A geography field trip to Scotland involves a 10hour coach trip. Any ideas of what I could do in that time? Or alternatively, fun ways to annoy my friends.
I've also got an upcoming trip from Boston to LA with my girlfriend. I was thinking of picking up the second season of Lost and watching it on my laptop.

I did a 14 hour train ride from DC to Florida. I would recommend you sleep, enjoy the views, get along well with the person sitting next to you, and remain calm. Going down to Florida I was ok, but coming back I wanted to kill everyone on the train.

I would suggest you keep the driver entertained or you may find yourself single, alone, and lost in Utah.

Bring two pillows and a blanket:
The first pillow is for your head, the second is for your ribs/back along the wall (unless you can sleep sitting up, the wall is your best bet as a support--and that sucker hurts if you try sleeping against it without supporting your abdomen). Every bus/coach I've ever been on keeps it ungodly cold which is usually fine at first, but eventually can actually keep you from sleeping soundly--this is where the blanket comes in.
Bring a good book and a magazine--the book will eventually become a little dense and boring, so the magazine will help you switch it up a bit with some light and airy reading for a bit so that you can go back to reading your book.
I advise against bringing any electronics beyond an MP3 player; it will just become an expensive hassle when you arrive.
Theoretically, I would expect you to sleep about 5 hours of it if you're average, with about 3 to 4 hours of reading, and 1 hour (spaced across the trip) of boredom.
If your mates play cards, though, bring those along and you'll be fine. Learn a few different games via the internet (or better yet, print out the rules), preferably ones with a lot of interactivity.

Um, I've taken a greyhound several times and there weren't any plugs you could plug a laptop into so unless you have quite the battery, you won't get very far into LOST, imo.
DrHookenstein really has it, especially the blanket/pillows thing. I can verify that temperatures can be quite cold.
Nows a good time to pick up that lengthy novel you've always wanted to read...
Taco Bell does win the franchise war according to the tome of knowledge that is Demolition Man. However, I've watched Demolition Man more then a few times and never once did I see WoW. In conclusion Taco Bell has more lasting power then WoW.

Plane. But it's still a long ride.
If I was driving? All I need is copious amounts of weed, snacks, and a pillow and I'm set.

Start working on your patience now.

I had a 15 hour nonstop airplane flight from California to Sydney, Australia. That thing and my ipod saved me, big time.
