So, got the Piranha, put it on my turian soldier, mail-slotting guardians halfway across White.
As someone that doesn't play this game enough (at least on gold) to have most rares maxed out (I have several at VII-ish), I'm pretty satisfied with the way they have the ultra-rares set up. I think them giving everyone one in commendation packs is a great idea, and the alleged 10% drop from spectre packs has been pretty accurate for me.
RNG is frustrating me though, but that's mostly about wanting to play the new classes when they come out and not getting lucky, in addition to getting upgrades for weapons I never use while my GPS has been sitting at level IV since the first damn DLC came out. I may have to start using the graal and disciple because at this rate, they'll definitely be my first rares to hit level X, unless I get lucky with my beloved carnifex (but that's been stuck at IX for weeks).
Tried out my Kroguard, had a lot of fun. I need to get better at aiming my heavy melee though, since half the time I wiff I do love the fact that on Bronze/Silver, the escort/pizza delivery objectives are cake since he can pretty much withstand most of the beatings doled out. Which is good since on Bronze, too often no one else tries to do the objectives.
I unlocked the Salarian Engineer, so maybe I will take a break from Vanguarding to work on him. Any build suggestions?
I'm going 6/6/3/6/5 or 6/6/5/6/3. At level 5 of energy drain, take the 100% shields restored and you can drop the extra health/shield in fitness. I'm not too big a fan of incinerate because enemies can dodge it, but it's good on armour. It's basically offensive vs. defensive. Take fitness if you prefer defence, incinerate if you want the extra armour burn.
I'd be curious to hear how that turns out as I've been considering a 6/6/3/6/5 build for awhile now to roll with on platinum. Like you said, all the mooks just dodge it anyway, and all the things that don't dodge (Atlas, Brute etc) have so much armor that it barely even scratches the surface. Funny to think that there was a time where people said guns were useless and powers were the only way to kill things.
I'm up to L16 now. First thing I notice is with salgineers (and with gethfiltrators too) is I score really low. Like, yesterday I took a first shot at Platinum. We were gethgineer, 2 salfiltrators and me as a gethfiltrator. They were all L20 and I was L16. We wiped on Wave 8, but all 3 of them had more than double my score. Same for salgineer. Gf and I played a Random/Random/Bronze (Reactor/Reaper) and she got 60% more points than me as a L19 human engineer against my L12 salgineer. With this build energy drain becomes your main power. It's an excellent staggerer but has little dp on non-armored, non-synthetics. Once you get your decoy to L5 and take the shock approach, you can start really affecting mooks. Would recommend this build for higher difficulties only. Gold and above.
Brings me to another question, what weapon do you guys equip salgineers with? I've been using a Tempest V to keep the cooldown low but I feel like there's a better option, and I'm not sure what it is...

Grunt has some self-esteem/depression issues that the games never fully explain...
Finished up my ME2 run last night, and during the Reaper IFF mission, at the end with the core and all the husks I notice Grunt getting swarmed by them. He starts to do his charge attack, but I also tossed a throw field his way to give him breathing room (seriously, Throw Field is the shit) and I must have killed the husk he was targeting. His "dead enemy" line overwrote the charge attack line, so I hear:
"I AM... worthless" :C
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

How do you manage to score lowly with a geth infiltrator? I routinely top people's scores by triple the nearest person or more.
You stay dead most of the waves because of your anemic shields and life bar?

You're kidding right? On Gold, Marauders, Ravagers, Nemesis, Phantoms and Rocketeers can you hit you from the other side of the map like they were sporting sniper rifles as long as they have clear line of sight.

well, yeah, but if you're in clear line of sight, you probably ought to be cloaked.
To a degree. If you're holding a position for a while (obvious example; outside corner of the building on GWG) the enemies will spot you and fire at that location often enough that even cloaking up and then leaning around to fire will lead to getting hit. How? Because you're likely to lean into one of the dozen shots that will be peppering your cover for those last 5 seconds, and something will eventually tag you. Not that this is a big deal really, shield gating will protect you from health loss in most cases of non-concentrated fire, but getting hit can still be a common thing even if you're only ever out of cover long enough to land your scoped shots.
Which reminds me about the one thing that was really hard to do when spec'ing my Demolisher Engineer; not taking any fitness. I know it's not that big a deal, but I just feel so naked without a slight shield/health bump and 15% better recharge time. I skip rank 6 all the time (depending on the class), but that 15% is a mainstay across most of my characters.
As much as I love homing grenades for hardened targets, if I respec'd the class, I could see myself ignoring some of homing grenade for Fitness and just relying primarily on EMP grenade spam, which is primarily what I do anyway (stripping shields like it does in pairs means the rest of my crew generally make short work of whatever is left standing).

