Yeah, I try to wait as long as possible on games now, figuring on getting them during Steam sales for cheap...Skyrim was one of those games, and while I might be able to get it + DLC for $20-30 in a year, this is already a pretty excellent price. I would've regretted not buying it during a future slow month.
You walk around, chattin' to folks, solving puzzles, and QTEs. What's cool is that dialogue can be a timed thing too, so sometimes people surprise you with a tricky question and you do not get adequate time to consider the response.

Everyone wants ARMA 2 for Day-Z, it seems. Is the base game even fun?

It absolutely is but it's nitch. It's more a infantry simulator then a FPS.

1. First, you must be an active member of the forums. The quals here are relatively low, as I'm primarily a lurker myself, but if you haven't been here a while and you haven't broken at least a few hundred posts, you've gotta sit this one out. Sorry, I know this leaves out some good folk.
2. Down to the gritty. I like creativity, so PM me any little project, whether that be a MSPaint drawing, a haiku, a sketch, a paragraph of fan fiction, a song, ANYTHING (I seriously mean anything) set in or based on the world of any of the above games. If you aren't familiar with the world, don't worry about it, half of them I'm not acquainted with either. Get silly, be super serious, however you want to do it. Some sort of talent is nice, sure, but not at all necessary. I just want to see your ideas, and as I'm a terrible artist, your stick figures and terrible voices are likely to get my sympathy.
3. Let me know which games you're interested in. You can pick more than one, but if you do please give me a priority list, as they'll be going out on a one to one setup. No multi-game winners, sorry!
At the end of it, I'll pick my favorites and send the games out accordingly. If you aren't already my friend on steam, go ahead and add me when you submit, and let me know your steam ID regardless. If you've already gotten a gift from me, but want to enter, go ahead! More the merrier.
I'd like to share the winners at the end, but if you don't want me to let others see your submission that's ok, just let me know.

I just started downloading The Walking Dead (thanks @minor incident!) and Earth Defense Force (thanks @Aerynkelly) 10 minutes ago and The Walking dead finished already. Another 8 minutes on EDF. 4.8MB/s according to steam. I am so glad there's no download cap.
I think my ISP has begun throttling my internet because of all the Steam downloads, even though I have no bandwidth cap. I'm getting 40 to 100 KB/S when I'm paying around 40 bucks for 1 MB/S. Total bullshit.
Meanwhile in Wisconsin, two ISPs are on fire.

It isn't listed in my list of CD keys, but I think I read the skins are automatically applied to the game. Can't confirm yet as I'm still trying to tweak the base game.
On that note, anyone have any tweak tips? I can't get a stable framerate so far, so I'm playing around with the various settings.

Sweet, people to play with, something other than Diablo 3, which has become a cancer on my other wise healthy life. (No D3 isn't a bad game, I'm just burnt out of it and liquidating my assets in it so I can more easily SERVE THE NEWELL).
Actually, scratch that. I disabled the performance tweaks from this GAF thread and the game runs at 60 fps. Seems they were some crazy shadow variables that mucked with my settings.
Still going to seek out tweaking suggestions. I want to see how pretty I can make the game without breaking framerate.

I don't think Skyrim is going to be any cheaper any time soon, if ever. It's 50% off. It's $30 for one of the best action RPGs made, well, ever. Access to a metric fuckton of mods on the Steam Workshop.
If you have the rig I don't see how you don't buy it at that price.

I entered for LA Noire, which I sadly missed on the Flash Sale due to wargaming!
It's the re-pocalypse! Power is flickering on and off in the thunderstorm here, and I should really just turn off my computer and ride this out, but I want to take the opportunity to thank @Pyromaniac221 for Two Worlds II! He says I was selected at random to receive a helping of "holiday cheer." What holiday he's referring to, I have no idea! But I definitely feel cheerier!

IIRC you need to download those via GFWL. Which is an annoying pain. As I recall I had to do it with a GFWL client external to the game.
EDIT: Although I might be thinking of some other Arkham City DLC.
