I feel like I should pick someone besides Yu to try and learn on the side. His gameplan really just seems like a more patient Chie the more I see of him. Maybe Yukiko or Teddie.

So are people actually picking this up? Or will this going to be another BlazBlue where people will just shit on it for ANIME down the road?
I don't think ANIME is why BB and GG are pretty niche, but because they are, it's an easy thing to poke at. I'm sure a few folks seriously condemn it for being anime, but I think most just consider it light mockery. The ridiculous presentation kinda serves as a microcosm for the idiosyncrasies that make those series appear impenetrable to outsiders, though.
As if you could expect any less (clothing) from Team Ninja. Today, publisher Tecmo Koei released two Dead or Alive 5 trailers showing off exclusive costumes for certain members of female cast. Players who pre-order DOA5 from GameStop will receive the “DOA Angels” white bunny bonus costumes for Kasumi, Hitomi and Lei Fang, while players who pre-order from Amazon will receive the “DOA Devils” black bunny bonus costumes for Christie, Tina and Ayane. Below you can find trailers for Hitomi and Lei-Fang (in English) and for Kasumi and Ayane (in Japanese).
people shit on BB because CT had some pretty legitimate balancing quirks and even though CS and CS2 were better (sorta - anyone wanna play another Bang mirror?) people always considered it that shitty anime game with poor balance
I think it's getting a hard knockdown and then using her kunai to keep a character in an endless loop
My understanding:
Vortex is code for "mixups++"
A "vortex" is a set of unusually good mixups/crossups
The "akuma vortex" for example is not a pre-set sequence, but over-arching slang for his quasi-pornographic selection of knockdown game.
I personally kind of feel a character is capable of a "Vortex" if they have multiple pressure options that lead to another knockdown, esp. an untechable one. For example, with akuma, you have a well placed overhead, a step back and sweep, a crossup mk,crmk, l-tatasu-sweep crossup combo, a crossup tatsu, a backjump with an ex air fireball followed up by a standing roundhouse, etc.
after anything that gives you a hard knockdown (throw, sweep, neckbreaker etc)
do a meaty kunai that gives you a 50/50 on which side you will land on. Stepping back and forth before the jump kunai will make you crossup or not, and the other guy has to guess the 50 50 or get put into more combos into neckbreaker, which lead to more hard knockdowns.
Akumas is a bit different, and Seths is more like ``yo, i have every move in the game, so you have to guess a 20 20 20 20 20 everytime im near you``
Everyone covered the idea, but here is a more gritty version
Once Ibuki gets a knockdown she throws the kunai and it can hit front or back. If it hits, you can combo off of it that ends in a hard knockdown so you can start again.
If they block there is a enough blockstun that Ibuki gets another high/low/throw/counter throw mixup which can usually end in another hard knockdown
How did you feel about the connection? I just had my internet installed today, so today was the first test drive. I think it felt about the same, but it could be in my head.

Just noticed this. Are you in SC now?
Looks much faster paced, and more accessible.
There'll always be an 'lol anime fighter' crowd though.
Yes. Come over and lets play ultimate king of marvel arcade edition 13.
This would be one hell of a game
Probably because its characters aren't a collection of tired anime tropes.

Well, using the ambiguities of kunai + crossups to get another knockdown combo.
