Mojo always creeped me out. I think she/he was featured in one of the old X-men Cartoons and I was embarrassed to have the show on with my parents in the room.
Fast forward several years later during a smoke hazed viewing of "The Wall" and I swear to go I saw the MFer giving poor Pink "The Trial"
Amadeus is our third main character. He's a fun character to use because I needed someone really smart to tackle the mystery of the island. I couldn't use any of the other famous Marvel geniuses like Reed Richards or Tony Stark, and Amadeus is the seventh smartest person in the Marvel Universe, technically. He's also a clean slate in a lot of ways, and he's a smart ass," Cho stated. "He's kind of like the movie Tony Stark in this story, a Robert Downey Jr. character. He's even got his own armor, a special three-piece Vindicator-style suit, which has an artificial intelligence. The A.I.'s name is Calvin, as in Calvin Klein. There's a fun dynamic between him and Calvin where they're going back and forth, just arguing about things as Amadeus explores this island."
None of that sounds inherently terrible except for the fact that he calls him kind of a clean slate since he actually has a pretty clearly defined character and motivation from Pak's work on him.
I love Cho (both of them) so I am hopeful if skeptical.
I like Cho's art, but am not a fan of his writing. I also think that he isn't clever enough to write Amadeus as an actually smart character as opposed to someone trying to write a smart character, if that makes sense.
Not calling Frank dumb, but his stuff has always veered towards cheesecake and simple action.
He wrote the Shanna the She Devil mini a few years back and Liberty Meadows forever, which is admitedly a strip and not a real strong narrative.
His stuff isnt horrid or anything it is just kinda generic action with emphasis on pretty ladies and gags involving those ladies.
Which is fine for Wolverine, just not Amadeus. I think the series itself will be alright, but nothing I am gonna pick up.

We will find out Amadeus' real name is actually Frank, and he takes in a dachshund as a pet instead of a wolf this time.
I would have thought Cho being a 3 issue artist for Avengers would make more sense. We saw how much being writer and artist screwed up Finch with Dark Knight, and you already have Cho as a slow artist, something's going to give.
Ugh. Why do I keep holding out hope for a Deadpool book that I like as much as Kelly and McGuinness' run from the late 90's? The new NOW! book definitely isn't it if the first issue is any indication of what to expect from the series.
I loved the art, but that was about it. I didn't find it funny and the story is pretty hollow, IMO. Simple stories like that are usually put in place solely for Deadpool to deliver his jokes. If those aren't any good, though, it all falls flat. Oh well, I'm glad some people are liking it.
Iron Man seems like it could be pretty solid. I hate Land's art, but the story (though one dimensional as it is) is shaping up somewhat nicely.

Yeah, that's how I felt about the book too. It seems that too many writers fall for the trap of putting Deadpool in wacky situations and thinking that's enough. Honestly, the only I've ever felt managed to do that well was Gail Simone.
Kelly's run, and also Priest's run were really good too, mostly because there was actually an attempt of characterization.
Greg [Land] is famous for the way he draws very idealized and photo reference heavy characters. So he quite often draws women looking very glamorous. He's basically giving us the universe in Tony Stark-o-vision. So the way our comic looks is how Tony sees the world. He views it as a photo shoot in a magazine. To me that's a way of harnessing what Greg does and making it the text. Tony fundamentally sees women as beautiful creatures, at least on the surface. He's capable of seeing more than the surface, but...
So, yeah, here are my impressions of Deadpool and Iron Man:
Deadpool was fun and goofy. Not perfect, but much better than Daniel Way's run. The Ghostbusters inspiration is very clear, as it doesn't get super deep with character work or Wade's tragic history and keeps it focused on silly action. Deadpool's joke stream was a little much at times, but most of them were funny so it is tolerable. I think once the rest of his supporting cast joins the book he'll even out. Duggan and Poesehn were probably also front loading the first issue with jokes to make a memorable impression. Tony Moore's art is gorgeous and the coloring job does wonders. It is a super bright, goofy comic book. I'm on board for the Dead Presidents arc at the very least, especially since the Presidential humor were some of my favorite gags in the book, and think this could be a great book.
Iron Man was a pretty strong start. Gillen's Tony has a very clear voice and outlook, and it is one I enjoy. Tony being an optimistic genius looking towards the future and how he can shape it is a nice refresher from Fraction's industrial espionage driven plots. Land's art was Land. I am buying the book to support Gillen on his biggest title yet and his explanation Ian posted works for me. Another good start to a book that will probably be great, especially once Gillen starts to get weird.
Also of note, I just got a new smart phone so I've been using the AR app thing, and it is pretty neat! Iron Man's were somewhat shitty, just a weird voiceover for Maya's phonecall, some pencils/inks/colors progression and Gillen saying what his mission statement for Tony was at the end, but Deadpool had some great stuff. Posehn and Duggan each had their own bits explaining why they want to write Deadpool and how they're approaching the series and an actually funny who's who recap of the double page splash with the Dead Presidents.
I know it's just a silly gimmick thing but actual video interviews with creators aren't super common and having them pop up in the books themselves is neat to me.

Hello all! Im pretty stoked on this Marvel NOW! business and so far have only picked up Uncanny Avengers which i thought was pretty solid. That and the new Captain America are probably the books im most excited for mainly because i suck the tit of that which is rick remender. Other than that though, im also looking forward to Aarons new Thor, FF for allreds art, and the new hulk to see what waid does with him.
Welcome to the Penny Arcade Graphic Violence forum, Juan!
Rick Remender is pretty amazing, but I think I'm most looking forward to Hickman on Avengers and New Avengers.
Sadly, i havnt really read much of hickmans stuff other than SHIELD. I suppose i should start picking up some of his older image stuff or manhatten projects since the first trade is out for that
Deadpool #1 was pretty great. Nice art, lots of silliness.
Iron Man #1 was good. The story makes for a great foundation. Land's art is good when Tony is in his suit. His faces are kinda bad, though. The colors go a long way to help the art along, but they can only do so much.
Looks like the cats out of the bag. Its me an Bendis on a new launch of the series. This was a tough one as i was really enjoying my time on WX but Brian asked for me to help him launch the new Uncanny and how do you turn down that offer. Launches are tough as there's a lot of ground to cover to get things rolling. Characters are re-imagined, writing styles adjusted to, locations established. Its a tough learning curve that typically takes a few issues to figure out and grow comfortable with. We're still very early into the creative part so hard for me to comment on exactly what to expect. The daring part is that the tone of the book--feels like, its early--will be a little darker. Characters powers have been 'adjusted" as a result of the Phoenix five fall out and I was asked to redesign costumes for the entire cast. Everyone. Plus, as of today, there are two "new" mutants. Its a big jump that I'm sure will turn a few off but, we're betting on, that most will welcome and enjoy. One thing that you can count on Is that Brian will always give you something worth reading. He never fails to be interesting. Launch is two issues in February. LMK how I'm doing.
But, as Bachalo stated, there are two new mutants joining the team. I think they're the ones pictured in the promos from a couple months back, and one of them looked an awful lot like Rachel, but was confirmed to be "someone else." Pretty sure that's one of the newbies.

Only if it's a sequel to the story he did with Hickman, starring Cannonball, Sunspot, and Mojo.

Could be her, then. I doubt it since Aaron has said he has plans for her in WatXM but it could be.
If the book is REALLY crazy that could be 60's Jean who chooses to side with Cyke.
Alright, did not see that coming.
