@Idx86 Because for some inexplicable reason, BL2 isn't on Steam yet. Many of us are worried that it won't be.
But I thought it was confirmed it used Steamworks? Maybe there's not a pre-order incentive associated with Steam, so they're not putting it up for pre-order.
Which series do I start: Mass Effect, Trine, or Fear? Also if anyone wants to play NFS:HP, Zero Gear, Payday or anything else I am usually open.
Mass Effect. The first game's mechanics haven't aged super great, but the story is great and 2 and 3 are phenomenal games.
ME1 was the best game in the series. Sure, a lot of mechanics were refined and polished in 2 and 3, but neither game can even come close to the absolutely immersive and epic story in ME1.
Never has a video game made me feel more like a hero than the end of ME1.
ME1 absolutely had a 'Death Star Moment' at the end. Everything about the entire 3rd act, the ending, and even the damn credits stands as a high point in my long gaming career.
You're a good man, Doc. I think we can be friends.
I like these people. Not only that but on the second time through you're high enough level to start finding these interesting mods that make you pistol shoot acid and your sniper rifle shoot missles. There's just nothing more satisfying in the mass effect universe. The first game is where it's at.

Infiltrator, Pistol Spec'd, HE rounds + cooling rails.

the only reason i never used HE rounds in my pistol was because it was too cool to watch people melt from acid

Gearbox say that they’ll be using Valve’s stat-tracking set of Steamworks tools to support Borderlands 2. As players, that means we get the traditional raft of associated features, like “Steam Achievements, downloadable content, auto-updating, multiplayer matchmaking” and Steam cloud support. The “multiplayer matchmaking” part of all that hopefully means Borderlands 2 won’t use Gamespy this time around. This is potentially very good news for anyone who found it an absolute pain to get into online sessions for the first game. The less services we have to sign into to get into multiplayer, the better things tend to work.

Of course, if it wasn't for ME1, I wouldn't have cared about
the Normandy being destroyed

Yeah, although I haven't played ME3 yet, ME blows ME 2 out of the water.

Or more likely they're still working out all the TF2 hats that will be Steam preorder bonuses and thus will add Borderlands 2 as a preorder title later than other online merchants that aren't offering exclusives.
I played through ME1 like five times, but I've only gone through ME2 once. I can't even really explain why, but ME1 always felt better to me, despite some of the combat stuff in ME2 being flat out amazing. I have yet to play ME3 because it is Origin only, and I am hesitant to start fracturing my game library. Having everything on Steam is just so convenient for me.

I think it's because ME1 is just a far tighter narrative experience, with a clear plot progression and character development available, as well as just does a great job of evoking all the positive nostalgia for Sci-Fi of the 80s and 90s. It's a well designed, internally-consistent world that speaks to the explorer and the hero in all of us.
Borderlands 2 will be on Steam. It always takes longer for preorders to appear in Steam. The only questions are (a) when, (b) will it include premiere club, which seems likely, and (c) whether there will be a four-pack again.
@Corpekata, could you link that Amazon discount please? I don't see mention of it.
@Antihippy I was exhausted, but wanted to take a quick look at it just to get a feel, and was immediately and wonderfully absorbed. I don't want to be hyperbolic, but every other game can stop trying to have a sense of whimsy and charm now. Forever. It's been done at the maximum level.
My little guys just flew away as things got too real. Later today I will go back to them, and we will continue our magical adventure. Thanks again for this game, it's been a great surprise since it was mostly on my wish list due to art style and generally positive vibe.
Mmmm yes. Thinking about this game still brings a smile to my face.

So tired today. Civ V had a bad case of the justonemoreturnitis last night and I am getting too old for this (Danny Glover voice)
I didn't work yesterday. So I put 9 hours into Civ V. Strait. I need to not touch that game for a bit.
Man, I'm getting scared now. It's right there in my Steam list, but I know the second I launch it I'm going to pretty much lose a whole day.
It's not "losing" a whole day if you're doing something worthwhile. And really, what's more worthwhile than global domination?

ME1 left me with a huge desire to play ME2 and continue the story. ME2 left me with 0 desire to play ME3. Combined with origin & the stupid ending, I doubt I'll ever bother with it.
ME1 was a great RPG for all the reasons Houn gave. While some people gripe about the combat, I felt it was actually slightly better than ME2 because of ME2's global cooldowns. Ugh how I hated them. ME1 was a great RPG with some flaws (like most great RPGs). Perfection isn't a reasonable standard for an ambitious project. Then ME2 came in, and instead of just fixing the flaws, they stripped out most of the things that made ME1 memorable. The result is a mediocre shooter with dialogue trees. The worst is the characters. They felt like real people in ME1. With some exceptions, they just felt like soulless caricatures & recycled tropes in ME2 (exception #1 being Mordin).

It's not in effect yet. Borderlands is going on sale the 26th so will likely show up then as a promotion. He said they'd give it to everyone though that had already bought it too.

I really liked the characters in ME2 and felt it was one of the few things they did right. I enjoyed learning more about every one of them and doing their missions.

To be clear, I'm not hating on ME2 and 3 (unless you want to talk ME3's ending, pre or post "fix"), they both did some amazing things. They also both failed to capture the immersive magic of ME1.
Hi I wanted to join the Penny-arcade Steam group so I could start playing with everyone. How do I get invited? Thank you for your time.
I know you won't get into the G&T group due to just joining today and I'm not sure on the PA group requirements, I would assume only having 1 post won't help getting in though, especially with recent Steam Gift problems.
Because if you're going to attempt to squeeze that big black monster into your slot you will need to be able to take at least 12 inches or else you're going to have a bad time...
@Lost please reroll the giveaway I won, Island gave me Breath of Death/Cthulhu Saves the World and I must've forgotten to remove my entry from your sign-up when that happened. Sorry for any inconvenience.
No problems, I'll reroll them later tonight when I am off work.
