Elixir B is totally man-mode, but I took S for obvious pvp related reasons.

Well, keep in mind that I traited my guardian for defense, but geared for offense. I agree with you on the shield thing, I dropped mine about level 4 and never picked it up again. Shield of the Avenger is a _great_ defensive ability that you don't have to think about very much. (I'm sure I would be better at playing the guardian next time - it was my very first class ever and I hadn't internalized many of the game mechanics yet.) I think Staff guardians are probably one of the best support classes you can play, and 2H guardians are simply *amazing* in melee.
Yeah, the Hammer Guardian 4 skill is almost reason enough to play the damned class. Way too fun.
and do you know how I'm going to get my shield-using fix? With my goddamned elementalist. Makes total sense. At least she'll be a Norn, so I can slam people with a giant shield as a giant Norn.

I have been procrastinating choosing what characters/builds I would employ. Gonna have to start reading up. Plus I need to finalize my main toon, and alts, and decide what to name them for the head start.

If you preorder the game do you get access to the stress tests at this late juncture?
I think only pre-purchasers got guaranteed access to the BWEs and I think the rules are the same for the stress tests (except they hand out no beta keys for the stress tests).
I keep on pouring over the elementalist traits and skills and it is clear to me I want to be a dagger/dagger air/water/arcane crit focused elementalist.
Even narrowing it down to that there still seems to be quite a bit of variety in what I can pull off with it, such as focusing on arcane and sigils, cantrips, vulnerability stacking, fast and defensive condition purging, etc.
No weapon sigils because selecting them on my phone is impossible. The idea is a goddamn clone factory where clones cause bleed on hit, and you are creating clones and stealthing to lose targeting whenever they start hitting you. Clones cause cripple on death, and sword/great sword provide ample defense and control.
So, 244 hours and 37 minutes until servers open, best case scenario? Yes. Yes. But I still need to get my food & drink in order for a potential 24+ hour gaming session.

Three hours early for headstart is excellent news for me, my work schedule, and time zone (Central). I'll probably be off of work at 11PM at the latest, and if servers are up 3 hours early I can get started at midnight instead of 3AM in the damn morning.

I'm sure they will be up early... even for the beta weekends the servers came up early, but it is no guarantee. The only thing we know is that they will be up by midnight pacific time (8am British summer time). Does mean being ready and waiting at 9pm PDT (5am BST) for those who want to get in ASAP though.

General consensus is it works out at 8:00pm GMT as far as I can tell.

It will be 8pm in the UK, but you shouldn't be converting PST to GMT. The UK is currently on GMT+1 and PDT is in effect right now (GMT-7).
