I am desperately worried that I am about to buy DA:O ultimate, all 3 thief games, and possibly racettear.
Help me.
Skip DA:O. It has the makings of a great game, but (imho) doesn't really get there. Plus, the sequel isn't on steam, so you won't be able to play them all from a single client.
I want to enjoy the Witcher and the Witcher 2. From everything I've seen, the developers have done everything right and the game offers a huge amount of personal choice. I think that I've made it most of the way through the first act of the Witcher. I've made it maybe an hour into the Witcher 2. I just don't find the plot or characters interesting in the slightest and I despise the combat. Like, I enjoy the combat of both DA:O AND DA2, but I hate the combat of the Witcher games.
I feel terrible for not enjoying the games, and I'll probably eventually drag myself back to them in the hope that something will finally click for me, but in the meantime Steam has given-me sold to me at ridiculous prices so many games.
Speaking for the 1st witcher, the combat isn't really it's greatest strength and the story picks up a whole lot once you get into the 2nd act. That said, if you're not enjoying it you shouldn't beat yourself up about it, sometimes games just don't click. You might find if you leave it a while and then play it again you'll feel different, if not no big deal there's plenty of other games to play

Yeah the combat of TW1 was pretty much terrible. You either go swords and spend the whole game clicking and not dying or you go signs and spend the whole game casting Igni and not dying. I love the game to death but it has got some serious issues. TW2 on the other hand, is a goddamn amazing game. If the combat is too frustrating, try using more strategy to the fight. Set up some traps, some Yrdens and use bombs. It takes some getting used to but it's much more fun. It's also pretty much required on anything harder than normal.
Using Firefox with the "Reload Every..." plugin (I also hear Opera has the function built-in), I set it to automatically refresh every 3 seconds.
As soon as I saw a new code pop, I click-drag to highlight, Ctrl + C to copy, click into the already-open key redemption window in Steam, then quickly Ctrl + V and hit enter.
It takes maybe 3-4 seconds max once you get the process down, but even then it took me about 15 tries before I finally got one that hadn't been used already. These people are fast.
Just a reminder on how I managed to do it, for those of you still working on the Exosyphen giveaway.
Not having to manually refresh the page saves you just a little bit more time.
Also, I voted for the next big thing. That's what we're doing, right?
...and by the next big thing I mean The Longest Journey.

Well this is a nice thing to wake up to.
@Elderlycrawfish just gave me Chantelise! Thanks, mister elderly crawfish!
Bought bit.trip runner this morning, I had been gifted beat earlier in the sale. There's not much more frustrating than buying games all week and not being able to touch any of them. To boot, the hotel wifi sucks so bad I can't even watch videos of them. Things like bittrip and dear esther I have absolutely no idea what they are, just that people said buy them.
Running low on funds so hopefully nothing else will really force my hand - but I'm sure I'll end up picking up one or two more games by the end of the sale.

So Saints Row 3 is now $10 on Amazon.
That's the quickest I've been able to regret a purchase on the Steam sale. Usually it's months before a game that I don't touch after purchasing goes on sale for a lower price than what I paid. New record!
Also, despite getting all these neat games from the Steam sale, I feel like I can't properly enjoy them due to my constant worrying over a program I am doing at work on Monday. I did finish both episodes of The Walking Dead, at least.
So I spent a few hours playing DeathSpank yesterday. Holy shit this game is really fun. I played the demo on the 360 and wasn't too impressed with it, but it is so much better than I remember. Maybe I was just in a bad mood or something...

The combat is frustrating because I find it clunky and annoying, not hard. More strategy is just more work is more frustration. When I dislike how a game plays but I want to play it through for the story, I just set the difficulty down.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.
I am desperately worried that I am about to buy DA:O ultimate, all 3 thief games, and possibly racettear.
Help me.
Do you have problems finding the Purchase button?
He's obviously asking us to recommend more games to fill his cart with.
Ummm... Dragon Age 2 wasn't that good? I don't know, that's all I got. DA:O is fantastic, the thief games are iconic, and I've considered racettear myself.

This was my first sale where I tried to actively participate in gifting, and it was a lot of fun surprising people with gifts and being ninja gifted in turn. Thank you everyone for the awesome games you all gave me, and I hope everyone enjoys their new games!
Many thanks to @Mercutio87 for Jade Empire. Given how highly it's talked about, I will push it way up in my queue.
So Beyond Good And Evil seems pretty great already. But what is up with all the humans looking like totally alien species? First thing I tried to do was photograph 8 different things, and was so sure I was finding new stuff. Oh look a ghost zombie girl, nope that's a human. Glowing orange eye kid, nope that's a human.
Some of these goat dudes look more human than the humans. :P

It was good for what it was, but not good for what people were expecting.
It also hasn't been available on Steam for quite some time.
Ok I won't lie, getting stuck in the demo for The Longest Journey hasn't exactly encouraged me to want to buy it if it wins the sale
I love The Longest Journey, but it definitely has the really annoying adventure game trope in that many of the solutions make no sense. I don't know how many times I stumbled onto a solution just clicking furiously and combining everything. My most uttered phrase during the game was, "What do you mean I combine ____ with ____?!? How does that even work?" I am, however, a masochist and love adventure games, even with those annoyances.

Holy balls, avoid Shoot Many Robots. The thing most likely won't even work because of their stupid duckduck system and if it does there's no controller support.

What about the goose system?
It's some online service thing called duckduck. It makes Steam crash whenever it tries to enable it and it ALWAYS tries to enable it even when you tell the game not to do it. I spent about 2 hours last night trying to get the game to work and I got no further then when I started.

Yea I saw the browser window too, but just clicked no thanks an wen off shooting many robots. Not sure what went wrong for ya.
I do t know if people realize this but it's not just TLJ on the line. A vote for TLJ also saves on the pack with dreamfall, effectively doubling our gifting ability on the bestest adventure series

SMR is great on PS3, I can't believe there's no controller support being as the game showed up on PSN and XBLA. If that's true, stay the fuck away.

This was my experience as well. "Would you like to use duckduck?" "No, please go away."
I've put a couple hours into it, and find Shoot Many Robots pretty fun. I wish the character moved a little faster, but I imagine I can sort that out myself once I unlock some more costume options.
I'd say the Golem DLC alone is worth the $2.50 extra. Hell, Awakenings is supposed to be pretty awesome and it's like $5 on its own. The complete pack is a fantastic deal even just for the base game and that. All the horse armour and other DLC is just icing.

May just be my OS but when I clicked "no" everything exploded. There were several threads in various places with the same issue and no help for it that I could see except restart Steam, restart PC etc etc.
But lack of controller support in a game that launched on XBLA is just stupidly lazy.

@Island - Do you already have Bastion? Might as well be the first/only entry in mine to try to balance it. Or something.
I think I misinterpreted how many people hadn't already played Bastion. Because apparently everyone has.

All Thief games are excellent; purchase them now.
Racettear is ... odd. Play the demo first.
I've been telling everybody I'd give them a free key of Bastion but no dice.
It looks like everybody who has/had interest already got it.
