh, you said that already.)

I have it, and I think it's really a pretty weak game. Knights of the Round is much better.
Don't forget about Battletoads/Double Dragon, too.
Really? I had so much fun playing this with my brothers. I loved the fact that your weapons would upgrade and become cooler/more powerful as you played. I remember playing Knights of the round too but for some reason I played much more of King of Dragons. I loved the Fantasy setting with big monsters and dragons.

The "leveling" system in King of Dragons is indeed cool, but the actual gameplay itself is weak by comparison. It's very slow, hit boxes are weird, and levels are way too short. It also recycles boss sprites like crazy, which is annoying.

All the titles mentioned so far are good; Firepower 2000 is often forgotten, but it's a pretty decent shooter where one player flies around in an attack heli while the other is in a combat ATV/tank hybrid.

There was a game for the NES that was very similar, although a side-scroller. One player had a tank, the other had a helicopter, and the bosses were huge. I used to own it, but I haven't been able to think of the name for ages.
I always forget to post it in those "find me this game" threads.

One player controls the legs of the Madcat while the other controls the torso and arms. Note, I do not actually recommend playing Mechwarrior 3050 as it is decidedly unfun.

Haha... I remeber this, I actually did play it coop for a bit with one of my friends. SoM had AWESOME coop though, and I think it could even support 3 players if you had the multitap.

I honestly can't remember if Seiken Densetsu 3 had co-op or not. If it did, it's probably worth the import since you don't need a Super Famicom to play it.

I'm pretty much convinced that TMNT IV: Turtles in Time is the beat beat em up ever. Awesome fun with a buddy.
Pocky and Rocky is great too, though a little obscure. Overhead shooting with a very Japanese presentation. I've heard the sequel is better but ive never played it.
Also: SUNSET RIDERS. Such an awesome game but I never see it reccomended here.

So was Power Rangers The Movie.
Both kept me entertained for days on end.

edit: ...and doing some googling reveals Firepower 2000 to be Super SWIV (or Mega SWIV for the Sega version.)
Awesome, thank you so much. Been looking for that forever.

Also, I shall futher confirm Kirby's Superstar is a must.
..and I can't believe we're on page 2 without mention of one of my favorite games of all time (hard too!): Legend of the Mystical Ninja.
I totally forgot about that.
Are there any other Goemon games that made it out of the Orient?

I would lime both of those, but some things are just so awesome they are beyond the visible spectrum of awesomeness.
