I'm starting this thread for two reasons.
Reason one, I'm finally getting into VF4: Evolution. I'm several years late, but I played so much vanilla VF4 that I couldn't make myself get excited about Evolution--I bought it for ten dollars when it became even cheaper than the original twenty, just to have it, and never played it once.
But I'm getting into it again, and I want to read some FAQs for the new characters (especially Brad). And I can't find any! There's literally
one at gamefaqs, and it fucking blows, and that's
it! Where else can I look for a Brad FAQ?
And reason two, maybe a lot of you guys like the Virtua Fighter series too, and we can turn this into a general Virtua Fighter discussion. If that happens, I'll pimp out the OP and we can have ourselves a Virtua Hootinanny.

Navigating the site otherwise should be fairly obvious.
Crouching throw evade cancel, can still like my nuts.
Fighters Megamix is still my favorite entry to the series, however. Thats back when the series was more arcadey than realistic.
My only complaints would be that you can't play any low/mid guessing games with Brad (although that's a pretty piddly complaint, as you can only do that with about half of the characters) and that he only seems to have two or three low attacks, period.
But I want to read a FAQ so that I can see what everyone else has already figured out. Hence, I'm clicking your link.
I need to hook someone else on this game so I don't spend 99% of my time playing against the computer. Again.
I normally play as Pai (her reversals and speed make her fucking deadly) or, if I'm trying to play flashy, I'll switch to Jacky or Sarah.
I also love playing as Dural, but I rarely play as her anymore.
What can I say, I love doing 120 damage combos against the wall.
Shit, you better be committed to the game if you want to play as Akira.
He's honestly one of the hardest characters to play as in any game.
By the way, how is VF5?
Most of my practice was just spent on maximizing damage once I had an opportunity. As far as playing against actual humans, I wasn't lucky enough to get much practice with Akira. So, whenever I managed to get a hit in, it was usually for a lot of pain, but the hits didn't happen as often as I'd like.
Oh yes, I said it.
Here's your gold star.
Jacky, Pai, or Vanessa secondary.
I've been a fan since VF2, but I don't think I'm particularly competent at the game. I have a few friends that play VF4E from time to time, but we never really played seriously.
I was glad to see VF4E incorporate FMM's Hyper mode. Gamebreaking or not, that shit is a fun diversion, and pretty good at getting casual players into the game to boot.
And throw in all the random characters that FMM had, like the Hornet, or Janet from Virtua Cop.
I think what turned me off the most is that my friend learned by playing over his head, so he can be the most annoying, hyper-safe Akira player EVAR. I'm talking NOTHING but elbow, jab, low punch and that lame low backfist that is absolute cheese. Once he gets into that mode the only thing you can do is play super safe like him, or lose, and it really takes the fun out of it.
Low punch is lame.

Also, I am very saddened by the removal of Lion's "WHY AM I SO GREAT" winpose from vf4.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

People have no fucking clue what you're doing. He cycles stances every couple of attacks and it takes a seriously experienced player to have any idea whether it's safe to attack or not.
I cannot wait for VF5 to drop on the 360. I will be all over that thing.
I love Lion. I kicked insane amounts of ass with that guy.
I was so obsessed with Lion (when I was a kid), that I used to go around school and poke guys, mantis style.
I find it amazing how diehard the fans for this series are. They count frames, and do math equations just to get good combos together.
It's crazy.
I really want to get VF5 so i can try out El Blaze because he looks like he can take the spot for second fave from Wolf (i love grapplers especially speedy ones).
I never got to play with humans in VF nearly as much as in Tekken
Akira's like a double-edged sword you have to really know what you're doing with him because of his lack of canned combos and tricky inputs but he has the smallest move list of anybody in VF so he has a lot less to put on muscle memory.
Compare that to Shun with all his stances and the drink management
That's absolutely no different than the diehards for Smash Bros, Soul Calibur, or Tekken. I started getting into that with Soul Calibur, but decided it made the game less fun. :P

With as much fun as we're having playing 4, my friend's been telling me to buy a PS3. Other than the money issue, the fact that the 360 version will come out eventually makes this a tough choice. I mean, is there going to be an expanded feature set on the 360 version? If so, can they update the PS3 version with those features? I wish I knew the answers to those questions.

I think the main reason VF fans are so dedicated is that, no matter who your favorite character is, you don't feel like you're wasting your time mastering him/her. There's not really any "tiers" in the game. At the highest levels of play, the characters all remain pretty much balanced.
I've been tossing around the idea of upgrading to Evo, but I'm not sure if it's worth it, seeing as I played the shit out of vanilla.
As far as the game options, it's hard to beat the Kumite mode from the original VF4, so I think the original is actually superior in that respect.
I just wish I was good enough to play Virtua Fighter since they really have the best advanced fights.
