There was a bit with Tia Dalma and Davy Jones cut from the movie that explained that the captain of the Flying Dutchman would be freed from the ship's curse if his love remained faithful to him for the ten years he couldn't go ashore.
So basically at the very end Will turns back to normal and everybody lives happily ever after.
Whoa whoa whoa
Where did you read that?
Cuz if that's true THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW, DISNEY
Oh man, what if
remember at the desert, when jack was thinking they were a hallucination, tia dalma said something along the lines of "oh but you enjoyed that one night jack".
Davy Jones is REALLY Jack's fault.
Fuck, dude I was so way ahead of you on this one.
We were in the theater watching, and Davy asks Tia Dalma, 'Why weren't you there?' I went, 'Don't say Jack Sparrow, don't say Jack Sparrow.' She didn't, though, and I was like, 'Oh good, close call.'
:x OMG I was thiking the exact same thing while watching that scene. XD lol
why is cutting out the next captains heart a tradition? davy jones only did it after his only love betrayed him and he began to shirk his duties. at least thats how I understood it

he was only its true captain for 10 years then everything after that was just him being a traitor. generally you don't pick up the habits of a previous, corrupt adminstration if you start out being good
maybe its just more poetic or romantic or something iunno.

no, he was always the captain
he was just bein' irresponsible the past three hundred years or so

I'd also like to point out that the fact that he was on the first brethren court, or at least around at the time, kind of makes it extremely unlikely that jack is the reason calypso wasn't there at the end of ten years

One of my friends brought up the idea of Davy being on the First Brethren Court, and I said he probably wasn't. I think that he was just pissed at Calypso and fucked her over by showing the Court how to bind her to a mortal form.

Someone tell me exactly why
Elizabeth can't join the Dutchman's crew? Do you have to be near-death and then the captain saves you and ties you to the ship? Can't Will just stab her and save her? Then they can bone every night instead of once every ten years.
