Does the campaign get better? I'm on game 3-ish and I can say I'm not a fan of the only-sort-of bloodbowl rules that have been in place so far. Easy so far, sure, but not really satisfying. Plus I'm not the biggest fan of hoomans as a team, anyway, so that's probably coloring my impressions a bit.

As the games continue more and more of the rules get implemented. Finally it will tell you "Now You're playing REAL blood bowl!" And you get things like turns ending if a guy falls down. So, there's that. I finished the campaign on X1 this weekend. The last two games they start adding stupid "ultimate modifiers!" but, whatever. It's cool.

I'll join up for sure. I was going to write a post yesterday asking if we had enough people to get a league started for us.
I started a single player Old World League this weekend, and my Chaos team is fairing well against the AI. First couple matches were against Brets and Dark Elves, whom I bashed into submission (I think 5 different players gained SPP in the first 2 matches). After 4 matches I was at the money cap (actually, it may have been after 3 and I missed out on money in the 4th). But I decided to pick up my first Minotaur rather than a 4th re-roll - decent decision? Seemed like with most of my Chaos Warriors getting having some skills at this point, along with 2-3 Beastmen getting skills as well, it was safe to pick up the big guy. Frenzy/Mighty Blow/Horns just sounded too good to pass up.
How does the whole money cap / extra cash converted to team value work anyway?
I did a rando online match. My opponent just ends his final turn, win secured. Last turn of the game, my team has gotten no sp all game, so I block one of his blitzers, hoping for an injury.
Killed him outright. Guy is mighty upset, as he avoided throwing any blocks to just be nice and end the game.
How is the league management in this game? BB1's league management was dreadful. Any improvements?
In my admittedly limited experience I can say that it doesn't seem worse. I think a couple of improvements over all, but nothing mind blowing. I haven't had the chance to really tweak with it though so it could be worse than I have experienced.
@Docshifty has created the PA Open league (PA Open).
We played a match of Lizards (me) vs Skaven (him), which ended 1-1 after a Saurus made an interception (rolled a 6) and a stormvermin caught a bouncing ball in 3 tackle zones (also rolled a 6). First block of the match (from the rat ogre) gave a Saurus -1 MV (who got fired straight after the game). The krox got revenge though KOing the rat ogre who slept the rest of the game. Another saurus also got injured when 7 or so skaven accidentily stood on him.
Join up and get some games in against your fellow PAers.
Yeah Dwarf teams result in some pretty dull gameplay, especially in a mirror match with new teams. 1D blocks with Block everywhere, and 9AV to spare with nary a Mighty Blow or Claw in sight. Add in half of each team having 4MV and 2AG and it's really easy to get a terrible match. At least with Chaos and Orc teams you have a little more mobility and players with different ST values and few (or no) players with Block to start with. The sooner they are able to get more of the team lists added in, the better. The game needs variety, and 8-10 team rosters is a good start, but 24+ would be even better.
Remember to pay attention to your inducements. I just validated because I thought it said 47000. Turns out I missed a zero.
I got a mild form of peace from that match. I managed to injury his minotaur, who rolled niggling injury. He apoth'd to no injury. Then the crowd injured one if his chaos warriors on kickoff, -MA.
+2

So I'm trying something a bit different (or not?) with my Empire team. I took 4 catchers, 4 blitzers, 2 throwers, and the Ogre as my main group. The idea is to get all the catchers leveled up and take Block on them. Then I've got 4 super mobile recievers who are almost impossible to knock down, and it's almost like my team has 8 blitzers, even if the catchers aren't great on offensive blocks, and they get pushed/moved a bunch, they're incredibly sticky and very good offensive threats. They make good defenders too because they have huge move, can run through tackle zones, and are very hard to knock down.
I'm on the X1, so this might be a different story than on PC, but looking through the options I don't see a choice for an online "open league" or whatever, where I can just get a quick random matchup with another player who is also online. Am I just missing where that feature is located, or did they really leave it out? Thanks.

