I often find one inbetween the bandit fortress and bloodwater bay (or whatever it's called). It shows up to hunt the oxen there so just make sure you ground it before it flies home.

Anyone know if you can combine anything to make silk? Or a place that sells it? Same for pigeon's blood, brawn runes and sinistone.

Reynard and the old lady from Cassardis (Iola?) might have some.

There is a spot in her store and Madelaine's that dispense some textiles.

    Try checking on Alon.

After 7 hours in I figured out how to buy new skills. I had quite a bit of discipline saved up it turns out.

Got to Gran Soren with no difficulty, only a bit of excitement when one of the pawns with me (no idea who since my back was turned) blew up an explosive barrel right next to the cart, taking it down to about 1% health. Good thing heals work on it.

I dicked around in the city for a while, then took an escort quest to bring some dude to a wall over to the west somewhere. First attempt we got slaughtered by invisible lizardmen, second attempt we took a different route, having to carry the idiot past a cyclops encounter when he refused to budge away from its feet. There was also a chimera somewhere in there, which was pretty much the easiest thing i've ever fought, surprisingly.

I think i'm about level 18 now. Slowly getting close to being able to recruit some of your guys' pawns without breaking the game for myself.

Agreed! Although I do wish the escorts actually SAID something when they were being attacked. Turning around to find hellhounds gnawing on your charge's face is rather frown inducing.

P.S.: Foefaller - did you see the face settings I posted earlier? Just wanted to make sure!

Yeah I did, and while making my Arisen look like a female Fable 2 Hero with max physique (i.e. barely reconisable as a woman) was fun for a while, she looks presentable now

Also, I think I've found the secret to making griffins come down regularly. Just before you get to one of the places a Griffin spawns (like the fields west of Gran Soren, or the one in the south, west of the bandit fortress, where sometimes you can catch it hunting oxen) you find some goblins/harpies/bandits, kill them, then drop one of their bodies on the ground once you get to the area as soon as you see one in the air. I've done this 3 times, and before you can say "This corpse will serve as bait!" (yay for the demo ingraining that into my brain) the griffin has come down almost right on top of me... Which is a good thing, since in the post-game, the only place the Griffin spawns in on the road NE of Hillfigure Knoll, and there are no oxen there for it to hunt.

Ha ha, wow! So I made a foolish mistake on a Cyclops. and got within arms reach. So he starts to crush me, and the button presses to escape are very slow for some reason. I recently switched my Strider pawn back to a Mage (she'd leveled until 10 previously). Now, keep in mind, I have not even had time to mess with her vocations. Anyway, I swear the beast was still at one full bar, and she casts High Levin right in it's face. BAM, it drops dead on the spot. I did just purchase a fairly destructive staff for her, but I was not expecting instant death.

I swear, the cyclops had an actual look of disbelief on it's face before it fell. That was a beautiful and unexpected moment for me.

  • RamiRami Registered User regular
Yeah lightning spells fired at a cyclopes' head really fucks them. Does a ton of damage and stuns them forever.

I found a camp with 2 Ogres in it, I proceed to 100 kiss the first one, just when the first one is dead I turn around to face the other one, which to my surprise only has a sliver of health left and then gets hit with a meteor straight to the face that instantly drops it, my sorcerer pawn scares me at times.

Also switching back to warrior is hell without Gale Harness.

    Trials & Tribulations:
I got Fedel and Father Geffrey's affidavits and I escorted the soldier from Windbluff. There are no more quest icons on the map though. I already turned in the Chamberlain's Affidavit for the earlier notice board quest and Fournival's daughter only said she knows he is innocent. Is it enough that I turned in those two items and the witness to the Duke's man in the palace? My pawn said it looks like he will be found innocent after I turned them in.

Finally started my third file on IceBurner-JP, now in the spreadsheet.

As I was very silly and didn't create magic-users on the other files, I knew they'd be a pair of mages. I also knew I wanted to use a familiar character as a Pawn. I considered many well-known console RPG mages not already by PA members, and it came down to Terra Brandford and Rosa Farrell.

In hindsight Terra as the Arisen could have been a Magick Knight for a perfect fit, but she wound up the pawn. Now I just have to work my way up to the green hair dyes...

Man, being able to create one Pawn really is just not enough.

I'll post screens after the hair has been dyed. Green-haired Terra forever. I also know she needs Meteor and W.Wind ;)

I should maybe get some screens of Alicia as well. The face is subtly wrong and it's driving me nuts, but I don't know what to do to address it.

Edit: I think 360/PS3 need some more Pawn exchanges going on, where we agree to swap slider values and use Silver/PSN accounts to make awesome Pawns available regardless of network.

Also, Capcom clearly needs to allow multiple files somehow in the hopefully-inevitable sequel.

The key for the water god's temple is only available during the quest that sends you there. You can double jump your way across without using the key, however.

Also, fuck Trials & Tribulations. There was only one affidavit I didn't get and that's because the person who was supposed to give it never did! I talked to her every day and night and nothing. Also pissed that my pawn said it looked like he'd be innocent every day until the last one when suddenly it seemed he'd be guilty, for no reason. So lame.

God dammit, I didn't realize I should have done this AFTER other side quests! So now I'm fucked for buying off of Fournival AND I can't get the golden idol! So annoyed right now...

Just collect the petitions from Fedel, Geffrey, and Symone, then go to Windbluff Tower and talk to Daerio and he'll provide a witness. Go up the stairs and talk to the guy with a marker on his head, and escort him to the castle and talk to Aldous. Simple.

Anyway, I think I'm done with Dragon's Dogma for a while. Just got burned out on it, really. I'll come back to it sooner or later, though most likely later because my plate is gonna be full here real soon (and is gonna get fuller when Agarest War 2 comes out).

A level-marking like that would necessarily be misleading, though. In actual, real reality-land, it would not be informative, because the character-level is largely non-indicative of combat-prowess, and even of sheer, brute strength, until the difference spans a large number of levels, making them eventually add up. One key factor in this is that Dcp is only loosely proportional to Exp. Another is items such as Gryphonic Victory.
    Edit: And pawns, derp.

I think that ox is only slowed down by death. It's an Arisen ox. You can even make it run faster by kicking it, if I recall.

    Edit: New DLCs. Anything fun?

Haha, Frigor plus Levitate really does reach new heights. As expected, but still good.
Can somebody equip a Vest of Cardealership and sell me on one-handed maces? The vocation seems to have plenty of bludgeoning without it, so a sharp stick seems a better complement. But it's exclusive, so if I don't use them for that, they won't be used at all. And that's terrible.
Of course, if nothing is weak to slash (I'm guessing hydras would.) then anything goes.

They have much higher baseline stats and wreck undead/golems like nobodies business.
Basically any weakness is offset by their higher stats. The only things you'll have slightly more difficulty with would be stuff like cutting off saurian tails, but as I recall, it's actually easier to just smash through their blocks with a mace anyway. Either as a trait of the mace or because of their much higher base stats.
The other abilities of the mystic knight remove the need to rely upon sticking sharp things in weak wobbly bits of enemies as your basic method of obliterating them so anything that would be "strong" to maces gets totalled by ruinous sigil/giant cannon/abyssal anguish/switching to a staff to spellify stuff/elemental enchants/stone forest etc etc.

In NG+, with the ox, just grab it and let it give you a ride, and let your pawns kill whatever goblins/harpies you meet. Maybe grab a pair of ranger/strider pawns.

You'll need to get off once to open a gate.

If anyone feels like taking a fighter pawn out for a spin, mine is gathering dust.
