I think I'll still get Avengers and New Avengers after AvsX. Might as well see the Bendis swansong.

    I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!!!

So apparently Panther and Storm are divorced now.

My schadenfreude of the complete inability of mainstream comic writers to do anything with long term relationships is vindicated.

Is it just me, or does Romita's work look a lot better in black and white, than in color?

Something about the Romita/Dean White fusion just doesn't work for me. I think his stuff tends to look better with a simpler, flatter style of coloring.

It's you. I haven't liked Romita's art since I first saw it in Uncanny #300. Cannot stand the blockiness of the people he draws.

It was a flawed starting point to begin with, no one except Reggie Hudlin liked or wanted them together so getting rid of it is the right move.

On the flipside, Scott and Emma have been together for almost a decade now, and have been written well as a couple through numerous creative teams.

Luke and Jessica, Steve and Sharon, Bucky and Natasha, Sue and Reed

Plenty of actually interesting and well written relationships, all of which have lasted for years.

Storm and Panther were never interesting or well written.

No, I definitely agree with Munch.

That sums it up. If Storm and Panther had been anything but a a wish fulfillment for Hudlins little fanfic it could have been interesting.

They had no preexisting interactions of note definitely none when it happened and he all but admitted he married them because they were both African.

I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

I really liked Romita's art in Bendis' Avengers relaunch and the same inking/coloring team is on Cap so I am excited

Oh hey, Fractions' F4 twitter pretty much confirmed that the Concordance Engine plotline from Defenders will be carried over into F4/FF

I've never really liked Janson as his inker.

Still looks good, but compared to Hanna it just doesn't hold up.

I was so bummed when I found out the Defenders trade didn't include the little quotes at the bottom of the gutters

    Love those things

JRJr's art is hit and miss for me

I loved it in Gaiman's Eternals. The chunky colours work perfectly for guys like the Eternals and Celestials with their bright Kirby designs.

And in the Avengers you had quite a bit of that too.

But I dunno, sometimes it just doesn't work for me, it's too blocky and filled with lines and the shapes of things and people seem off somehow.

    Also his Spider-Woman is terrible.

Glad to hear that the Concordance Engine is heading over to F4/FF though!

  • BlankZoeBlankZoe Registered User regular
His Spider-Woman is extra terrible, yeah

but I think he will fit Remender's Cap very well

Remender is selling it as a pulpy Kirby infused Indiana Jones series and I think JRJR's art is action-oriented enough and scrappy to sell it well

    CYpGAPn.png
  • SolarSolar Registered User regular
    Well we will see

those B&W pages do not inspire me and I can think of a number of artists who would do a much better job

    but we will see

  • BalefuegoBalefuego Registered User regular
Even Bendis used to joke about Romita's Spider-Woman

But I think he is a great fit for what Remender is saying about his Cap book

I don't like certain artists on certain titles. JRJR is one of those guys, I would love him on a creator owned title, but I like my Marvel books in the style I grew up on. Similarly I never like Madiera (sp?) on Xmen back in the day...it's not a total disregard for his talents, but I just don't like his anime peanut butter all up in my marvel chocolate.

Inside of a dog...it's too dark to read.
  • TexiKenTexiKen Dammit! That fish really got me!Registered User regular
JRjr did a creator owned book before, call The Gray Area. It was drawn in his JMS ASM style, but it wasn't that good. It's about purgatory and a cop earning his wings and stuff, interesting idea just really dull storytelling and shows he's better at drawing than writing.

Those Cap pages look fine I think, and would actually like to see Moose Baumann color Romita's work at some point.

How many zombie Presidents can you identify on sight??

I'm gonna put my answers in a spoiler
TR, Lincoln, and Washington are all pretty easy. Then we have Taft in the top right, Nixon on the bottom left.. I think I that's a wheelchair wheel next to him too, so that guy must be FDR? So there's four left I'm not sure about.

  • BalefuegoBalefuego Registered User regular
    I love Chris Bachalo

what is he working on right now?

    Once a month

Marvel double ships its' titles a lot, but since Aja is a slow artist Hawkeye seems to be sticking to the monthly schedule