As you said, xbox, I'm on pc. But when you go to team management, and highlight yours, select Join a League, and pretty much select the first one. NAF Official League is the name
Okay, so if you have some sort of internet hiccup or something, provided the game is STILL RUNNING, you can reconnect. This has happened numerously and the game has always fixed itself.
However, if the game crashes, too fucking bad for you. So, yay, Cyanide, halfway fixed the problem.
Yeah it looks like BB2 has fixed a few of the issues with BB1 (horrible interface, disconnects being unrecoverable and a few other things) while adding in some new problems. I'm not convinced adding in the stadium upgrades was a good idea (a bribe has a very different value for a Deathroller team than any others really) and they seem to have either poorly implemented the Bank rule, or implemented a very bad Bank rule. Combine the questionable bank rule with the incorrect order of inducement spending and the absurd thing where spent petty cash gets refunded, and that's potentially game breaking. A lot of people on the official forums are underestimating the power of being able to induce a wizard without impacting your cash on hand.
Well, due to the bank rule, spending money (after your free 150k) on inducements WOULDN'T give the other team any petty cash, because it's already factored into your TV. Having 300k moneys basically means you just have a wizard on staff.
Though, it's unclear if spending that first 150k on inducements gives your opponent petty cash properly.
The Bank rule is more or less correct (though not an official rule so it's hard to tell if there is a problem exactly). The real problem (to me) is that if the higher TV team spends money on inducements, that money is refunded. So basically, by banking 300k in cash, you can get a wizard for every match and it doesn't actually cost you any gold. I get that the idea behind the bank rule is to encourage more use of inducements instead of just hoarding cash, but when you can do both then it kind of doesn't work.
So I am seeing reports that Cyanide said on their stream (earlier today?) that new races will be $7 each. That is a little pricey for my tastes, and is an absolute ripoff for any of the "joke" rosters. I hope they know what they are doing, and that sale prices will get the number down to something palatable (to me).
I am not buying joke teams like the Halflings to play as them. I am buying them to play against for the lols.
Well I'm pretty sure you don't have to own a team roster to play against them. I know that during the beta, when normal people were restricted to 4 teams (I think Human, Orc, Dwarf and Skaven) that they could match up against Chaos if their opponent had a media/review copy with that team unlocked. I also believe that people that didn't pre-order can still match up against Wood Elves and Lizardmen.
I'm honestly not sure how they expect to sell the joke rosters. Maybe as parts of bundles or in a season pass type of deal. If only Cyanide would actually communicate with the player base.
I still can't see why anyone with chaos edition would go in on BB2. Most of the changes seem cosmetic, and you only get a third of teams. I don't understand why this sequel was necessary, or what it adds overall.
The only reason I'm still considering going in is that I like to play BB with PA folks, and that isn't happening with Chaos Edition. Is there something that I am missing?
BB2 has a dramatically improved interface. The graphical upgrades are nice, but it's mostly about a useable interface, less buggy system overall, and significantly improved online play.

it is prettier and newer and I am a consumer whore.
other than that you do have a point.
also the general playerbase usually gravitates towards newer versions. I still at times play classics like DAoC and Warhammer Online but that is because those games are unparalleled in today's market. BB is still BB.

@KafkaAU
I have never played a game more boring. In any game. Ever.
I'd imagine someone who likes Skaven would also be OK with Elves, since they're both quick and fragile sort of teams.
No fuck elves. Elves are stupid and poop from a butt.
Right. And the more you play Elves, the more Elves will get hurt.
So either you play Elves and win or you play Elves and a whole bunch of Elves get seriously hurt. You can't lose!

The only Elves are Pro Elves. The most excellent fragile bash slippery asshole team that can handle balls like champs.

I lost 4-1 and I don't give a fuuuck.
I didn't do that once in the previous version

And those numbers are lower than they should be since BB froze on two of those matches and they turned into forfeits.
That is nearly eight casualties a match.

this is me buying my third Cyanide Blood Bowl game.
a Euro time league is totally out of the question, right?
I wouldn't say totally out of the question. But I hope PA Open will suffice.
