It's not Monday. We've had two indie devs point to mid-july, the registry and achievements are not nearly close enough to being put up, After Endless Space releases on July 4th there is a perfect gap of no new releases that fits with what those indie devs said

The 5th (as noted) or the 12th (after the TF2 Meet the Pyro event ends) seem like logical possibilities.

I'm kind of leaning towards the 5th now, as it wouldn't surprise me if Valve had some overlap between the Summer Event and their TF2 Event (I definitely recall at least one Summer Event TF2 achievement), but the argument could go either way. As I've been promising the girlfriend her own copies of Mass Effect 1 and 2 for a good couple months now, I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later.

What would be more preferred for a giveaway.. DoW2 complete? Or X-COM:Complete Pack? I can only choose one right now, but I want to be charitable. Just curious to see what people would be more interested in (I'm guessing everyone already owns like every X-COM game ever anyway?)

It's the same frontend. You can select the original campaign from the menu.

(meant to edit my previous post, I am dumb)

I'd go with Dawn of war 2, considering that the XCOM pack is going to be on sale on amazon.com on 7/1 for $2.99.

If not everyone in existence has grabbed it by then they don't deserve to have it.

I don't remember if there was anything on this or not - are you not supposed to run Steam in any sort of comparability mode? I'm having trouble with Civ 5 (it's not letting me use DX11, even though my computer is very capable of it and plays other DX11 games) and one of the fixes involves setting my compatibility mode for Steam to Vista service pack 2 (I have windows 7 64 bit).

Alright, rules for the giveaway for DoW2 - Complete Pack:

Send me a PM with a comic or picture that you've made (preferrably MSPaint, but I won't limit it to that) related to Warhammer 40k. I will put the pictures/comics that are sent into a single post for voting, keeping the creators anonymous, again with PMs deciding the votes. Pack goes to the entry with the highest number of votes.

Is this something people are interested in? If so, I'll go ahead and start this up and run it until about 5PM on Sunday, at which point the voting process will begin and run for another 24 hours.

Do the timeframes also sound acceptable? I haven't actually ever ran a contest before, but I figured I would want to do something a little more fun than a steamgifts giveaway.

Nevermind, I am much too lazy for something like this.. Sorry folks, going the easy route:

    signature.png

Go ahead and enter for the complete pack and you will enjoy dawning wars of goodness.

So, is Syndicate worth the money at $15 bucks? I really enjoyed the original (I know this one is nothing like that) and I wanted to like the re-make, but reviews scared me off.

Hey Steam Thread - I may have asked this before but it was really aggravating me today. When I bring up Steam Overlay it will randomly close on me when I move my Mouse/Click my Mouse. My googlefu showed that I'm not the only one, and the only answer I saw from Steam Support was to turn off all background applications. I will admit, I have not yet tried to turn off all my applications as none that are running were on the list of "Bad apps with Overlay". Does anyone have any advice? I'm running a Logitech mouse with Setpoint(6.xx) as it's the old bluetooth MX1000 mouse. But with Setpoint ON or OFF it doesn't matter. Sometimes it'll not wig out on me right away, other times, like today, it won't stop!

It looks like the Complete Pack is cheaper in the UK (Base+CR+Retribution), but CR and Retribution are, individually, cheaper in the US.
DoW I Platinum is also cheaper in the UK.

FWIW, Steamprices tells me it's still cheaper to pick up DoW2 complete in the UK rather than just getting CR and Retribution, but only by about 50p (~$0.75), and you might lose that in currency conversion.

I think Spec Ops and MP3 are probably the slickest of deals right now but there are some other killer ones in there as well. We'll also roll out deals from other publishers (hopefully!) throughout the month of July.

    Cheers,
    Tony

I've heard a lot of good things. Assuming you find some people to play with you it's supposed to be a good time

So, is Syndicate worth the money at $15 bucks? I really enjoyed the original (I know this one is nothing like that) and I wanted to like the re-make, but reviews scared me off.

Read the Amazon reviews. I was mildly curious about it for cheap, even though I knew it wouldn't be Good.....but wow those reviews are really really unfavorable.

I doubt it's actually cheaper, but the dow2+cr pack lets you gift the dow2 if you already have it. I don't think the complete does the same though

What's this about Civ V being dirt cheap? I am not seeing it anywhere!

To Syndicate - at release, SE++ was raving about it. I guess it's one of them cult hits or some such?

    Oh brilliant

It really baffles me that Monolith was taken off of the FEAR series to work on something like Gotham City Imposters.

GCI was amazingly fun though. Can't say that about FEAR. :p

I can't believe we've never gotten another No One Lives Forever

Oh my goodnessness, that is quite a cascade of classiness all crammed into one post from @Gear Girl

    A... classcade?

Looks like (in the US) same price as the collection, 2.50 more than just CR if you already had DoW2

Never got to play NOLF but FEAR is one of my favorite shooters of evereverever and ever. I don't doubt that GCI is fun, I love Monolith and how they do shooters, but it really sounds like it was mishandled in a lot of ways. Maybe all that's better now, I don't know.

And I want a new SHOGO before they do another damn thing.

Holy crap, civ V, the expansion, AND civ IV for 20 bucks? BOUGHT'D
I don't think the goty edition comes with god and kings

    Yeah I misread it. Whoops!

Gods and Kings is however on sale at Green Man for $19.49 (US price) today.

NOLF is one of those games I've always wanted to try but its absence from all digital platforms deters me. Why is that not on Steam?

I thought Syndicate and Darkness 2 both were really fun. Both also have 4 player co-op mini story modes. Both look great and stick to the first person aspect in really cool ways and the combat is really fun in both, nor boring and/or derivative. Also, when you have a pistol and run in Syndicate, you run like a fucking BOSS. And Darkness is NASTY gory. I will prolly pick up both of those to play again, at some sale at some point.
