In NG+, just did the Griffin quest last night. As a MKnight, dropped Ruinous Sigil right where it was going to land....and it died very shortly after it landed. Poor Griffin. Didn't know you could completely skip Bluemoon, which makes me kinda sad. I like that whole event.
I would advise against doing any escort quests postgame
...But that's when they get Fun again!
Agreed! Although I do wish the escorts actually SAID something when they were being attacked. Turning around to find hellhounds gnawing on your charge's face is rather frown inducing.
P.S.: Foefaller - did you see the face settings I posted earlier? Just wanted to make sure!
Any escort-quest so far could be completed by sprinting to the destination. Roads have been convenient, but not necessary. Mainly, roads keep me from running into impassable mountains. But I prefer to already have the map.
Edit: Yay, 9336 RC from someone called atz731. Presumably not PA. I can afford Secret of Metamorphosis now! Better hold onto this.
Good knowledge, too. "Enemy Person"? Well, that's vague.
I'm a dummy. I slept a few nights in Cassardis, and missed Fournival's trial. I didn't realize that it was actually timed. Live and learn, I guess. poor bastard, I guess that means very few ferry stones for me until NG+.

I prefer the "pick em up and go" escort tactic. As soon as one (or all) of the pawns start chatter about wolves or goblins, I just grab my charge and run like a scared rabbit.

Those are literally just civilians/knights if I remember correctly.

I keep hearing of this Fournival fellow and his trial. Is that post Wyrm Hunt stuff? I'm level 44 I think and I haven't met the Duke yet. I've been doing every single side quest I can find (though I missed out on Mercedes escort I guess due to timing? I dunno). I killed the Drake again last night. Is that thing really resistant to Lightning damage? It seems like my physical attacks to its heart are laughable to it. Hell, even when it's down to that final hit, it took THREE hits to do for my Arisen. Oh well, I managed to get Caladbolg dragonforged. I was wondering if dragonforging a gold weapon was worth it. I may find out tonight. Anyways, I believe the only quests I have left right now are to kill 25 crows, 5 undead mages and an odd number of oxen, like 29? I feel so bad killing those things. Seriously, it saddens me to do it.
Also, why don't pawns EVER heal themselves? They have curative items, but during the fight against the Drake, not one of them was used. Also, is there an inclination that will get my pawn to cast an elemental boon on me more often? I think I got Ice Affinity cast like maybe 5 times during the Drake fight. Obviously ice is needed, and my pawn knows this.
And now that I think about it, is there an easy way to freeze the Drake's mouth shut? I tried using bottles of water and then spamming its face with Five Shot when I had Ice Affinity and it looked like it was ABOUT to freeze, but didn't.
Oh wait, is Fournival the guy who wants you to evict people for him? I reloaded to avoid that because it seemed mean. Should I take that quest if it's still available?

Yes. There are methods of completing that quest that do not involve actually evicting anyone
OK, I had spoken with him then talked to the family members and was like "wait a sec, I'm gonna skip this one." Guess I was one conversation away from having other options become available. Oh well!
Yep, Fournival is just looking to sell it, so he doesn't actually care if they stay or not.
Post-Dragon question:
I found the family camped out in the refugee area in the field, and the wife says something like, "Wow, if we still had our house we'd all be dead now." Do they really die if you buy their house from Fournival? I just kicked 'em out when I did the quest.

I cannot fucking scratch this drake. My mage and sorc are fucking useless because they never stand still long enough to cast a single spell and my attacks do fuck all even on the rare occassion I can stand there and wail on it's heart.
e: so on this attempt she actually casts a spell and what do you know, he's lost 2 hp bars already.

Thought I'd pick up a few lower level PA pawns for the fun of it, little did I know that the next fight was against the Cockatrice that not only got away, but also petrified said lower level dudes, and I didn't have any Panacea along, since I've never needed it before.
Changed my pawn back to Sorcerer again, mage spells are pretty dull after seeing the high end sorcerer spells.
Now if only randoms knew how to make a good mage... I saw one with no augments, level 64, what the fuck?

THAT blows. I know how you feel, though. You can actually run away from the Drake to save your game. Its health doesn't refill. So when you get close to killing it, do that. You can Retry of you die, or if you want to cheese the dragonforged items you receive. I feel worse about killin oxen than I do about manipulatin the game that way.
I am L49 sorc with only about five Mage levels. Am I being foolish not switching vocations like every other bugger seems to, or is there any reward in staying faithful to one vocation?
I just love the High Maelstrom too much to switch, I think...
My Pawn is Duster the warrior - feel free to hit him up!
Stat growths are different for each vocation. Staying as a sorc ensures you will have the highest possible magick attack power.
e: I fucking did it, and I think it took me about 3 hours. Pawns were almost completely useless. Sorc finally cast high glicel a second time to get the kill. If I could control my pawn directly I would have killed the thing in 3 minutes.
What did I get? 1 dragonforged chainmail skirt. FML.

And Magick Defense. Low Stamina and Health, though, and those are less gear-based. Not that it matters when your levels are high enough. Enjoy your meteorology.
Edit: I'm still carrying those Fisherman's Tatters. Don't think I won't equip them to kill that Drake. That's the main point of this game. Must be done.
I love the Maelstrom. Managed to take the drake out by using it to keep him busy while the pawns whaled on him.
Lightning and fire (understandably) don't seem to do much to it though.

Just picked this up and am having an absolute blast. Quick question though. Got to the main city with the pawn guild and was offered a quest to investigate everfall.
So I head down and whip on some skeletons just fine until we run into what I think is an ogre. Spent about 5 minutes trying to whittle him down and the health bar didn't move a whole lot. Is lvl 15 too low for this quest, or am I just terrible at fighting ogres?
The way I killed ogres was climb up it's back and stab it a lot. Then it will jump up and land on it's back to crush you. Just jump off when you see the jump animation starting and he will knock himself out for a whle so you can hit him for free on the ground as well.

I met a cockface (my pawn said it's face looked like a cock) Cockatrice earlier, but it got away, I heard they will spawn in Soulflayer Canyon after being introduced, is that true?
Also Griffins, is there a place to find them regularly?

Stick to the road. Or better yet, stick to the side of the road opposite the drake

I'm oddly happy about the junk-look my pawn ended up with as a Strider. Looks so improvised.
Edit: I can charge my staff when it's "sheathed".
Edit: Thunder Boon makes my staff pretty great against trash. Good spread.

The swirly-options-charge-staff-thing is good for letting me cast in peace.

Bolide. So much swagger.

Little tip-
There's a rock formation near him that's shaped perfectly as a sort of bunker (its u shaped near the rest camp)
If you have a bow or magic this is the spot to be in until he's stunned.
Let your pawns do the heavy lifting.
