    You can't really blame her, given what she and Kat have learned about the court.

    Yeah the court isn't interested in balance.

    I'm pretty sure the forest isn't either

    Well both sides have issues so far though nobody in the forest has done anything as awful as Jeanne

    and I'm really hoping we'll get to see some of the darker sides of the forest. I'd be really disappointed if the terribleness turned out to be one sided.

    Except we know very little about the Forest's history.

    If nothing else, the Forest has allowed itself to come under the "protection" of a mad god who I'm pretty certain is more interested in keeping both sides in conflict for shits and giggles than protecting anyone.

    But he also does not hide this fact from anyone.

    Whereas we learned in one of the more recent chapters that
    Annie and Kat's moms were both in on a plan to trick Reynardine into becoming a prisoner of the court forever, purely because they didn't trust he wouldn't stay out of trouble. It was sheer luck on their part that he even gave them a decent excuse to do so.

    Yet, the only reason he got INTO any trouble at all was because they tricked him in the first place.

    The forest and its denizens are very dangerous and oftentimes seem untrustworthy, but they make no effort to hide this from the court, whereas the court clearly is sitting on top of a mountain of creepy plots and secrets.
