I will never abandon my Wells, even if power creep leaves me behind.

    Best looking ship.

Tier 5 version is... Isn't that just exactly the same as the existing fleet version, but with a universal ensign (which everyone will just make tac anyway)?

I suppose it would be more viable as a tier 5U version, since the universal slot will give it some access to intelligence boff powers.

Nothing really interesting with the tier 3 version. The power is neat from a flavor standpoint but it's not really a unique mechanic anymore. I'm mostly just happy to see another canon ship get properly represented, since in the shows the bulk of Starfleet usually appeared to be old classes and not the new top line models, and apparently not much ever got retired since things that were clunkers in TOS were getting blown up by the Borg at Wolf 359.

Well it makes sense Starfleet would keep junkers around, if only because prior to the borg/dominion, the galaxy had been pretty quiet and if it aint broke don't fix it rules apply. And especially for wolf 359 they'd be throwing everything they could at the borg, even if it meant ships would not be coming back.

And yeah I'll save my money to 5U my ship classes/get a new tier 6. Still wondering what our first free zen item is today, I'm guessing like fireworks or otherwise garbage for the next weekend but I don't have experience with these things.

The previous ones have been Monday-Friday, not Friday-Monday, but the pattern has usually been a gradual ramp up from junk to tier 5 ships.

Today will probably be junk, anything good will probably be Sunday or Monday. "Good" is usually a relative term, since historically it's been ships nobody really buys anyway.

Ahh well thats cool, I wouldn't mind getting a ship for doing nothing.

I just noticed it starts friday not today, I'm an idiot.

Borticus posted details on the Picard maneuver:

Breaks target locks and makes you briefly untargetable (just like subspace jump)
Teleports you forward 6 km from your current position
Creates a targetable clone of yourself at your original location
Grants a 15% ambush damage bonus.

Sounds pretty versatile, good as an offensive gap closer or an emergency escape.

Yeah, no. It's a garbage console on a two minute cooldown.

I wonder if its damage bonus stacks with cloak. I could see that console effectively letting you shadow step and unload in pvp.

Untargetable for 5 seconds and still able to attack alone is far from garbage.

And, yeah, other ambush powers stack on cloak ambush. It's the whole idea of a vape build.

Also keep in mind the Federation (and therefore Starfleet) has been growing continually from TOS to TNG era. There are always new captains needing assignments and more experienced captains commission the newer top of the line ships while the junior captains take over the older vessels. This is why Picard was given the Enterprise (instead of being made admiral, he could easily have been). When they were always trying to promote Will they were trying to give him ships that were a major step down from a galaxy class, because that's just how that works.

I hope the klingons get some cool tier 6 ships to hopefully spark some activity on that side. I haven't played in a few months, and I see there hasn't been a whole lot of progress on the station since I last played.

Speaking of being gone for a few months... I still have a pretty good stockpile of the old crafting materials. Should I just convert, or is there anything else I could do with them?

They revealed the whole week's giveaway, and it's an interesting set.

Today: TNG Season 1 uniforms (they gave this away for the TNG anniversary as well, so you may already have it)
Saturday: Galaxy bridge pack and Raptor bridge pack
    Sunday: All Good Things uniforms
    Monday: Two tier 5 ships:
Feds: Ambassador retrofit (The 9-console version from the Temporal Ambassador anniversary event, not the 10 console fleet version) This is not actually a C-store ship, unless it's being added now, but actually disappeared at the end of the anniversary event and hasn't been obtainable since.
KDF: Varanus Fleet Support Vessel. Not a popular ship, and it's also on the VA veteran ship token, so it's already basically free to 600 day vets or LTS. I'm actually surprised this is not the Kamarag.

It was confirmed the 9-console Ambassador will not get a T5U version (but the fleet version will), but I don't see any good reason the Varanus won't.

Well I guess my engineer will have to upgrade to a fleet ambassador then. He's been flying the 9-console version and I actually love it.

It's a wonderfully agile, balanced cruiser.

I've been doing what I can to keep the standard projects running with doffs and commodities, though keeping in fleet marks is a bit rough. Getting the dilithium for the upgrade projects though is kind of ridiculous. It's on the scale of months...if only there was a way to use alternative currencies for it, even with dumping it all into doffs to feed to the grinder I still earn fleet creds faster than I can spend them.

