The Government should prevent Adultery

The article.
"The defendant's wife was having an affair with the victim. The defendant knew the victim would be at his home, and the defendant found the victim at his home. So basically, infidelity, I suppose, would be the reason," Jones said.

There are many more like it:

http://www.rocktownweekly.com/news_details.php?AID=8927&CHID=1

And the list goes on.

Clearly, something has to be done here. The government needs to step in and prevent people from seeking to have an affair with other peoples significant others. People are dying, and it's just not worth the risk to society that our sexual and social freedom brings. We need to ban people in a relationship from attending anywhere that could be considered a "pick up joint" without being escorted by their partner, and must prevent those in live-in relationships from being out more then 2 hours after they finish work for a day without filing for leave beforehand and providing suitable eye-witnesses.

This is a problem which is under-recognized now, but will only become more pronounced in the future as the population grows and the number of potentially unstable people increases.

Ah, but I beg to differ. I demand we ban vaginas at once, they are the temptation of the devil.

The first step will of course to be correctly assign blame for cases of adultery. Those who are not adulterers will have no problem, while those who are shall be jailed. This is a technique which has worked well in many Middle Eastern countries at preventing adultery, despite being subverted by clear bias against the sexes. Our cultures are much more advanced and will correctly identify the guilty parties and dispense justice on one or both of the parties.

Adultery has been staple of this nation's political process for centuries. To see you sit here and so casually suggest its banishment raises a great many questions about you as a citizen, and as a human being.

Question like: Why do you hate freedom ELM? And: Why don't you just go back to Russia if you like it so much?

The fact of the matter is, people don't commit adultery to die, so the government absolutely must step in to prevent adultery from causing people to die. Potentially this could involve a survey of the other partner to determine in advance the likelihood of them just sitting back and dealing with it.

Apparently trolling became legal in D&D.

Or maybe this is one of those "double standards" that that one guy was talking about in the Forum Culture thread. You know, with electricity being a forum regular and whatnot.

No no no no. See it's this type of thinking which has made previous attempts to prosecute those who commit adultery fail. A more modern system will determine accurately which people are at fault and prosecute accordingly. This could potentially involve jailing of the victim as a pre-emptive measure to prevent both a violent reaction and as a punishment for not maintaining the relationship appropriately.

Oh elec, punishment is so old-fashioned! You should be advocating the medical model of treatment, where potentially violent jilteds should be treated with tranquilising drugs. That way, nobody dies, and the jilteds remain productive wage-slaves instead of drains on government funding!

I've been noticing that simple human passion is responsible for a large amount of crimes, including among many other things these adultery-related crimes.

Clearly, something has to be done here. The government needs to step in and prevent people from having these evidently uncontrollable "emotions."

Hey, if I didn't see 100 women everyday wearing those short skirts and nipple-only-covering tube tops, I wouldn't have these impure thoguhts. Women should wear clothing that covers their whole body, including their faces. And sun glasses too; the right eyes can drive a man insane with lust. Green eyes..... so perverse, so tempting.

    Edit - Tub Tops, WOW!!!

Actually, it's pretty clear that electricity is being purposely facetious to bring up a serious topic in a light-hearted way.

The topic being "Adultery: What, if anything, should we do about it?"

My comment was more about the actual responses.

As per the actual subject of the thread, I think that making adultery illegal is stupid, because there's no way to craft such a law without declaring perfectly okay things illegal as well. Of course, conservative prudes don't care about that.
