About the thing after the credits.
There was a bit with Tia Dalma and Davy Jones cut from the movie that explained that the captain of the Flying Dutchman would be freed from the ship's curse if his love remained faithful to him for the ten years he couldn't go ashore.

So basically at the very end Will turns back to normal and everybody lives happily ever after.

    Whoa whoa whoa

    Where did you read that?

Cuz if that's true THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW, DISNEY

I read it on the wikipedia. It said that the writers said that.

It makes sense, because I remember something similar from the original Flying Dutchman story or whatever, so it's probably true. This also explains why Davy Jones was so pissed at Tia Dalma for not being there ten years after he was cursed.

I think I like it better if he was chained to the Dutchman for eternity.

    Way more tragic.

If being chained to the Dutchman made him Dutch. Then no one would ever love him again.

    Oh man, what if
remember at the desert, when jack was thinking they were a hallucination, tia dalma said something along the lines of "oh but you enjoyed that one night jack".

Davy Jones is REALLY Jack's fault.

I heard that this is explained in the PotC at world's end computer game.

So you need to watch the movie AND play the game to get the whole story.

    but the video game sucks

And secondly, you don't need to spoiler Captain Teague, it's been known that Keith Richards would play Jack's dad for a while now.

Fuck, dude I was so way ahead of you on this one.
We were in the theater watching, and Davy asks Tia Dalma, 'Why weren't you there?' I went, 'Don't say Jack Sparrow, don't say Jack Sparrow.' She didn't, though, and I was like, 'Oh good, close call.'

But if it wasn't in the movie is it still true? Because the movie makes it seem like Will is stuck there. Remember that whole "The Dutchman must have a captain" thing?

I thought it was a perfect ending though, especially with the kid.

    I too, endorse this ending.

Also, it was way more tragic that Davy Jones is this guy who fell in love with a god, took up that charge to be with her 1 day every 10 fucking years, for ALL of eternity, and have her NOT show up the first time.

I'd be fucking pissed if I were him too.

It would be lame as hell for them to use the whole "happily ever after" ending. I mean, immortality comes with a price. Which pretty much ever Pirates movie has said in the first place.

Exactly. And the great contrast was showing that Will and Elizabeth were willing to pay that price for each other, and their child was flourishing, excited to meet his swashbuckling daddy.

No, see, Will would have been freed of the curse and rendered mortal once more after those ten years.

And when he was freed, Calypso would choose another captain.
