    press release:

LONDON – March 31, 2017 –SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced the next game in the best-selling Total War: WARHAMMER trilogy. Total War: WARHAMMER II will be the second release in an ongoing partnership between globally-acclaimed developer Creative Assembly™ and Games Workshop®, creators of the world-renowned Warhammer® Fantasy Battles tabletop wargame and miniatures.

Total War: WARHAMMER II unveils the mystery-shrouded continents far to the west of The Old World. Featuring four iconic new races from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world – the High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, and a fourth yet to be revealed – players will battle across enchanted isles, bleak hinterlands, treacherous swamps and perilous jungles.

In a Total War campaign like no other, players will struggle for dominion over the ailing Great Vortex that has swirled for millennia above the elven homeland of Ulthuan. Performing a series of arcane rituals, each race must save or disrupt the Vortex according to their motivations – a struggle culminating in a cataclysmic endgame. Territorial conquest is no longer enough… this is a race for control that will define the fate of the world!

Total War: WARHAMMER II will offer hundreds of hours of immersive gameplay in this epic new campaign. Furthermore, a huge combined campaign map featuring the old and new world regions will be available for free shortly after release to players who own both Total War: WARHAMMER I & II.

“Total War: WARHAMMER II represents the next step in our trilogy, our vision for the most incredible fantasy strategy series ever made,” said Game Director, Ian Roxburgh. “The success of the first game has increased our ambition; we’re not only going to deliver a thrilling campaign in the sequel, but also an additional combined campaign, the biggest so far, for owners of both.”

Once they've released the third game and end up with the full combined Old World and all playable races... yeah. It's the sort of PC game Warhammer players dreamed of ever since Shogun was released.

Also if anything you could argue that 40k is even more linked now. Wasn't the assumption that the old world was in the eye or terror? The world fracturing into fragments makes perfect sense in the eye, the way some of the realms are described would fit deamon worlds perfectly.

Actually one of the things about AoS that I don't care for.

I wonder how much they change the size of Lustria and Ulthuan as the latter is already as large as the Old World and Lustria is considerably larger.

Also, some more Kharadron Overlords warscrolls have been leaked!

    http://imgur.com/a/xuOCW

The Ironclad, the big ship, can apparently carry 20 dudes, and the mid-size frigate can carry 10. The smallest ship can't carry anyone.

Units can embark in the movement phase and disembark in the hero phase (or when the ship gets trashed), they have to land 3" away from the ship and 3" away from enemy models.

The Arkanaut troops can carry three specialist weapons per 10 dudes, and apparently cost 120 points for 10

There is also at least one Battalion that mixes stormcast and Kharadron, but details aren't available.

I like it. I was very curious to see how transports would work in AoS given that it is likely to be how 40k transports work in 8th.

I am so pumped about the rules for the ships. I want a ton of them and only a few of the arkanaut troops.

Quick question: If a model has more than one weapon, do they take two turns rolling attacks in the combat phase, or do you pick a weapon and roll only once?

A model can attack with all it's combat weapons in the combat phase (and all it's shooting weapons in the shooting phase), no need to choose.

It's worth pointing out that this means a model can shoot and melee in the same turn.

And that a model can shoot while in combat, at another model, not in that combat, even if that other model is also engaged in a different combat.

That realization blew my 40k player mind.

So long as they have line of sight, yes.
I guess AoS missile troops spend a lot of time practicing trick shots.

I mean, given how often my dice fail me during shooting, I'd think it's a pretty accurate representation of "I'm getting attacked by this guy, but I shot a crossbow at that other blob of dudes annnnnnd.....missed wildly."

Next paycheck I'm gonna get a tzaangor shaman and a box of tzaangors but i was wondering if anyone knows if unaligned chaos models such as chaos marauders or warriors get tzeentch buffs if you give them the tzeentch

Played my first game last night, my bloodbound against the orc starter. Wildly fun game, can't wait to play more.
I can't believe GW has me playing fantasy again.

