I don't even know where to start to say how flawed this troll logic is. Nintendo's head start. Aside from Dreamcast EVERY time developers have mainly supported the first system to market. And before people start comparing this to dc Nintendo are way more powerful and have way more fanboys than Sega did. Sega were pretty much broke when dreamcast arrived.
More powerful consoles = more expensive = less people will buy it. It would also mean higher development costs and the install base (that is people BUYING GAMES for the system not sales) would be lower. It would also mean other factors such as higher priced games or DLC which would put off more people. The fact it would put more people off would mean development costs would likely be too high to justify making games for 720 and PS4 exclusively except for bigger independent studios that can afford it like Epic.
Nintendo and Sony pretty much own Japan. Japanese companies made more sales on GC and PS2 before Wii came along. Xbox has no relevance in Japan. That already guarantees Japanese publishers will stay. The only big name Japanese publisher that stuck was Tecmo and that was because of Itagaki. Capcom, Namco, NIS and Sega all still released games on GC (though they favoured PS2). The only reason they didn't make more money on Wii is because it wasn't accepted by core gamers. Since DS was and it had beastly JRPGs you can be pretty sure fighting games and JRPGs will be a buffet on Wii U. Heck Gamecube itself had some killer JRPGs and anyone who had one and played it would tell you that. It blew Xbox out of the water with those games.
EA and Activision milk their franchises to death anyway. GC pretty much saw all the same releases the others saw with their games. With these two it will just depend if wii u can run it.
And the big one. This is the one that will knock people for six. Do you know the real reason Microsoft won't reveal their new system this year? Because it will focus on the same type of thing you Nintendo bashing trolls scrutinise Nintendo for! The things you call gimmicks. You bash Nintendo and say they are marketing this on a touch screen gimmick and Microsoft is going to do the exact same thing. The next xbox will ship with kinect and their first parties will go to all kinds of lengths to shoe horn kinect features into their games and force it down your throats. So before you blast Nintendo for shoe horning touch screen think where you throw your bias. If you didn't accept wii, what makes you think the next xbox will be your platform of choice? This is why they don't announce it. It will hurt them more than Nintendo and they know it. By revealing Kinect is the central focus of the new system what does that make people do? It makes them stop and think about giving Wii U a go. The argument that you are waiting for the next xbox and PS4 is hypocritical. You can't say only Nintendo is focusing on this now because your wrong.
Know what I think? You trolls WANT third parties to leave Nintendo because you think games like Mass Effect are too "mature" and "hardcore" for Nintendo and their fanbase. So you jump on the power angle to make it look like Wii U will go into complete irrelevance and every single company in the world will ignore Nintendo when the next xbox and PS4 rolls out. But to do that people would need to stop playing their wii u. An impossibility. You actually think Japanese developers (who don't sell well these days anyway) will jump on a system that isn't even relevant in their own turf? I wanted to post this on neogaf but the website won't let me join. Its mainly aimed at the trolls on there. I don't know what kind of fantasy world you guys are living in if you think this will happen.
