Bad financial shape and hospital stuff.

Today I was supposed to see a doctor for a followup. Thing is, I have no income (and when I did it was part-time, and even if I had it now I can't work) and no insurance. And I couldn't pay any upfront fee. So we had to leave and were directed to the state Indigent Healthcare office. Wherein I applied, but apparently I fucked up because I reported having $4 more than their cutoff point for assistance. Yes, $4. But the lady took it anyway since 1) I was guessing at my finances (didn't know I'd be doing this so I didn't have hard numbers in front of me) and 2) I have no income but expenses.
Now, financial woes aside, here's my problem - I pretty much have to wait a month before this application is processed. And I still need my wrist looked at to see where the healing is at / needs to go.
So as silly as it sounds, I guess what I'm making this thread for is to ask what I should do at home in the meanwhile to try and care for this fucking thing.
Edit - Making things clear, last week the bone(s) was(were) set and I was fixed up with a splint that locks my wrist and elbow in place.

Go to google, find a free clinic, and call them. It may be a ways away (if available), you may have to wait there for hours, but get that shit checked out.

Yeah, I'd say get a brace or something in the meantime, but if it's broken you can seriously do more damage than good trying to wrap it/support the injury on your own.
Go to the free clinic, take a day off, go there, wait all day, and at least get a doctor to hopefully set it and put it in a cast.
Another option, possibly, is to check out an urgent care. I don't know what they'd say, but if you can come up with some up front cash at all (pawn something) you might get them to set it and just bill you afterward.
Do you have friends or family you can call for help?
are YOU on the beer list?

I still have it in the arm-length splint from last week that the ER sent me home in. No pain from it unless I try to move it (which only happens when I forget), not that I actually can move it; it's locked in place.
I'm trying to get ahold of this "free" clinic but the first thing they tried to do was get me to a billing department. It was busy so they're going to call back. THAT DOESN'T SOUND FREE. More importantly though, they won't have access to my x-rays.
Try calling your doctors office and explaining the situation. It's very likely they'll set something up for you to get checked out, then put on a payment plan. Biggest problem is usually people skipping out on bills, so they're appreciative of those who WANT to pay.
i broke my hand a few years ago, got a doc to look at it, he said i needed surgery. about 2 weeks after the break i got a second opinion. not only did they say i didn't really need surgery, but if they tried, they'd have to rebreak my hand to do anything. This would have been about a month after the break, when i would have been scheduled for surgery.
long story short: if it is not set correctly, you could have a much more expensive issue on your hands down the road. if it's a clean break, the splint might be enough. my hand was not clean, and is now somewhat deformed (like my knuckle is offset a bit), but it doesn't hamper my range of motion or anything.
I've never been to a free clinic, but every single urgent care place i've been in has an xray machine.

They didn't set the bone and cast it at the ER? Where in the world do you live?
I can't imagine an ER anywhere in my area that would toss you a couple of tylonel and a splint and send you home with a broken wrist, insurance or otherwise.
e: Oh, you live in Texas...that explains a lot...sorry man

Edited the OP to make this clear but they DID set the bone last week and put me in a splint.

Ah, okay. You made it sound like they just tossed you a sling and some Tylenol and sent you on your way.

They were in a hurry to get me out of the ER. They checked on me so much trying to gauge how undrugged I was, and the first time I was able to clearly respond that I was coming out of it and was finally recouping they go "OH GOOD CALLING YOU A CAB!" I crab-walked into my house and was seeing double and shit.
Aye, got the info and thanks. At this point the only thing I'm worried about is changing from this splint to a brace - the doctor told me, before and after the setting, that he didn't think surgery was required.
If it's the kind of splint I'm thinking of, it's not a good long term solution. I assume it's plaster, which is really only designed to be good for a couple of weeks until you follow up with an ortho for something a little more definitive. I highly recommend calling the doc with whom you scheduled your follow up and discussing your options with them, as well as perhaps calling the ER and seeing if they can refer you to a clinic more well designed to handle a medical issue like this. It's only a matter of time 'til that splint cracks or gets wet or something, and an actual fiberglass cast will be way more comfortable too.

The fiberglass cast won't weigh a ton, either.
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
