Thing I love about JAYOKU HOUTENJIN is how every Hazama follows up an overhead with it.
And how it works like 90% of the time.
i played hazama for a while, before makoto was available for use
do you know how much mileage i got out of 6a -> houtenjin?
fucking disgusting, every single human being i've played falls for it at least once
As someone who still plays a bit of Hazama, you actually have to make effort to wait and hit confirm the super. It seems obvious to wait for the hit confirm, but when it works 80 times in a row, you get conditioned to it working.

oh yeah, no doubt
i haven't played hazama since the early days of CS1, but back in the early days of CS1?
6a into houtenjin all goddamn day, nobody knew what the fuck for the first week or two
the difference is that people still get opened up by that constantly at high levels of play, whereas you're much less likely to see really good bb players get chumped by random 6a's

So Blazblue. The last major fighting game to really draw me into its world and hook me good. I didn't play past the first iteration of Continuum Shift. Is it worth picking up Extend to get the story before this latest one comes out? I really want to get back into the game but I already have P4A that I've been neglecting and I probably suck at both now.
Extend is basically the most up to date balance version. There's no point to play the older games, so you get the non-obsolete one. It's really that simple. Yes, they nickle and dime us for it, it's fine, it's a good game and it's worth it cause we get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it when the average game gives us maybe 40 for the same money.

Pretty much how I felt. I got so many hours out of CT and CS that spending some more to keep my favorite fighter alive felt like a small price to pay.
Kind of like why people keep buying more CoD and stuff, I suppose.
Eh, or maybe don't go into OD unless you have already forced the burst out of your opponent. Or bait his burst and punish while you are in OD.
Like Blaze said, people have already done 9k OD combos in actual matches. And we are what, 2 weeks into the life of the game?
It may not end up being a thing, but, I feel like it isn't unreasonable to have it as a point of concern and keep an eye on it.
Meh. Having to get your opponent to burn a burst before you use yours severely limits how you can use it and really doesn't make for an interesting mechanic.
I mean if it does become an issue I'm sure they'll look at it but I would prefer they do it with something rather than a half-hearted nerf.
oh no i mean i'll be the first person to admit i'm totally theorycrafting, and there's a good chance that it won't become a Bad Thing depending on how the game develops
i'm just saying i see how it could potentially be a problem, not that it's going to be a problem
There is a reason why I am speaking in hypotheticals "may have been an oversight" not "is an oversight" etc.
Even if it ends up being balanced, I don't really like the idea conceptually of being able to negate someone's ability to burst. This is of course an opinion and we can agree to disagree on it.
The game is pretty much too early to really talk about anything other than maybes anyway, and I say that as like, the only person in the thread who has access to playing the game.

it was almost as bad as spencer overhead

I think the original Lust Sin is very good.
But this is amazing.
Also, my brother when he heard me playing Lust Sin remix, "Is that Guilty Gear?"
"...only mights and maybes."
lmao

It is expensive to learn a character from the ground up at the arcade at 100yen (like $1.25) a play.
and not very popular on top of that, for some reason

GGX2 called, Daisuke. They've missed you. AND SO HAVE I
I'm gonna get my ass stomped into the corner and I'll still get this just for the cheesy, sweet-blowjobby METAL

Being in the corner, is of course, still a terrifying place to be.
I mean, I've already seen Nu with over 9k, and then a Hakumen who did a 9k OD combo in a match. An actual match. HE MURDERED THAT GUY.
i don't like touch-of-death shit

I guess a far compromise would be something like giving your back 75% of your burst bar if your opponent bursts during.
That said, OD has yet proven to be that big of a problem and I'm not sure if it will.
I mean I'm sure there will be situations every now and then that make you cock your eyebrow but overall I doubt it'll end up that big of a deal.
Still doesn't look anywhere near as annoying as X-Factor and hell people have been putting up with that for years.
But that is Marvel...where everything is broken so nothing is.

Arakune will probably be able to convert any decent combo starter into death via OD if he is low on life.
Could be silly if things become "whoever starts their big OD combo first wins the match"
I mean I'm not saying you guys can't be right but I have never seen any good come from people crying out for kneejerk nerfs in fighting games.

You guys are gonna be the ones bitching when I hit you with my 11k OD, unburstable bullshit. I love combos.
