Forever is a really long time. Too long if you ask me.

That said, current lifespans are too short. There's going to be so much awesome stuff that I miss out on after I die.

no matter when you die this will still be true

    end-of-the-world scenarios

or end-of-the-universe scenarios if we make it off this rock

if we don't go extinct we'll be able to sort that shit out

we've only been sapient for a million years? and civilized for five thousand? and we invented science five hundred years ago and now we're dicking around with the universe on a quantum level

i reckon by the time the heat death of the universe rolls around we'll be ready for it

    being human is so bad

fragile parts that break so easily, the sensations of pain and fear, organs that feel things that wear down over time
That's has to more to do with being an animal than human.

I mean, you could be a cat.

    Apparently cats can't taste sweetness.

    And break down faster.

If I did become a vampire, I would wait around a while until the technology exists for me to get around some of my more annoying weaknesses. Alternatively or in concert with the previous idea, take advantage of my immortality and turn myself into a low-impact cyborg.

A friend of mine proposed that she wouldn't want people to live forever because nobody would make art, nobody would fall in love, nobody would do anything exciting

that life is beautiful because it's short

I told her that was horse shit and she got mad at me

    but it is horse shit

you think we do those things because we're scared of death?

i mean i guess people work better under a deadline and death is basically the ultimate deadline

    but come the fuck on

yeah i think creativity is the result of death. i think that we would never accomplish anything meaningful if we knew that we had all the time in the world. have you even seen the twilight zone?

it's two years where i had all the time in the world and no real pressures of any sort, so i'd say it's as analogous as things get

Not to be rude, but couldn't cat be in a similar situation that you are in?

Only a cat doesn't even have the tools we have to get out of that situation.

A cat is also not self-aware, and doesn't know about things like 'metaphysics' and 'existentialism'