I still need to get my hands on 80 Ultra-rare weapons, 31 Rare gear items, and 47 Uncommon gear items. I don't know which are the ones that are unobtainable and shouldn't be counted.

I've been farming Geth/White/Gold for months now using a Salarian Engineer with my trusty Carnifex. AFAIK the Carnifex is the ultimate weapon for CR reduction, good damage and perfect accuracy (it helps that I have Carnifex X but any level is good). You could use that and the Tempest and probably have a great cool down. When the SMG ultra-light materials bug is fixed, I'll be keeping my Carnifex AND my N7 Hurricane and I'll still have a 200% CR.
You generally will not score well as a salgineer, because neither Energy Drain nor Incinerate are very good, and Decoy will not get you any points unless you spec for damage in which case you might get a few.

Did you take the restore shields option with Shadow Strike? I'm thinking of going with the damage instead to make up for losing the damage bonus with Cloak.
Hey can anybody give a little advice on the best Demolisher build? I'm going to be using it a lot this weekend to get the squad goal and help others get them too, but I'm not a big grenade user so I'm not sure the best way to spec them. I plan to use the N7 Valiant and Scorpion since CR isn't an issue. Maybe I'll switch it to Harrier and Scorpion, since I'll have a constant source of extra ammo.
Also, another question: on the Leaderboard page, 90% of my friends are not showing up on it, and I don't remember friending the 3-4 people who do appear - anyone else having this problem?

I did. I am iffy on that decision, though, since often I'm starting out the move with full shields already. But, at least on silver, there are only a couple things I can't instakill from a cloaked shadow strike, and they usually go down with the follow up move.

I went with it for now as well, but I think I am missing the extra damage. I can kill Marauders on Silver if I cloak before Shadow Strike, but an uncloaked Shadow Strike requires to hits. I wonder if the extra damage evolution would kill them outright? Also, does the melee gear and equipment boost Shadow Strike? It seems like it does, so I've been using it, but I'm not positive about it.

I'm at 30/110 ranks and I've sunk a pretty good amount of time into the game. Not nearly as much as folks like Curly, but I've got to be pretty far out on the time-spent-in-multiplayer curve. Other than by cheating ("cheating"?) via coalesced hacks, it takes a tremendous amount of time to even get to 60/110...
They really should buff the damage of energy drain and incinerat. I know I love the Cerberus classes a lot, but smash chews the fuck out of armor and does/sets up biotic explosions, while fire explosions take a bit more effort to do on purpose and incinerate does shit damage, even to armor.

Agreed, which is precisely why I'm not a fan of purely RNG based systems, especially given that we can't even trade between us (which might alleviate the issue to some degree, letting people swap around ranks of UR's they don't want for ones they do). I've maxed my gold weapons and am a handful from finishing character appearance options. Aside from gear and uncommon weapons (both of which continue to show up at a steady pace) UR's are all that's left to care about, and where one person will spend 5 million credits and get 0-5 UR's, someone else will get 5-10, and someone else will hit a lucky streak and get 40+ (unless the game is hard capped on how many you can get across X packs, but I highly doubt that. Hell, I've gotten 2 in a single PSP, so even that's possible).
Does Origin even track how many hours you've played in a game? I vaguely recall how many hours my ME3 save has, and I've only played once so everything else should pretty much be MP, by that we could begin to figure out where the luck ends and the raw hours put in begins at least.

Did you take the restore shields option with Shadow Strike? I'm thinking of going with the damage instead to make up for losing the damage bonus with Cloak.
Was using a Piranha. Don't have a GPS but have a Claymore I.
Nope. Only if you buy ME3-branded Razer gear.
