Tycho on GS Live Talking About PA Game - Trailer Now Online
LegacyStuck Somewhere In CyberspaceThe Grid(Seattle)Registered User, ClubPAregular
Per the front page today, Tycho was on Gamespot Live talking about “On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darknessâ€. Starting at about 34:20 in the video and going for about 10 minutes. It's a full 3D RPG-Adventure(or Adventure/RPG), with the gameplay being a mix between Sam & Max and 8/16 Bit RPGs. Create your own PA-style character and fight alongside of Gabe & Tycho.
A trailer is said to be out sometime next week, along with screenshots. I can't wait.
Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
The interview says "No Voices", which is cool. I wait very excitedly for this game. I hope that the cardboard tube is some super awesome secret weapon, like the rainbow sword in Chrono Trigger. That thing is epic, and should be treated as such.
And give me the game on 360 and/or Wii and/or DS so I can play it.
It's coming out for all the systems {besides the handhelds so far, it looks like}.

I was of the understanding that it was PC-only, so any 360 news is awesome.
I don't know whether I'm a fan of the 'no voices' thing. In my mind, Mike and Jerry's voices would fit perfectly. Not to give them mounds of more work, though.
Of course, Zelda and Pokémon manage just fine.

I'm curious as to how they will pull off the gabe/tycho characters in 3d. Im hoping for cel-shading of some sort but i guess we will have to wait and see.

The should give the characters Okami-like garbled voices.

I'm hoping they just make it 2D on 3D.
That'd be nice.
It's going to be full 3-D, but in a graphical style reminiscent of the comics. (So perhaps the shading on the 3d models will be sort of "flat"?) I'm really excited about this game. SNES-era RPG style combat? Hell yeah.

Make your own PA style character? Hm, I am going to take a wild guess and say that shortly after this game comes out we will see a lot of forum avatars change.

I think that is a stupid name for a game. Who is going to go look for a game with that name other than the people on these boards???
(I am obviously aware that this game was most likely only designed for people on these boards, but still........)
The title is just not for me
I don't like it either, but i respect their decision to go all-out, balls-to-the-wall parody of other stupidly long, cliche titles that have become the norm.
While the name is a bit verbose, it fits the PA style perfectly, and it really does sound pretty intriguing.
I mean, if I walk into the game store and I see "Supreme Conquer 4: Nuke Fallout," I'm going to bet that it's just the same as every other game out there. I will have to know about the game ahead of time before I will give it any of my time.
"On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness" sounds exciting, cryptic and mysterious. I would pick up that box, even if I had never heard of it. If they have interesting art on the box (this is a given) and do a good job of explaining how it is interesting and mysterious, I would buy it.
Yes, it isn't EA Generic Sports 2009: Black Edition, with all of the built-in customers, but I don't think they're interested in making a game like that.
Also, I'm pretty sure they already have the option of contracting humour out to mexicali children, but they choose not to, just to be different.

I shall spend countless hours customizing my PA character. That alone is awesome enough to warrant a $50 purchase for me (though I have no idea what this game will actually end up costing).

I'm not impressed, imagination...
I want a poster of that, damnit.

Also, I want a Penny Arcade themed Streets of Rage game.

Probably 360. Hopefully Wii.

I've not heard good things about the prospect of it being on the PS3, but we'll have to wait and see.
It was composed by people unafraid of words.
