Official Hugh Jackman training program (Does such a thing exist?)

Basically i've got 4 months of leave off from work, but during this time, i'm hoping to really clean up my body. I want to bulk up some muscle, but at the same time I dont want to become the Hulk.

NOTE: This is not a 'I want to get ripped so I can impress the ladies' thread. I just want to clean myself up... and look like Hugh Jackman *cough*

I've heard from people at work say that there is an official Hugh Jackman workout/diet program somewhere on the internet, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Of the ones i have seen, there seems to be many varying workouts - some that even want you to pay for them! Does such an official workout even exist? Is it bullshite?
If one doesn't exist, maybe someone can point me in a direction of a plan which works for someone who is just starting out.

and if anyones interested, below are some details of my current health/lifestyle situation -
I'm 76kgs
185cm (think thats about 6 ft 1")
I'm not fat, but im not exactly the most healthy person - I do have a bit of excess chub on me (i used to weigh over 100kgs about 4-5 years ago)
I'm fairly active in my job and try to get in about 2 short runs a week after work.
I NEVER, EVER, do weights.
Before last week, I would eat pretty shitty foods - fries, crumbed chicken, gravy, and McDonals once a week. At the moment I'm on steamed chicken, shit loads of vegetables, tuna and egg whites (with a single yellow)

There's nothing you can do short of taking anabolic steroids that will turn you into the hulk, so no worries.

There's: eat clean, lift heavy, and do some cardio.

And there's: eat clean, lots of explosive plyometrics/bodyweight lifts, and do some cardio.

The training regimens actors use to get into shape so you can see them shredded on action films are just that, but all day long. Any legit regimen (diet would be a major factor) cannot really be done by working people, and keeping the diet clean is usually the hardest element.

"Insanity" is a body-weight and hard cardio program.

But...lift weights. Don't worry about turning into the hulk in 4 weeks, not going to happen.

I don't know where you live but googe "[place where you live] crossfit"

Crossfit will fix your ass up

Another great workout is MMA/jiujitsu (which has the additional practical upshot of learning to tie people in balloon animal shapes)

If you want more of an activity, indoor climbing is pretty rad

I started trying to bulk up about a month and a half ago. I've only been hitting it really hard for the last two weeks (following proper diet, set schedule, etc).

I don't know if I'm doing it "right" but I'm seeing results. Basically, at least right now, my work out consists of boxing and dumbbells. With some cardio, of course.

I do three thirty minute sessions on the bag (M-W-F) and then three days of curls (T-TH-SAT). I'm going to throw in tricep exercises and slowly work more things in as my overall strength improves, but right now I'm keeping it simple. Oh, and I have a protein powder after each session.

But yeah, I'm definitely seeing results. Muscle definition in my back is improving drastically, same with my forearms. And my biceps are definitely growing as well.

I hate you and you hate me.

Wait till you start doing something besides curls.

If you don't have a lot of time for lifting, don't do curls - do pullups and dips

I'm definitely going to start lifting; I posted a thread about it weeks ago and it was very helpful. I just have to save up a bit more. And find the space. :D

And I can't quite do pull-ups yet. I'm sort of a giant and I'm not close to strong enough.

I hate you and you hate me.

Hey thanks for the replies so far folks.

That link to the Hugh Jackman page looks similar to others i've seen. I was expecting there may be a more detailed program in the form of a .PDF somewhere on the internet. I guess i can make up my own program using that as a reference point. Cheers for that link though!

JohnnyCache - Its actually 4 months i've got off work! Which will help give me time to clean my self up. CHecked out Cross FIt, and there is one in my local area. Sounds intense. May have to check them out.
Rock climbing will be pushing it for me as I suck with heights :D, but theres some good, steep mountain trails in my area. I've done these walks before in the past and they are an absolute killer on the legs. So will start this up on the weekends again.
Also have a kids playground down the road which no one uses, so that will be good for doing pullups.

Today I have started with about 20 pushups when i got out of bed, and went for a nice consistant pace 20 minute jog around my house. Breakfast was an omelette consisting of 4 egg whites and 1 full egg - Mixed a bit of chicken breast through it.
Later today (after i dust off my weights and bench) I will do some free weights and bench to expose my body to a few excercises.

THanks for the posts guys. Helps a lot

What are your goals? If you're working out a little more intensely, you're definitely going to see huge results after you're done in four months. Just remember that there are more muscles in your body than your chest and arms. Use weights that aren't too heavy for you, use proper form in your exercises, and you'll do fine.

I cannot stress enough how important working out the legs is. I've seen a few people not work them at all, and it looks disproportionate to the rest of your body. Legs are important because those are the things holding up your body when you're standing.

I don't know about Hugh Jackman specifically, but just keep in mind that when an actor says they put on a ton of muscle in a couple of months for a movie, way faster than any Olympic athlete...it's probably not coming from good eating and a workout.

Also look up the weightlifting thread in SE++ ... that might help you as well.

    What are your goals?

Pretty much to bulk up some definition in my entire body, and then strip away my excess fat. The motivation behind it is (other than being healthy) is to loose flab that has been bothering me. Like i said in first post, at one point a few years ago i lost over 20kgs, but never finished off loosing the remaining fat because it was too hard.

Cheers dude! Was thinking the same thing! Today i started with free weights and moved onto bench press. Between sets I did squats with a barbell, but did not add weight (basically used it for balance to make sure my back was straight). Then i finished with a few sets of dead-lifts. All where at a pretty comfortable weight, not trying to push myself too hard. Im in the process of writing up a schedule in Excell so that I have somehting to reference when I begin a more serous intense routine next week.

Most people seem to go on about Hugh Jackman because (as far as it seems) it is all hard work and natural. I think he is supposed to have spent 12 months gaining the majority of his bulk, and does intense training before filming.

The Big Easy - Cheers for the heads up!

Cheers for the tips dudes - really good stuff! I'm quite happy for this thread to be closed.

Yeah Hugh Jackman looks pretty natural because even at his most ripped he isn't particularly big. He's just cut, with some obvious muscle mass built in there too, but doesn't look at all like your typical roided up action star. (Stallone Schwarzenegger etc)
