FloPAX 2012: BEST FLOPAX EVER

Heck yes it is time to start planning this thing again!

Those of you who have attended before know how this goes, but for the newbies, here is the low-down, mostly copy/pasted from last year:

WHEN: October 19-21
WHERE: Disney World, Florida
WHAT: Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

That's right, we will be going to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival and spending a shitton of money on the best food you'll eat all year. Yes, we are getting your asses in for free. Don't ask me why, we're just crazy nice people.

YES, IT WILL COST A LOT OF MONEY

That's not necessarily true. It will cost as much money as you want to spend. There are (lots of) pavilions to explore, and a ton of delicious options. Please note that kiosks offer tastings that run $3-$8 per serving, and drinks depend entirely on how fancy the drink is. And luckily for you, you'll be with a few experienced F&Wers who've done this before, and we can recommend what to try (and what to avoid, not that there is much). PLEASE bring money. However if you are poor as shit, you are welcome to come and hang and keep your hands in your pockets cuz you ain't gettin' none of my delicious foods.

You do NOT have to be 21+ to attend, but it is WAY more fun.

Tentative plan:

THERE IS NO PLAN (yet). We usually do dinner and hangouts Friday night, F&W on Saturday and then another park on Sunday. Last year we all stayed in a hotel together. If we have enough interest this year, we'll probably do it again.

LIST OF AWESOME ATTENDEES (subject to change):
@Sheri
@Javen

EVERYONE IS INVITED. Yes, even you wacky non-Florida people, if you wanna drag your asses down here (@That Dave Fella).

At this point I am assuming that most of you are familiar with how this works, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

WE ARE DOING THIS OCTOBER 19-20

We'll be working out room reservation details in the neat future. If you're staying with us, please please please keep an eye on the thread, I want to make the reservation early enough to secure a good rate. If you can afford to pay for your reservation now, let me know! The sooner I can collect money to make a deposit, the sooner I can book. We are looking at approximately $75-$100 per room per night. Some people are splitting rooms between 2 people, some between 3 or 4. I'm working out a list now to organize everyone into rooms.

    Hey @Sheri! If I was able to get a plane ticket for free down there, how much do you put everything else at cost wise?

    @sheri @javen As long as it's not the weekend of Austin city limits (Oct. 12-14) I'm in. Rainpax was the best, so I assume no-rain pax will be even better

    Zonugal: hotel was pretty cheap (like 100ish a night before splitting it up?), admission was free, festival food total bill around 50 bucks or so, and then just budget food and transport for the other days like you normally would.

    It straight-up depends on how much you want to spend, along with how many days you stay

    I always say to travel with ~$200, but you could spend less or waaaay more (not including the hotel). May be best to ask some of the others if they remember what they spent last year.

    Main pointers I'd say for Food & Wine Fest would be $50ish per day of the festival just on food. Beer and Wine is more expensive so if you're an alcoholic you may want to pregame. Respect your feet. Epcot has the most walking out of any Disney park and if you wear shitty shoes, you'll have a shitty day. If you have any food allergies mention them directly to the people taking your money for the food to ensure you're not ingesting something that would ruin your fun for the day. Most important in my opinion, being a fat pasty bastard, bring sunscreen. Your lobster should be red and warm, not your skin.

    OKAY SO I AM GOING TO LAY THIS OUT NOW

    If we wind up with a lot of "+1"s, we may need the +1 forumers to help pitch in for a few actual tickets. Keep in mind that we can get a lot of people in, but there IS a max number of bodies that we can get into the parks with our main gate and comp tickets combined. This event is mostly for forumers, so if a lot of people bring non-forumers, we may not be able to accommodate all of the extra people for free.

    Keep in mind that at the very first FloPAX we actually wound up buying a ticket to be able to get everyone in.

    We'll do our best, but just a heads up.

    I'm gonna try my best to get down there, but probably just for one day.

    Haven't been to Disney since I was around 5. Imagine how pissed off I was when I saw that the castle that every kid looks forward to seeing was a fucking cake.

    Thanks @Rhylith, I think I could scrouge together $300-$500 in between PAX and this.

    Although I was hoping for the weekend of the 12th-13th as that is my birthday...

    But I would be down for another time as well.

    I'm a person of interest.

    Or rather, an interested party. But I don't have a passport at this time, so I'll start the process and when an actual date is nailed down I can Yay or Nay.