Now that techno-duardin are a thing, I want GW to give the skaven of Clan Skryre the same treatment. I would like to see techno-ratmen that would not look out of place in 40K.

There are rumours that Skaven are getting a bunch of releases later this year (the most recent shot of part of a model on the GW community page looks to be a Skaven tail).

I strongly suspect we'll see a bunch of Skyre stuff like plastic weapon teams as that bit of the range is currently a bit of a mess.

I'd love there to be some Eshin stuff but I'm not holding my breath.

My stores Khorne Bloodbound are doing really well. My blobs of spam infantry and demons are cleaving through enemies like delicious butter. I played two 2000 point games today and took many skulls for Khorne defeating Stormcasts then Sylvaneth.

Spotted this piece of Kharadon Overlords artwork by artist Lie Setiawan, and I said to myself 'oh my goodness, what are those delightful creatures they're fighting and will they be on the tabletop?' I'm thinking either Malerion or Tzeentch related creatures.

Hah, I assumed those were just generic sky-beasties (There's another art piece with some gnarly tentacles with no complementary model too) but it would not surprise me to see something of that ilk show up too, I guess.
They have little exposed ribs things too, could be some kinda death-wyrm.

The lore is full of stupid sounding creatures, like the heptadecagors, seventeen-headed hydra (go to Hell, GW) and 'volc-giants'. There's a lot of creatures that are described as bigger than cities, often-times with cities built on their backs - I don't like it. Too goofy even for Warhammer. But those particular creatures didn't seem stupidly huge, and the beak-like faces made me think of Tzeentch a bit. I think they would work as some new kind of beast or daemon.

the best part about the WFRP is they are going back to more of a 1st/2nd edition of the rules. wich i really liked.

So skirmish rules are out. They seem neat, lots of salt over the lack of units in the book, and death's side seems super sketchy at this point. How much longer is death going to waste away? They have to have like a new death faction by halloween right? Theres all that nurgle talk for 40k now though...

So I am going to try a couple combos for chaos warbands:
    plaguemongers:
    1 plague priest
    2 wrathmongers
    10 plague monks

wrathmongers give all units around them +1 to weapon attack #. Split and deathball it up! Only fear is how easy plague monks die.
    pestilens warband
    2 plague priests
    18 plague monks
plague priests can really hand out mortal wounds, and 18 plague monks is a stupid amount of monks.
    mounted ranged grots
    big boss on boar
    4 grot spider riders
Wanted to have a destruction list out of the grot spider riders I already have. Was able to get a big boss on boar for the hero for a couple bucks to round out a destruction list. theres 2 points left and I need a cheap fill in, I might proxy some other goblins in as 2 grots.
    Nurgle

    lord of plagues
    plague drone
    putrid blightking
4x plaguebearer (I dont know what else, I'd like another blightking but they are expensive)

Just a general nurgle list for fun. probably needs that 1 more blight king and then 1 plaguebearer.
And the storm of sigmar set with a 10$ ebay trip for a knight questor makes a sigmar warband pretty easily. I think that with a packin slaughterpriest from white dwarf that makes a khorne one as well. Nurgle seems ripe with abuse for treating individuals as units. There's some really cool stormcast heroes that I'd like to use, but lowest price I can find for them is like 30$ and I can't justify it.

I have a couple questions regarding Skirmish:
I picked up the Skirmish rules on a whim at my FLGS yesterday, having not really played AoS since the initial release. So, I believe all I have access to currently are the free compendium legacy warscrolls. The "new" ones are only available in the Grand Alliance books, correct? Or is there some other way to get them?
The reason I ask is since Skirmish only has "reknown" values for the new AoS warscrolls. Do you think they are "close enough" for casual play? That is if I'm just playing casually with friends, do you think using a Black Orc warscroll and the reknown value for 'Ardboyz in the Skirmish book is good enough to get us in the ball park for equivalent forces?

  • DayspringDayspring the Phoenician Registered User regular
All the warscrolls are free to DL on GW's website, or via their free app.
You only need the books if you want physical copies