  • Options
    CyberJackalCyberJackal Registered User regular
I agree that the dilithium is the major chokepoint, what with the refining limits. Really need some more active people contributing for that.

They had me at Tuvok. Seven, ok, that's really interesting, and she figured very heavily in the timeline. The Doctor? Alright, that's pretty awesome, particularly considering he's gone from being a grouchy bald man to a civil rights crusader over the last forty years. Harry Kim? Uh... ok, I guess I can live with that, how bad can it be without the other half of the insufferable Tom-Harry bromance? Neelix? /ragequit

    see317 wrote: »

From the earlier dev blogs he and his new wife are the leaders of one of the main populations of Talaxians outside of their Haakonian-occupied homeworld, and Talaxians and Ocampa are going to be good guys. Meaning he'll probably be a character on par with D'tan. Which in turn means he'll show up and talk in every fucking FE from here to expansion 3, but in between we'll see him in cutscenes here and there but generally deal with some other Talaxian mission contact.

Shipwank time. If you can get your shipwang up for some of these Federation messes, anyway. Some beautiful Klingon and Romulan ships to help you get started.

Note: Most of these ships (basically everything with the "Intel" name) have something called Active Sensor Arrays. These cause a condition similar to expose in ground combat. Some intel powers and consoles can exploit this condition.

    Eclipse-class Intel Cruiser
    2ee6805a56f037eefeb30c2840f3cc541409699059_656x369.jpg
You'll recognize this as the flying ugly stick from the trailer and previous images. Has a cloaking device and a console that steals hull from enemies.

    Phantom-class Intel Escort
    d76682df0a75134124af27c9a6d458a11409699063_656x369.jpg
The Defiant-ish thing from previous pictures. Cloak, heavy phaser lance with exploit.

    Scryer-class Intel Science Vessel
    2b30c3c45d1fb0fae8650ea5f0c314891409699067_656x369.jpg
Just... I don't... Whoever designed this ship should have quit designing it an hour or two sooner. There's some cool ideas in there, but the whole package is just a mash of nonsense. Cloaking device and sensor probe swarm console which harasses enemies.

Guardian-class Cruiser (note: Not Intel Cruiser)
    1ccfe6a7d3e62f86d69b6eec1c3ba8a51409699076_656x369.jpg
This appears to be the awkwardly shaped cruiser seen briefly in Surface Tension, and is heavily influenced by Perpetual's Excalibur-class (which exists in game as debris). No active sensor array, no cloak. Universal console converts incoming damage to weapons power.

    Qib-class Intel Battlecruiser
    591a2840497bc328051dcc1693ff4bda1409699092_656x369.jpg
Now that's a nice looking ship, following the Vorcha refit instead of the Mogh and Bortas like most recent KDF ships. Battlecruiser with a battlecloak (!) and a console that steals enemy weapons power while overloading its own. "Overloading" is a thing that comes up in a few intel powers, and basically means exceeding the 125 power cap.

    MaHa-class Raptor
    046d038d720311a4b10bcd41b3b55a431409699099_656x369.jpg
This is the Mogh looking ship we've seen before. Not a bad ship. Not beautiful, but like the other ships in its style it has the look of an effective warship. No active sensors. Cloak but not battle cloak. Nose cannon console that does heavy damage on everything in the front arc and disables their engines.

    Faeht-class Intel Warbird
    359570cf228b7498ef7feb8e02189b021409699106_656x369.jpg
Enhanced battle cloak and a plasma lance with exploit. We've seen this ship or one very like it a few times, sometimes with upswept wings and sometimes with downswept ones, here with almost straight out wings. Maybe options, maybe BoP-style swing wings, maybe three separate ships (seems unlikely with the pack only including these six), or maybe WIP versions of this.

    Aelahl-class Light Warbird Battlecruiser
    6a4f060ad680a7049ed177f26c17deb11409699114_656x369.jpg
A Romulan cruiser that isn't two kilometers wide with a turn rate measured per minute. That alone should sell a thousand of these fuckers. Design looks interesting even if it's just concept right now. Battle cloak and a console that projects collapsing singularities that do hull damage and debuff exotic damage resistance.

They also announced a bundle pack for the expansion like the legacy pack:
All those ships up there, even the USS Uglystick (no takesies backsies, she's yours now sucker), a bunch of titles, a Talaxian uniform, 3 purple Intel boffs, 3 purple delta quadrant doffs, and 3 T5U ship upgrade tokens.
