Creator Owned Heroes looks like it could be good, even though the preview didn't really do anything to win me over. It has Gray/Palmiotti and Steve Niles writing the stories, as illustrated by Kevin Mellon and Phil Noto, though.

The time-travel arc was 50% fantastic (Camelot, meeting the original 'Bolts) and 50% okay (Victorian England, the Invaders).

For a good comic, it's not that bad to be off for five issues in a year.

Edit: Besides, there's two years of Parker's 'Underbolts before that. So that's like 1/6th of a really good run being just okay. Not bad at all.

Hey it's not my fault if they don't count trade purchases.

And to be honest, I haven't heard very many good things about the Fear Itself and time travel arcs. I might try the "Dark Avengers" stuff if I hear it's good.

I can definitely see why the time travel stuff wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but that's kind of why I'm digging the Dark Avengers conceit. It's getting back to the original Suicide Squad idea, that worked so well.

I can't imagine it'd be unfriendly to new readers, as the whole title change is surely intended to boost the book's sales.

The time travel stuff looks like it'll be carrying over for a while, but that whole plot is pretty straightforward; the Thunderbolts escaped through time, and have been trying to make their way back to the present. Their absence has necessitated the formation of a new Thunderbolts squad, the eponymous Dark Avengers.

I'm already buying X-Force, which is basically just a bunch of grim dark (kinda) killers doing borderline bad guy stuff, so Dark Avengers would just be more of that from the look of it.

That being said, it does have Hulk's lil' boy, so I will grab #175 and give it a chance to woo me.
